1. View the Site Preparation Guide (P/N FM0082) or “System Specications”
section of this manual and select a location that meets requirements be-
fore installing the BLADE instrument.
2. Carefully inspect the shipping carton, the instrument, and accessories for
any damage that may have occurred during shipping. If the instrument or
accessories have damage, contact the freight carrier to report the damage
and le a damage report. Contact your CEM Representative for assistance.

Unboxing
4BLADE Setup Guide
1. Connect the exhaust hose as outlined below. (Figure 4)
WARNING
The exhaust hose must be connected and draw at least
125 CFM at the point of connection at all times as it
is essential for removing harmful vapors away from the
instrument. Vapors should be vented into a fume hood by
means of the exhaust hose only.
1.1. Locate the exhaust hose and the hose clamp in the accessory kit.
1.2. Place the hose clamp onto the exhaust port located at the top of
the BLADE.
1.3. Connect one end of the hose to the exhaust port.
1.4. Press the exhaust hose all the way down onto the port and then
use the hose clamp to tighten the hose onto the exhaust port.
1.5. Connect the opposite end of the exhaust hose to a fume hood
that pulls a minimum of 125 CFM at point of connection using the
provided clamp if necessary.
1.6. In the rare event of condensation forming in the exhaust, a drain
line can be connected by installing user supplied parts.
2. Install the correct fuses as outlined below. (Figure 5)
2.1. Remove the two (2) fuse holders from the back of the instrument
by twisting counter clockwise.
2.2. Locate the correct fuses inside the accessory kit.
• 120 VAC: 15 A fuse (F15AH250V)
• 200 & 240 VAC: 10 A fuse (F10AH250V)
WARNING
Incorrect fuse size may result in re or inadequate
equipment protection.
15 A fuse (F15AH250V): 120 VAC
10 A fuse (F10AH250V): 200 & 240 VAC
2.3. Install the supplied fuses into the fuse holders.
2.4. Install the fuse and holders into the instrument and twist clock-
wise until tight.
3. Plug the power cord into the back of the instrument and into a dedicated,
grounded outlet. The instrument is supplied with a power cord, but an ade-
