Installation Notes
The Express5800/320La Service Pack 3 Installation Notes contain supplemental
instructions needed to install Microsoft® Windows 2000® Service Pack 3. At
the completion of the installation of Service Pack 3, FT software will have been
updated to version 1.3. This document is intended to complement the more
detailed procedural documents available from Microsoft.
Please read these notes in their entirety before installing Service Pack 3.

Prerequisites
Hardware
! NEC Express5800/320La Server with Windows 2000® Advanced Server installed.
Software
! NEC EXPRESSBUILDER ver. 2.002b-G CD-ROM
! Microsoft® Service Pack 3 CD-ROM
! Free disk space as specified by Microsoft’s SP3 requirements.
Installation
1. Close all running applications on the 320La server running Windows 2000
Advanced Server.
2. Change the “ BMC Fault Tolerant Service “ to Manual Start.
Start/settings/control panel/administrative tools/services/ BMC Fault
Tolerant Service/startup type
Select Manual.
3. Using PROSET, break the teaming of network cards.
Start/programs/intel/proset
Right click on Team.
Select Break Team.
4. Uninstall the PROSET application from your system.
Start/settings/control panel/add-remove programs
Select Proset.
Click Remove.
5. Reboot your server and login as administrator.
6. Insert the EXPRESSBUILDER Version 2.002b-G CD into your CD-ROM
drive. The CD auto-runs to the main menu.
7. At the EXPRESSBUILDER Master Control Menu, click Setup.
8. On the fly-out menu, select Update NEC Express5800 system.”
9. At the setup message dialog box, click Yes.
10. Another dialog box appears. Disregard this dialog box and remove the
EXPRESSBUILDER CD and insert the Microsoft Service Pack 3 (SP3) CD.

11. The SP3 CD brings up an information window. Close the information
window by clicking the X in the upper right hand corner of the display.
12. Click Yes on the displayed dialog box. The relevant files for the 320La
server are extracted from the CD.
13. When the Service Pack 3 Setup Wizard window displays, click Next.
14. Click the “I Agree” radio button, and then click Next.
15. Choose to archive or not archive files (this choice is up to local
administration policy). The default is to archive files. Click Next. The
Service Pack 3 installation begins.
16. Click Finish to begin the installation of the Service Pack 3 update.
17. Insert the EXPRESSBUILDER CD when prompted.
18. Close the EXPRESSBUILDER window by clicking the X in the upper
right hand corner of the display.
19. Click OK at the Setup Message dialog box.
20. Another dialog box displays, click OK.
21. Microsoft OS updates and 320La specific updates are installed.
Note: The batch process installing the updates runs for
five to seven minutes. At times it may seem that the process
has stalled. However, the system is still actively processing
the updates.
22. At the completion of the batch process, remove the EXPRESSBUILDER
CD. The system will reboot.
Note: The system reboots without user intervention.
23. After the Reboot, the Found New Hardware wizard may run. If it does, click
on all defaults to complete the process. If prompted to restart Windows, DO
NOT RESTART the system.
24. Check disk mirroring, if disabled, enable it again. During disk
resynchronization, DO NOT shut down the system.

Click on Storage.
Click on Disk Management.
Select “Veritas Volume Manager” and then Select “Disk View.”
Check if Disk Mirroring is enabled.

If not, make sure that both drives are dynamic disks.
Right click on the first drive and select “Create Volume”
25. Follow the instructions on the screen indicating how to create the new mirror
set.
26. Start the Windows 2000 Device Manager, and select View>Device by
Connection.
27. Uninstall the “ Stratus Enclosure Services NEC GEM Processor ” device.
28. Uninstall the “ Stratus Fault Tolerant Virtual 69000 video “ device.
29. Uninstall the “ Virtual Host Bus Adapter “ device.
Note: There will be two instances of this device.
Uninstall only the one without any disk drives listed under it.
30. Reboot your system.
31. Install the ESMPRO Agent from the ExpressBuilder Master Control Menu.
32. Enable Teaming on your network cards using PROSET.
Start/programs/intel/proset
Select “Create Team.”
Select the first network card.
Select the second network card.
Click on Finish.
33. Apply the Veritas Volume Manager 2.7 for Windows 2000 Hotfix05 from
the ExpressBuilder Master Control Menu.
34. Install the NEC ESMPRO report service for Volume Manager from the
ExpressBuilder Master Control Menu.
35. The system update to FT software Kit 1.3 and SVP3 has been completed.
36. If your system has any options installed, run the appropriate batch file
associated with that option. See the following table.
