RT
device version 4.08 and was created in January 2014.
See the installation CD or our website (http://www.vista-cctv.com) for the current firmware version.

Connection options for cameras
The SmartCF
RT
can be equipped with a maximum of either one analogue and one IP camera or with two IP
cameras.

1.1 Front View and Description

During the device shutdown process, any ongoing write operations on the
storage medium are first concluded before the video system is finally shut
down.

l A permanently-illuminated LED indicates video signal failure of the
respective video input.
l When all video LEDs flash simultaneously, this indicates preparation of an
HDD standby (for example prior to switching off the video system).
l A LED chaser light from left to right and from right to left indicates hard
disk initialisation.

5 LED Record - blue An illuminated Record LED indicates storage medium write-access, e.g.
caused by image recording or system-related access, such as transmission of
date and time data.
6 LED Online - blue A permanently-illuminated LED indicates an online connection.

Card Type I; 2 up to 32 GB - not included) including eject button.
8 SIM Slot for SIM cards (format ID-000, 25 × 15 mm and accordingly Mini SIM).

Connection of an additional IP camera or of the two maximum possible IP cameras is effected via the
Ethernet interface. It may be necessary for a switch to be interconnected.

1.5 Standard Switching for Control Inputs
The SmartCF
RT
has a number of control inputs (Al a/d, Control in1, Control in2, Aux in). However these inputs
are not galvanically isolated from the operating voltage of the device.
Depending on the configuration, these can be activated by "Normally closed" or "Normally opened" contacts.
Note: The control inputs must always be activated such that they are potential-free.
Input circuits of control inputs
1.6 Wiring Variants for Voltage-monitored Control Inputs
In addition to standard wiring of control inputs, the SmartCF
RT
permits different types of voltage monitoring.
Normally terminated (10k)
The wiring variant Normally terminated (10k) allows different circuitry for "Normally opened" and "Normally
closed".

For circuitry with a resistance, a distinction is made between two different states:
l Not triggered: The figures show the safe state in each case (not triggered) of the detector line or the
control input for the variants "Normally opened" and "Normally closed".
l Camera alarm: If the "Normally opened" or "Normally closed" contact is operated, depending on the type
of circuit, a camera alarm is activated. Manipulations of the detector line such as interruption or short
circuit cause triggering as soon as the SmartCF
RT
no longer measures the predefined control resistance

Control input
In the wiring variant Normally closed BS 8418 with two resistances a distinction is made between three
different states:
l Not triggered: The figure shows the safe state (not triggered) of the detector line or the control input.
l Camera alarm: If the "Normally closed" contact is operated, a camera alarm is activated.
l Sabotage alarm: If the detector line is interrupted or shorted, a sabotage alarm is activated.

1.7 Initial Setup Operation
1.7.1 Installation of SmartControl
The scope of delivery (See "Included in Delivery" on page 7) for your SmartCF
RT
includes the installation CD.
Install SmartControl to commission the device.
To operate the software, the user requires read/write rights on the receiver PC (administrator rights).
Online help
Using an installed Adobe Reader, there is a context-sensitive help available for SmartControl; you can call
this up via the F1 key or using the Help button.
Port A configuration
After starting the SmartControl software, it may be necessary to modify the settings for Port A. To do this,
select the Setup button and in the Receiver options dialogue window the option Port A. Confirm the changes
made using OK.
Relevant changes:

connection and 3G/UMTS) to the device

Driver installation
For a USB connection, if required the corresponding driver must be installed on your receiver PC. The driver
can be found in the SmartControl program directory, sub-directory \Drivers. If necessary, please consult the
detailed information on driver installation from the SmartControl software manual.
Establishing the connection to the device
Start SmartControl. Click on the Dial button and in the Transmitter index dialogue window, select the entry
USB Direct Connection. Establish a connection to the device using Dial.
To change the settings for the device. (See "Parameter settings for the device" on page 11).

1.7.3 TCP/IP Crossover Connection from SmartControl to the Device
Preparing the receiver PC
Your Vista SmartCF can be accessed when in its default status or following a device reset using the following
IP address: 192.168.31.95
Note: The precondition for communication via a TCP/IP crossover network cable between the SmartCF
and the receiver PC with SmartControl is that the devices are located in the same IP address group
(here: 192.168.31.x).
Check and if necessary change the TCP/IP settings for the network interface (Start\System Control\Network
Connections\LAN Connection\Properties\Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)), via which your device is connected via
the TCP/IP crosslink cable.
l Note down the current settings for the IP-address and Subnet mask.
l Change these settings:
l IP address (e.g.): 192.168.31.66
l Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
Establishing the connection to the device
Start SmartControl. Click on the Dial button. In the Transmitter index dialogue window, click on the Add
button and then select from the next selection menu Add new transmitter.
In the dialogue window, enter a transmitter name and the IP address for the device. IP Address:
192.168.31.95
Confirm the dialogue window with OK.
Select the new entry using the transmitter name. Establish a connection to the device using Dial.
To change the settings for the device. (See "Parameter settings for the device" on page 11).
Follow-up preparation of the receiver PC
Once the settings for the device have been made, you may need to change the receiver PC IP address and
Subnet mask to allow connection.

1.7.4 Parameter settings for the device
After establishing the connection to the device, click on the Setup button to open the Recorder settings
dialogue window.

l 3G/UMTS programming (only with 3G/GPS Module): Connections\Wireless WAN (See "Programming of
3G/UMTS connection of the device (only SmartCFRT with 3G/GPS Module)" on page 11)

l HTconnect programming: Connections\HTconnect
l Arming and alarms: Alarms and sub-points
l Recording options, archive passwords etc.: Site Archive and sub-points
Transmitting settings
To save the settings, confirm the change made using OK, so that the data is transmitted to the device.
For detailed information on device programming, if necessary please consult Chapter 7 of the SmartControl
software manual.
1.7.5 Programming of 3G/UMTS connection of the device (only

with 3G/GPS Module)
After establishing the connection to the device, click on the Setup button to open the Recorder settings
dialogue window. To program the 3G/ UMTS, select the menu Connections\Wireless WAN.
3G/UMTS programming
The 3G/UMTS modem manufacturer and type will appear in the upper status window. In addition you will be
notified whether a connection to the provider exists.
The graphic below shows information on the signal quality and/or the power level.
Overview of settings
l PIN (Personal Identification Number): The PIN is required depending on the programming of the SIM
(Subscriber Identity Module) card.
l User name: This setting is provider-dependent.
l Password: This setting is provider-dependent.

l APN (Access Point Name): The APN access data should normally be in the following order:
1,"IP","<PROVIDER APN>"
l Example data for German providers:
l Vodafone:1,"IP","web.vodafone.de"
l T-Mobile: 1,"IP","internet.t-d1.de" or 1,"IP","internet.t-mobile"
l E-Plus: 1,"IP","internet.eplus.de"
l o2: 1,"IP","surfo2"
l Dial in number: The standard dial in number for Internet connections via 3G/UMTS or GPRS is *99#.
Depending on the mobile telephone provider it may be necessary to enter *99*1# or *99***1# as dial in
number.
Note: The settings listed here may need to be configured with different information, depending on the
APN for your provider.
For example in the case of access data (User name and Password) there are providers by which
these entries can remain empty, whereas others require a definite or indefinite entry.
Always contact your mobile phone provider with regard to current access data.
l Initialisation command 1: The predefined command sequence ATE0V1&D2&C1S0=0+IFC=2,2
generally ensures correct initialisation of the internal 3G/UMTS modem.
l Initialisation command 2: A further command sequence enables further provider-dependent adjustment
of the internal 3G/UMTS modem where necessary.
l Reset Adapter every: This drop-down list menu allows you to specify how often you want to reset the
internal 3G/UMTS modem. Certain installations may require the internal 3G/UMTS modem to be reset at
periodic intervals in order to ensure the availability of the device. Please note that this interval is reset
after each connection and that the adapter cannot be reset during active connections.
l With recording pause: Select this option to pause the recording of image data during resetting of the
adapter.
l MTU (Maximum Transmission Unit): This setting is provider-dependent, standard value: 1500.
l MRU (Maximum Receive Unit): This setting is provider-dependent, standard value: 1500.
Transmitting settings
To conclude device settings, confirm the change made using OK, so that the data is transmitted to the device.
For detailed information on device programming, if necessary please consult Chapter 7 of the SmartControl
software manual.

1.7.6 Testing the Alarm
After changing the settings, it is recommended that testing is carried out to confirm device operation.
Note: As an example, an alarm via the Aux in1 input is described (see Aux in1” in "Rear View and
Description" on page 5).
This contact, described as the tamper input, is particularly suitable for this, because an alarm is
given regardless of the arming/disarming of the device. This input can be programmed as a
"Normally opened" contact or a "Normally closed" contact (standard: normally opened).
Model alarm using Aux in1
l Take the relevant transmission routes into operation.
l Check the dial-up number(s) for alarms: Connections\Phone & IP numbers (if necessary to your receiver
PC or to the control station) (See "Parameter settings for the device" on page 11).
l Ensure that the device is not in the alarm status.
l
Close the connection from Aux in1 and to the relevant device ground for at least 500 ms.
l Check to see whether the alarm is correctly sent to your receiver PC or to the control station.
SmartControl should report "Online/Tamper alarm" in the status line bottom right in this case:
Note: If using a general alarm control input or camera-specific control input for alarm testing, please
ensure that the Smart device is armed beforehand.
