IKEA OBU 245 is multifunctional oven with several features designed to assist you in preparing a variety of dishes.

This oven has eight oven functions, including the ability to bake, grill, and use a bottom heating function. The bottom heating function is ideal for finishing off dishes such as fruitcakes or cheesecakes or thickening sauces. You can also use the static function when all food is on the same rack level.

The grill function is perfect for cooking small pieces of meat, such as steaks or sausages, as well as making toast.

The OBU 245 also has a number of cooktop functions, including a keep warm function, fast boiling function, dual zone function, and gentle heat function.

BOTTOM HEATING FUNCTION
Use:
- To finish baking fruitcakes or cheesecakes.
- To thicken sauces.
Use the lower heating function for the last 10 or 15 minutes of cooking time.
STATIC FUNCTION
Use when all the food is on the same runner level.
- Preheat the oven to the required cooking temperature and place the food inside as soon as the red
thermostat indicator light switches off.
- Ideally, the shelf should be on the second runner level when using the static function.
GRILL FUNCTION
Use the grill function to cook small pieces of meat (steaks, sausages) and for making toasts.
- The oven door must be closed during the cooking cycle.
- Preheat the grill for about 5 minutes.
- Arrange the meat on the grid with the drip tray underneath. Pour water in the drip tray to cover the bottom to
reduce smoke and fat spatters.
- Turn over the meat about half-way through cooking time.
Turn the selector knob to the required symbol.
The oven light switches on.
• Turn the thermostat knob clockwise to the required temperature.
The red thermostat indicator light switches on.
• When the required temperature is reached, the red thermostat indicator light switches off.
End of cooking cycle:
• Return the knobs to the OFF position (0 - •).
1. Turn the knob fully clockwise.
2. Return the knob to the required cooking time.
3. When the preset cooking time has elapsed, the oven switches off.
- To use the oven without programming the cooking time, set the knob to .
Warning: if the programmer is on “0” the oven will not switch on: to switch on the oven,
either set the programmer knob to or set the required cooking time.

The fan speed depends on the temperature of the oven and/or cooktop. After the oven and/or the cooktop switch off,
the cooling fan may, however, continue to run for the time to ensure proper cooling

SWITCHING THE OVEN ON

The cooktop control knobs are marked with a numerical scale corresponding to different power settings,
and a series of function symbols.
KEEP WARM FUNCTION
This function uses a low power setting so that food can be kept warm when cooking is finished.
How to operate:
1. Turn the knob to .
2. To deactivate the Keep Warm function, change the knob position.
DUAL ZONE FUNCTION
(DEPENDENT ON MODEL)
This function is available on the front left and rear left cooking zones. The dual-zone function extends the
heated area of the cooktop so that you can use large, oval or rectangular pans.
How to operate:
1. Turn the knob to and wait for the residual heat indicator for the chosen hotplate to start flashing.
2. Select the required power by turning the knob anti-clockwise. The residual heat indicator remains lit to show
that the cooktop is switched on.
3. To deactivate the function return the knob to “0”.
FAST BOILING FUNCTION
This function makes it possible to bring water to the boil fast; the Fast Boiling function remains active for a
preset time. Once the preset time has elapsed, the cooktop returns automatically to maximum power level.
The Fast Boiling function can be activated also once you have already started cooking.
Warning: make sure you have placed the pan on the cooking zone before activating the fast boiling
function or the glass-ceramic surface may be damaged.
Specified performance values for the Fast Boiling function are guaranteed for all types of glass-ceramic cooktops.
How to operate:
1. Place the pan on the chosen cooking zone.

GENTLE HEAT FUNCTION
Can be used to raise dough, soften hard butter from the fridge, keep a baby’s bottle or a baby food warm,
for yoghurt making, melting chocolate, etc...
This function is available only when the residual heat indicator light is on.
How to operate:
1. Make sure that the relative cooking zone residual heat indicator light is on.
2. Turn the knob to .
3. To deactivate the function change the knob position.
