Note: Wireless Networks (WiFi) may interfere with and/or experience

interference caused by the transmitter

in this unit. Changing the receiver to another channel/frequency or setting

the Wireless Network (i.e. Wireless

Access Point) to a frequency further away from the camera’s set frequency

Can alleviate this problem.

Consult the documentation of your Wireless LAN device for information

on how to change the transmission frequency. These cameras work

with most wireless camera receivers that support 2414MHz,

2432MHz, 2450MHz and 2468MHz.

WHAT IS IN THIS PACKAGE?

GETTING TO KNOW YOUR CAMERA

Thank you for purchasing a Swann SpyCam. This SpyCam uses the very latest technology to

deliver full colour, full resolution video, and the extremely small size and simple installation

make it ideal for use in home security or surveillance.

Inside the box you will find:

• 1 x SpyCam

• 1 x 9V DC Power Transformer

• 1 x 9v Battery adapter

The Swann SpyCam is very simple in design, the main components being:

HOW IT ALL WORKS

The Swann SpyCam has two cables which must be connected in order to operate:

The camera must be powered by one of the

following methods:

for mains power

(battery life of approx.12 hours with a quality alkaline battery).

9V DC Power Transformer

Battery Adapter Cable connected to a 9v Alkaline Battery

The video cable must be connected to the “VIDEO IN” plug of a

Video Display device like a Television, VCR, or Swann’s

EzyCapture Card.

If you want to view the footage live, just connect

directly to a televisions A/V input.

To record your footage, connect the camera to

a VCR. With a television connected to the

VCR, the recorded footage can then be

played back.

Select a location to position your SpyCam where it has an unobstructed view and is not easily

detected -

for example:

• above a cash register

• overlooking a stock room or reception area

• entry point of a building

Ensure there is clear access for cables (power and video) for your Camera.

Step 1.

CAMERA INSTALLATION

Fix your camera to the selected surface by:

• using the attached double-sided adhesive on the back of the camera,

making sure that the lens area is kept clear (as shown in the diagram below)

• Use Blu-Tack for quick and easy installation onto a surface eg. shelf

Connect the Power Cable to the selected power source, mains power with the use of the DC

Power Transformer or battery power with the use of the battery adapter cable and a 9v alkaline

battery.

Then connect the Video Cable to the RCA to RCA Adapter and then to the ‘Video In’ jack

located at the back of your viewing device, eg. television, VCR or Swann’s EzyCapture Card.

You may need to tune your televison or VCR to view footage from your camera. To do this

consult their respective manuals.

Focusing the Lens

Focus your camera by rotating the lens:

• Rotate clockwise for wide-angle viewing.

• Rotate anti-clockwise for Macro (see illustration)

USING YOUR SWANN SPYCAM

When setting up your SpyCam and subject, try to place the camera between the light source

and the subject. Where this is not convenient, try to keep the light source out of the view of

the camera.

Like a camcorder or other video camera, your camera requires a certain

light level to produce good images and images with good colour.

A position lit with daylight is ideal for the camera. Bright flourescent lighting should give good

results. Subdued indoor lighting is sometimes too dark for the camera.

This camera is not designed for outdoor use, and should not be exposed to extremes of

temperature or humidity.

The lens of the Swann SpyCam rarely needs cleaning, but if required, a dry lint-free cloth is

recommended.

Macro lens allows you to film at incredible magnification. Screw the lens fully outwards, and

place the camera at a minimum of 4cm from the subject

- Great as a teaching aid.

television - check who is at the door without leaving

Monitor your baby, or children playing outside, with a

SpyCam connected to your television or computer.

INSTALLATION IDEAS

Install camera behind a picture or sign.

Drill a 4mm hole through the surface,

making sure that there is enough

space behind the picture for the

camera, and access to power and

output device.

Before disassembling the detector, please

refer to the manufacturers safety

instructions. Drill a hole through the shell,

secure the SpyCam in place with Blu-Tack

or double-sided adhesive, making sure the

lens is unobstructed. Drill a hole through

the ceiling for the cables.

Install camera in a dummy smoke detector.

Camera hidden inside a teddy bear.

Perfect for a child’s room. Make an incision at the

back of the teddy bear, remove some of the

stuffing, and make a 4mm hole in the front of the

bear. Secure the camera in place and re-fill with

stuffing. The cables can be accessed through the

incision at the back of the bear.

View hard to see places with your SpyCam

When attached to a long stick or pole, the SpyCam is very

handy to view hard to

reach spots.

• Save trapped animals

• Check for root damage to underground pipes

• Explore wall cavities

- The possibilities are endless.

Install camera inside a clock.

Drill a 4mm hole through the face of a clock.

Secure the SpyCam behind (as shown in the

diagram).

Play "Find the Camera”

• Set up your SpyCam at a party and get everyone to guess where it is.

• Capture the antics of your guests for hilarious playback later.

DIY Karaoke Videos

Record your own karaoke film clips and use them at parties for

a great night of fun!

The SpyCam is not only a great security and surveillance

tool, with a bit of imagination you can have hours of fun with

it too.

Its amusing to see how people behave when you put a

camera in front of them. Plug it in and everyone wants to

make a fool of themselves...

Plug the SpyCam into your VCR and record your own Movies.
