3.4 Mounting and setting up
SmartDisc 02isdesignedforuseinspecificambientconditions.Conditions
deviating from these can cause damage to the device, or to the recorded
data. Warranty will be voided in this case. Please maintain the ambient
conditionsdescribedbelowwhenusingyourSmartDisc 02device.
General safety information
Makesuretocarefullyreadandunderstandthismanualbeforeoperating
thedevice.
Donotexposethedevicetostrongvibrationorshock.
Avoid humidity or dust, extreme temperature fluctuations, or strong
magneticfields.
TheoperatingtemperatureforSmartDisc 02isbetween+5°Cand+40°C.
Provide sufficient ventilation. Do not block vents. Provide sufficient air
circulationforcupboardinstallations.
Neverexposethedevicetodirectsunlight.Keepitwellawayfromother
sourcesofheat(radiators,etc.).
Installationorientation: vertical, horizontal,with adeviation of not more
than±5°.
It is essential that you maintain the required ambient conditions for
outdoorinstallations.Protectthedeviceagainstatmosphericinfluence.
Waitforatleast10secondsafterswitchingoffthedevicebeforeturningit
onagain.
Alwaysusetheoriginalpowersupplyunitwiththerespectivecable.Useit
onlyforthededicated voltage.Ensurethatthe cableis intact.Neveruse
damagedcables.
Selectaninstallationsiteprotectedagainstburglaryandvandalism.Ensure
unrestrictedventilation.
Make sure that specification limits are not exceeded when connecting
externaldevices.

Always make sure that your hands are completely dry before touching
SmartDisc
02, the power supply unit, cables, or sockets. Never touch
thesewithwethands.
Disconnectthedevicefromthepowersupplybypullingattheplug,notat
thecable.Neverpullatthecable.
Ifwateroranyotherliquidentersthedevice,immediatelydisconnectthe
powersupply.Havethedevicecheckedbycustomerservice.
Thedevicecontains no components that canbe adjusted or repaired by
theuser.Thedevicehousingmustneverbeopenedever.
OnlyauthorisedstaffmayopenthehousingforinstallingISDN Cardsor
Audio
Cards.Theinstructionsintheincludedmanualsmustbeobserved.

Overview of software for operation, alarm verification, and configuration
SmartDisc 02isastandaloneunit.Onceinstalledandconfigured,itreactsto
events, records these on a continuous or on an event-triggered basis,
transmitsand/orsavesvideoand/oraudiodata,alarmstolocalandremote
receiver units, and additionally logs protocols locally. Only one of the
following software packets, developed by
Vista especially for CCTV
applications,isrequiredforthePCbasedreceiver/evaluationunit.

dependingonconfiguration.Thisfeatureisonlyavailableifacamera
sequencehasbeenprogrammed.
1. Press pushbutton Vout to stop a camera sequence. The camera
currentlyswitchedonwillremainactiveaslongasthe pushbuttonis
pressed.
2. Releasing the button restarts the camera sequence with a delayed
switchtothenextcamerainthesequencerlist.
3. Switch sequencer cameras manually by: Stopping the
sequence as
describedunder1.Brieflyreleasethepushbuttonandpressagainto
switch to the next camera. Release the pushbutton and keep it
releasedtoactivatesequencer mode.

7LEDLive-blue Flashing up of LED Live during online connection indicates ongoing
picture transmission. The interval is determined by the image rate,
which in turn is defined by connection speed (bit rate) and the
SmartDisc 02operatingmode.
8LEDRecord-blue An
illuminatedLEDRecordindicatesharddiskaccesscausedbyimage
writeoperationsandsystemaccess,liketransmissionofdateandtime
data.

3.7 Pin assignment and functionality
General
All terminals are pluggable. It is recommended to remove the screw type
terminal for wiring, especially of the terminal block. This makes wiring of
incomingandoutgoinglinesmoreconvenient.Thescrewtypeterminalsare
groupedbyfunctionality.

adelayedswitchtothenext
camerainthesequencerlist.
3. Switch sequencer cameras manually by: Stopping the
sequenceasdescribedunder1.Toswitchonthenextcamera,
briefly switch the control input to high resistance and then
again to ground. To activate sequencer mode, keep the
controlinput
switchedtohighresistance.
