2.2 Application as directed
Low -voltage machines are not household appliances, but are intended as com ponents
tha t are only applied for re-use for industrial or professional purposes in term s of
IEC/EN 61000-3-2.
They meet the requirem ents of the Low -Voltage Directive 2006/95/EC and the
harmonised standards o f the IEC/EN 60034 series.
It is permissible to use low-voltage machines w ith IP23 protection or less outdoors only
if special protective measures are taken.
Do not use the integrated brakes as fail-safe brakes. It cannot be ruled out that the
braking torque w ill be reduced due to disruptive factors that cannot be influenced.
Drives
- . .. m ust only be operated under the operating conditions and power lim its
specified in this docum entation.
- . .. com ply w ith the protection requirem ents of the EC Low -Voltage Directive.
1Note!
Generally, all products this docum entation is valid for meet the
requirem ents of the Low -Voltage Directive 2006/95/EC. Products that do
not meet the m inim um efficiencies o f the EU Directive 640/2009 (and
hence the ErP Directive 2009/125/EC), w ill not be CE-com pliant as of

2 Safety instructions
Foreseeable misuse
2.3 Foreseeable misuse
Do not operate the motors
- . .. in explosion-protected areas
- . .. in aggressive environm ents (acid, gas, vapour, dust, oil)
- . .. in w ater
- . .. in radiation environm ents
1Note!
Increased surface and corrosion protection can be achieved by using
adapted coating systems.
2.4 Residual hazards
Protection o f persons
The m otor surfaces can become very hot. Danger of burns when touching!
- Provide protection against accidental contact, if necessary.
Highfrequency voltages can be capacitively transferred to the m otor housing
through the inverter supply.
- Earth m otor housing carefully.
Danger of unintentional starting or electrical shocks
- Connections m ust only be made when the equipm ent is deenergised and the
m otor is at standstill.
- Installed brakes are no fail-safe brakes.
10 Lenze BA 33.0006 3.0
Safety instructions 2
Residual hazards
M o tor protection
Installed therm al detectors are no full protection for the machine.
- If required, lim it the m axim um current, param eterise the controller such th at it
w ill be switched off after some seconds of operation w ith I > In, especially if
there is the danger o f blocking.
- Installed overload protection does not prevent an overload under any
conditions.
Installed brakes are no fail-safe brakes.
- The torque can be reduced due to disruptive factors that cannot be influenced,
e.g. by ingressing oil due to a defect shaft sealing ring on the A side.
Fuses are no m otor protection.
- Use current-dependent m otor protection switches at average operating
frequency.
- Use installed therm al detectors at high operating frequency.
Too high torques cause a fraction of the m otor shaft.
- The m axim um torques according to catalogue must not be exceeded.
Lateral forces from the m otor shaft m ay occur.
-A lig n shafts o f m otor and driving m achine exactly to each other.
If deviations from normal operation occur, e.g. increased tem perature, noise,
vibration, determine the cause and, if necessary, contact the manufacturer. If in
doubt, switch o ff the m otor.
Fire protection
Fire hazard
- Prevent contact w ith flam m able substances.

Im portant notes
5.1 Im p ortant notes
Some of the m otors m ounted to the gearboxes are equipped w ith
transport aids. They are o n ly intended for the m ounting/dism ounting of
the m otor to the gearbox and must not be used for the entire geared
m otor!
O nly move the drive w ith means o f transport or hoists th at have sufficient
load-bearing capacity.
Ensure safe fixin g.
Avoid shocks!
5.2 Preparation
Remove the corrosion protection from the shaft ends and flanges. If necessary, rem ove
dirt using standard cleaning solvents.
@ Stop!
Bearings or seals must not come into contact w ith the solvent - m aterial
damages.
Afte r a long storage period (> 1 year) you have to check w hether m oisture has
entered the m otor. For this purpose, measure the insulation resistance (m easuring
voltage 500 Vdc). In case o f values <1kQper volt of rated voltage, dry the w inding.
5.3 Assem bly o f built-on accessories
Follow the instructions below carefully. Please note that, in the event of im perm issible
alteration or m odification of the motor, you w ill lose all entitlem ents to make claim s
under w arranty and to benefit from product liability obligations.
M ount the transm ission elem ents:
- Shocks and im pacts must be avoided! They could destroy the m otor.
-A lw a y s use the centre bore in the m otor shaft (in accordance w ith DIN 332,
design D) for m ounting.
- Tolerances of the shaft ends:
<0
50 mm: ISO k6, >
0
50 mm: ISO m6.
O nly use an extractor fo r the disassembly.
W hen using belts for torque/pow er transm ission:
- Tension the belts in a controlled manner.
- Provide protection against accidental contact! During operation, surface
tem peratures of up to 140°C are possible.
