Safety instructions and warnings

Intended use
The GROHE Sensia
®
IGS shower-toilet cleans the anal area and has a separate water
outlet for ladies. Any other type of use is not permitted. GROHE accepts no liability for
damage caused because the unit is incorrectly connected, improperly used or used
foran unintended purpose.
People with physical, sensory or mental disabilities and those completely unfamiliar
with the unit ( particularly children ) may only use the shower-toilet under the supervi-
sion / instruction of a responsible person.
Warnings / safety precautions ( for your safety )
Never use a defective unit or a unit with a damaged cable. Only connect the unit to
voltages according to the specifications stated on the rating plate. This information
can be found under the service flap in the compartment for the remote control. Further
information can be found in Section 13, Technical data

Check regularly that all functions are working properly. If you suspect that the unit may
bedefective, disconnect the power supply immediately and contact your specialist
installation engineer or the GROHE Customer Service line.
Do not open and repair the unit yourself. Do not install any additional equipment or make
any modifications. The unit has live components, which means opening it could have
fatal consequences
!
Repairs which are not carried out by a specialist may result in dangerous accidents,
malfunctions and damage to the unit and the installation.For this reason, repairs must
always be carried out by trained and certified specialists, using original spare parts
andaccessories.
Only original electrical connection, water connection and spare parts materials must
be used. The mains cable supplied must also be used. The mains cable must not be
modified in any way. If the mains cable is defective, it must be replaced with an original
mains cable by a specialist.
If the unit malfunctions or requires repair, please follow the instructions set out in Section 11,
Troubleshooting. If necessary, please consult your specialist installation engineer or the
GROHE Customer Service line.

Each person perceives temperatures differently. This is why you should always check the
water and dryer temperature settings before using the shower-toilet.
As the user or operator, you should only operate and maintain the unit as described in
these instructions.
Rainwater or grey water is not suitable for use with your GROHE Sensia
®
IGS shower-
toilet, nor is purified water compatible. The only water that can be used is normal drinking
water.
Only use original GROHE Sensia
®
products or other products recommended by GROHE
for cleaning, care and decalcification. No liability is accepted if other products are used.
The hygienic flush uses hot water. Do not use the shower-toilet during this time. The
hygienic flush time can easily be set using the remote control.

Shower-toilet : LED display
The LED display can be found on the
left-hand side of the unit. It provides
assistance for night-time toilet trips
and information on any main tenance
required or possible faults on your
shower-toilet.

White Normal operation Everything OK.
The white LED display acts as a night light. You can select
from four brightness levels or deactivate the display using
the remote control.

It is easy to operate the GROHE
Sensia
®
IGS shower-toilet by turning
and pressing the controller fitted on
the right-hand side. The following
functions can be adjusted using the
controller

Remote control
Pressing the start button in the top right corner
activates the touch-screen remote control. The
first time you use it, a one-off commissioning pro-
gramme* guides you through the most important
settings. As soon as you sit on the shower-toilet,
the remote control is ready. There is a compart-
ment you can store the remote control in under
the service flap.
* Your plumber may have already run the commissioning
programme after fitting the unit. More detailed information
anddescriptions can be found in Section 6, Adjusting
basic settings using the remote control.
Wall-mounted holder for remote control
You can wall mount the remote control so it
is easily accessible at all times. On the back
of the wall-mounted holder is a double-sided
adhesive pad. Simply remove the backing
film and press the wall-mounted holder to the
wall where you want it.

Water hardness test strip
You can test the hardness of your mains water using the test strip supplied. Please save
this information under “
Basic settings ” on the remote control. Your plumber has probably
already done this for you.

Pressing the start button in the top right corner
activates the touch-screen remote control. The
first time you use it, a commissioning programme
guides you through the most important settings.
Your plumber may have already done this after
fitting the unit. You can change the appropriate
settings again at any time.
After activating the shower-toilet and the remote
control, the shower-toilet is ready to use. As soon
as you sit on the shower-toilet, the unit can be
operated using the controller or the remote control.

User detection
As soon as you sit on the GROHE Sensia
®
IGS shower-toilet, the odour extraction is acti-
vated, although you can switch it off at any time using the remote control. Spray settings
saved in the basic profile are now active and can be accessed using the controller or the
remote control.

Switching on the shower-toilet
Once installed, the shower-toilet can be switched on using the main switch.

Spray shield
The spray shield allows you to test whether the
shower- toilet is working without having to sit on the
unit. Open the lid and position the spray shield. Press
down gently on the front of the seat ring until the
odour extraction switches on. As long as you main-
tain the pressure, you can test all the functions using
the controller or the remote control.
You can also override user detection in demo mode.

Seat and lid lowering function
The soft close feature gently lowers the seat and lid. Opening works in the same way as
for a conventional toilet.
Please do not push the seat and lid down.
This will damage the dampers.

Water hardness
There are various ways of measuring the water hardness
:
Measure the water hardness where the unit is installed
using the test strip provided.
Ask your water supply company. This information can
normally also be found on your water bill.

Energy-saving settings
The GROHE Sensia
®
IGS shower-toilet was developed to
minimise energy consumption in standby mode. The factory
settings represent an ideal compromise between comfort and
energy saving. It is therefore recommended that you leave the
factory settings for energy-saving mode, spray temperature
and spray time. These are set as follows
:

On The boiler heating is switched on permanently,
enabling immediate supplyofwarm water.
Eco The boiler heating switches on as soon as you sit down and user
detectionis activated. Warm water is available after approximately
3.5 minutes heating time.
Off The boiler heating is permanently switched off. Only cold water is
available. This is the lowest level of energy consumption.

Hygienic flush reminder function
The hygienic flush rinses the water-bearing parts of your
shower- toilet with hot water and thus cleans them. The red
LED display and appropriate service information on the
remote control remind you when a hygienic flush needs to
be carried out. The automatic hygienic flush reminder is
activated by default and can be deactivated by pressing
Hygienic flush . You are then not automatically reminded
tocarry out the hygienic flush.
The white icon indicates that the automatic
hygienic flush reminder is active.
The black icon indicates that the automatic
hygienic flush reminder is inactive.
The hygienic flush can be started manually at any time. More
detailed descriptions can be found in Section 10.9, Automatic

Retracting and extending spray arm
The spray arm can be extended and retracted to clean or
replace the nozzle.

Reset restarts the shower-toilet.
Decalcification
The decalcification programme removes the limescale from
all water-bearing parts. Pressing “
Decalcification ” takes you
to the menu. There are instructions on the remote control to
guide you through the decalcification programme.

The decalcification programme can only be started when
nobody is sitting on the shower-toilet.

Relevant messages for customer service and other important
information can be accessed in the “
Information ” menu.
Aunit reset can also be carried out using the remote control.

find the Customer Service line number and all the relevant
information you need for customer service.

process, the spray arm extends and retracts briefly. The
