Windows 2000 Service Pack 4 Upgrade Procedure for 320La
Prerequisites for Upgrade
A. FT Control Software Version 1.3 or higher is installed.
B. Back up the system boot disks prior to performing this upgrade in the event of
the rare occurrence that the OS fails to start during or after the upgrade.
C. The 363-01668-000 320La Windows 2000 Service Pack 4 Upgrade CD.
NOTE: This CD does not include the Microsoft Windows 2000 Service Pack
4 release.
D. A Microsoft Windows 2000 Service Pack 4 CD (not included in this kit).
E. The 455-01709-000 Windows 2000 Service Pack 4 Upgrade Procedure for
320La (this document).
F. The 363-01597-004 EXPRESSBUILDER Version 2.002b-Gb CD.
G. The Veritas Volume Manager Version 3.1 License Key.
H. Document the Network (LAN) teaming configuration in the Intel PROSet II
utility so that they can be restored after the upgrade, if necessary.
I. Document the disk mirroring configuration so that it can be restored after the
upgrade, if necessary.
J. Review the documentation below.
Cautions and Restrictions
a. The 320La may appear to hang with a blank screen when shutting down prior
to a restart. This behavior has typically been noted when a USB to PS2
converter is used for the mouse and/or keyboard, with or without a KVM
switch. As a workaround for this situation, remove and replace the
keyboard/mouse USB cable in the USB port. System operation should
continue after the cable is removed.
b. The VERITAS Volume Manager Hot Relocation and Hot Spare functions,
which are installed by default, are not supported on the NEC Express5800/ft
series.
c. Do not read or write data on the system during the upgrade process.
d. During the update process, the screen may flicker for a couple of seconds.
This is normal.
e. The procedures documented in these instructions refer to the CD-ROM drive
as <CD>. Substitute the actual drive letter of your CD-ROM drive wherever
<CD> is referenced in this document.
f. After each system restart the server MUST be in full duplex mode before
proceeding to the next step. NOTE: It may take several minutes to complete
the synchronization.
