General Site Preparation

This guide provides the information you need to prepare your site for installation and operation of the Phoenix BLACK and

its optional updgrades.

Phoenix BLACK

• A fume hood within 8' (2.5 m) of unit or adequate exhaust that pulls a minimum of 130 CFM at point of connection. The

exhaust hose must be connected and draw at least 130 CFM at the point of connection at all times as it is essential for

removing harmful vapors away from the instrument.

• Vent hose is 8 ft long with a 3 1∕8" OD × 2 13∕16" ID

• DO NOT install the instrument inside of a fume hood. Vapors should be vented into a fume hood by means of the

exhaust hose only.

• Is free from vibration of large equipment

• Low draft and low dust setting

• Adequate space for sample handling

• Shelves or cabinetry above unit is not recommended

• Safety guard extends additional 5.8" (14.74 cm) above the instrument

• Additional 18" (45.72 cm) directly beside (left or right) system for scrubber bottle assembly and pump

• Workstation:

• Balance Dimensions: 7.5” ( cm) W x 13” ( cm) D x 12.75” ( cm) H

• Printer Dimensions: 5.5” (13.97 cm) W x 7.5” (19.05 cm) D x 6” (15.24 cm) H

Electrical Requirements

• Line voltage must not vary more than ± 10 % of its specied level

• 200 V, 50 Hz, 15 A

• Line voltage must not vary more than ± 10 % of its specied level

• Dedicated, grounded outlet no more than 8’ (2.5 m) from unit

• Instrument is supplied with a region-specic power cord or an adequately rated

power cord may be used

Compressed Air (Airwave ONLY)

• Dedicated compressed air line providing 90 psi (6 atm) at 360 L/min (13 ft2/min)

• 5∕16" (8 mm) diameter airline ending in an “M” style female 1∕4" coupler

• If the Phoenix AirWave is more than 50 feet from the compressed air supply, the air line should be increased to 5/8" ID.

Compressed air supply should be increased if the exhaust hose is more than 16'.

Environmental Requirements

• Indoor use only

• Altitude up to 6562’ (2000 m)
