CEM Phoenix BLACK Nitrogen Purge Operating instructions

  • Hello! I'm a chat assistant, and I've reviewed the document regarding the Nitrogen Purge Kit for CEM's Phoenix BLACK series, including Phoenix BLACK, Phoenix BLACK AirWave, and Phoenix BLACK Sulfated Ashing systems. This document outlines the installation process of the kit, which enables an inert airflow within the furnace. It also details the necessary steps for connecting to a nitrogen source and setting the appropriate pressure. I am ready to address your questions about the kit or its usage.
  • What is the purpose of the Nitrogen Purge Kit?
Which systems are compatible with this kit?
What is the recommended nitrogen pressure?

Introduction
The Nitrogen Purge Kit allows for an inert airow within the furnace and is compatible with the Phoenix BLACK, Phoenix
BLACK AirWave and Phoenix BLACK Sulfated Ashing systems.
Depending on the Phoenix BLACK conguration, this document should be used in conjunction with the Phoenix BLACK
Manual (P/N 600977) or Phoenix BLACK Sulfate Ash Manual (P/N 600978). Read and fully understand all documentation
before operating the instrument.
Installation
1. Carefully insert the quartz glass tube through the hole in the thermo-
couple access door. Place the tube down into the furnace until it
stops.
2. Position the elbow towards the back of the system.
3. Carefully place the ¼” connector onto the quartz glass tube and
tighten the tting until resistance is felt.
4. Use the 1/8" connector to connect to a nitrogen source.
5. Set the nitrogen pressure at 30 psi. Adjust pressure as needed to
meet desired ashing conditions.
