INSTALLATION AND MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONS
ELECTROHYDRAULIC VALVE ACTUATOR SKB62
For type VVF31 and VXF31 valves with a 20 mm lift in heating, air
handling and cooling systems for the regulation of heating and cooling
water.
TECHNICAL/MECHANICAL CONFIGURATION
When the control signal is increasing (0...10VDC/0...1000 Ω) the
hydraulic pump that is built into the actuator pumps oil from the
suction chamber into the pressure chamber. As a result of this the
valve stem is forced inwards and the valve opens.
When the control signal is decreasing (0...10VDC/0...1000 Ω) the return
valve opens and the hydraulic oil in the pressure chamber is forced
to flow back to the suction chamber by the pressure of the return
spring built into the actuator. As a result of this the valve stem is forced
outwards and the valve closes.
The actuator has a factory fitted fail safe function, i.e. if the control
signal or supply voltage are interrupted the actuator returns to the 0
position.
Maintenance free electrohydraulic actuator.
Swing piston pump in the pressure cylinder for opening the valve.
Return spring and return valve for closing the valve.
Equipped with a fail safe function.
Position for integrating double auxiliary contacts and a lift stroke
limiter.
Can be equipped with a stem heater.
Equipped with a manual adjustment knob and position indication.
CONTROL SIGNAL DC 0...10 V AND 0...1000 Ω
The valve opens or closes in proportion to the control signal at Y or R.
At a control signal of 0 VDC or 0 Ω the valve is closed (A AB).
SELECTING A CONTROL CURVE
A logarithmic or linear flow characteristic can be selected using a
blade contact in the circuit board under the housing. The actuator
electronics are supplied set to a logarithmic flow characteristic.

CALIBRATION POTENTIOMETER
The calibration potentiometer is used to obtain conformity between the
supply voltage and valve lift. The potentiometer need only be adjusted
when the voltage on terminal U is being used for external indication,
e.g. for an indication device, management system or for position-de-
pendent switching.
Lift height 0%: permissible voltage on terminal U = min. DC 0.03... max.
0.4 V.
INSTALLATION
Installation must be carried out in accordance with local regulations
and in accordance with the apparatus and connection diagrams.
Safety instructions and constraints for the protection of personnel and
property are to be observed unconditionally!
The stem heater ASZ6.5 has a heat output of 30 VA and will keep the
valve stem free of ice at temperatures in the range 0 °C...-25 °C.
To ensure air circulation the actuator console and stem must not be
insulated. Touching heated components can cause burns. The failure
to comply with these instructions can result in accidents and a risk of
fire!
Observe the permitted temperatures!
ASSEMBLY
There are instructions for fitting the actuator onto the valve on the
actuator enclosure.

COMMISSIONING
When commissioning check the electrical connection and carry out a
functional inspection.
Check or make the adjustments for auxiliary contacts, the potentiome-
ter and lift stroke limiter.
If the manual crank is turned anti-clockwise to its stop position, the
Landis & Staefa VVF and VXF type valves will close (lift = 0 %).
AUTOMATIC OPERATION
For automatic operation the crank must be fully recessed into the
manual adjustment knob. If this is not the case turn the crank an-
ti-clockwise until neither the adjustment scale nor the crank engage-
ment bar can be seen in the display window.
MANUAL OPERATION
For manual operation lift the crank so that the display window is visi-
ble. By turning the manual adjustment knob or the crank the engage-
ment bar and/or adjustment scale with the lift indicator will become
visible in the display window.
DISPOSAL
Equipment containing electrical and electronic components that must
not be disposed of as household waste. This applies in particular to
the printed circuit board. Statutory regulations or ecological demands
require the separate handling of specific components.
Applicable local legislation must always be observed.

MAINTENANCE
The actuators are maintenance free. To service the actuator:
Disconnect all pumps and the power supply.
Close all shut-off valves in the pipework.
Depressurise the lines and let them cool down.
If necessary disconnect the electrical wiring from
the terminal blocks.
The actuator can only be taken into service again
when it has been correctly installed on the valve.
