General Warnings
The operator must be medically trained in manual therapy. Enraf-Nonius cannot be
held responsible for the erroneous execution of manual therapy which may lead to
injuries to the patient
The operator must be familiar with the equipment and this user manual
Misapplication of the operating instructions may lead to injuries to the patient
Do not treat patients with absolute contra - indications
Do not remove any housing parts. Service must be performed by the manufacturer
or an authorized service technician.
If the patient has long hair, the practitioner must provide a hairnet to the patient in
order to prevent the hair from getting trapped between the moving parts of the
hexapod.
The maximum permitted patient weight on the couch is 200 kg.
Maintain your Occiflex in accordance with the stated guidelines (see chapter 13).
Always remain at a sufficient distance from a device.
The Occiflex is subject to special EMC regulations and must be installed and
maintained in accordance with the EMC information as specified elsewhere in this
user manual (see chapter 15, technical specifications).
Portable and mobile radio-frequency devices may affect your Occiflex.
Your Occiflex may not be used in the immediate vicinity of other equipment. Should
this nonetheless prove necessary, the proper functioning of the device must be
demonstrable and evident.
The device must not be installed near a source of heat such as a radiator. Exposure
to direct sunlight, excessive dust, moisture, vibrations, and impacts must be avoided.
The Occiflex computer with Occilink software is a dedicated system. No other
software should be installed on this PC. This PC should also not be connected to the
internet (see chapter 5).
During use of the Occiflex, whether it is in therapy, recording or any other state,
press one of the emergency stops if movement of the hexapod, hexapod slider or
bed motors (seems to) go out of control and/or causus pain to the patient or any
other party. See chapter 11 Emergency stops.
Warnings with regards to the CROM tests, recording and therapy.
Before performing a CROM test, recording or therapy under paramedical training
supervision, a number of important conditions must be met. These Conditions are:
The participant must receive clear information about the test, recording or therapy.
The caregiver states the purpose, how long it is going to take, what is going to
happen and what is expected of the person concerned.
There must be sufficient attention to the standardisation of the environmental
conditions; temperature (5 - 30 °C), humidity (10 - 90%) and atmospheric pressure:
500 - 1060 hPa.
The device may not be used in surroundings where physical agents like draft and
sound (especially high frequency sounds [i.e. construction sounds like hammering
and drilling, ultrasound sources from burglary prevention systems, etc) are manifest.
These agents might interfere with the Occiflex measurement sensors and will cause
the recording to be inaccurate!
