- If the appliance had to be sold or transferred to another owner
make sure that this manual always accompany it, so that it can
be consulted by the new owner or the technician.
3.10- FIRST UTILISATION
Preliminary checks
The first put in operation must be done by professionally
qualified personnel. In the case of damages to people, ani-
mals and goods deriving from the no observance of the
instructions contained in this manual, Unical cannot be
considered responsible.
Inspections and Maintenances not perfor-
med can cause material and personal da-
mages
For this reason we recommend to stipulate an inspection or
maintenance contract.
The inspection serves to determine the real state of an ap-
pliance and to compare it with the optimal state. This happens
through measurement, control, observation.
The maintenance is necessary to eliminate possible devia-
tions of the real state from the optimal state. This takes place,
normally, through the cleaning and the replacement the of
single components submitted to consumption.
ATTENTION!
Before connecting the storage tank to the
heating system proceed with an accurate
cleaning of the pipelines with a convenient
product, in order to eliminate metallic residues of work-
manship and of welding, of oil and of fats that could be
present and that, coming up to the tank, could alter its
operation.
For the washing of the heating system do not to use sol-
vents, because its use could damage the system compo-
nents.
The non observance of the instructions of this manual can
cause damages to people, animals and goods, towards
which the Unical cannot be considered responsible.
WARNING!
Before putting into operation the storage tank it is conve-
nient to ascertain that on the domestic hot water circuit,
the safety valve, the automatic air vent and a drain valve
are fitted.
- In case of particularly calcareous water its treatement is
necessary.
- In case the water supply pressure is higher than 4 bar, a
pressure reducing valve has to be fitted.
- For a convenient optimization of the water outlet tempe-
rature the use of a thermostatic mixing valve is recom-
mended.
- Never exceed the maximum working temperature of sto-
rage tank.
- In case the storage tank is used in combination with a
solar system:
The expansion vessel of the solar system has to with-
stand the high temperatures and the membrane has to be
suitable to the contact with mixture water/glycole.
- To avoid the self natural circulation it is necessary to in-
sert a non return valve.
- Never exceed the maximum temperature of the heating
circuit’s storage tank.

The frequency of the service is determined by the technician
on the base of the state of the appliance ascertained during
the inspection.
The inspection and service works have to be made in the
order shown on the table.
SERVICE
Cleaning of the inside of the tank
Because the cleaning to be made concerns
surfaces which come in contact with the
domestic hot water it is necessary to take all the
precautions in the selection of the apparatuses
and cleaning products.
Before proceeding with the operations of maintenance, perform
the following operations:
- Disconnect the appliance from the electrical supply (if any).
- According to the maintenance intervention to be performed,
close the sanitary circuit or heating circuit gate valves.
To clean the inside surface of the reservoir, proceed as follows:
- Close the gate valves of the storage tank.
- Drain the tank
- Remove the front cleaning flange.
- Clean the inside with a strong water jet. If necessary, to
eliminate scaling deposits use a proper plastic or wooden tool
and rinse.
For the external cleaning of the tank it is recommended the
use of a cloth with water and neutral detergents, avoiding
solvents or abrasive products.
Warning!
During the cleaning works, be carefull not to
damage the enamel of the coil heat exchanger
and of the inside wall of the tank.
Refit the cleaning flange with the relevant
gasket.
Tighten the fixing bolts
Old or damaged gaskets must be replaced.
Every time the inspection flange is removed the
sealing gasket has to be replaced.
Fill the storage tank and check for water leaks
Danger of burn with hot water!
The drain connection of the safety valve must
be always open.
Vice versa, if it is plugged, the storage tank will
explode!.
Control of the protecting magnesium anode
The reservoirs are equipped with a protecting magnesium
anode, whose duration depends on the installation place
(water quality). The anode is screwed on the upper connection
of the tank.
For the maintenance of the anode, placed under the insulation
cover of the tank, it is necessary to remove the plastic cover
and its insulation.
Visual control:
Remove the magnesium anode once a year and check its
condition.
If necessary replace it with a new original one and fill in the
rekord sheet (see the second last page).
To assure for a long time all the functions of your appliance
and not to alter the conditions of the standard product, only
original spare parts from Unical have to be used.
WARNING
Make sure the anode is earthed!

Instructions for the installer
In absence of the date of putting into service, the guarantee is
considered from the date of manufacture of the storage tank.
B - The guarantee is valid provided that the certificate is compiled in
all of its parts.
C - The guarantee covers all the components of the appliance and
gives the right, to the user, to get, free of charge, any part that
presents manufacturing defects only if the a.m. parts are returned,
free of charge, to Unical, with attached copy of the records of the
maintenance made on the storage tank by an authorised
technician.
The replaced or the repared parts will be returned to the owner
with the charge of the freight and packing (if any) costs.
The intervention of the service personnel will be effected against
the reimbursement of the fixed call right.
D - The guarantee doesn't cover the appliances that had been
wrongly installed or have undergone a wrong maintenance or have
been tampered, or for causes non dependent from the manufacturer.
A- This guarantee has effect from the date of putting into service.
GENERAL CONDITIONS OF CONVENTIONAL GUARANTEE
F - For any dispute exclusively the court of Mantua will be competent.
E - The guarantee is considered elapsed in case of:
WARNINGS: In this type of appliances it is necessary to perform
with regularity a cleaning that assures a minimum consumption
and a maximum comfort. We suggest you to undersign an annual
service contract with the nearest Unical after sales service or
installer, that will validate this guarantee.
1) lack of replacement, also following a non verification, of the
magnesium anode, because every storage tank is protected
by the anode against possible galvanic currents.
The date of the anode replacement must be written on the
following certifcat and countersigned by the technician himself.
2) Use of the appliance for uses different from those to which it
is destined or with different methods from those described in
this instruction manual.
3) Lack of service according to the instructions indicated in
this manual.
4) Installation not in conformity with the instructions given in
this manual.
