Product liability, information obligation
Product liability obliges manufacturers and dealers to issue operating instructions for the machine at the point of sale and to instruct
the customer on the operation, safety and maintenance regulations governing the machine.
A confirmation is required to verify that the machine and operating instructions have been handed over correctly.
For this purpose
- Document A is to be signed and returned to Pöttinger or via the internet to www.poettinger.at
- Document B remains with the specialist dealer handing over the machine.
- The customer receives document C.
For the purposes of product liability law, every farmer is an entrepreneur.
In the terms of product liability law, damage to property is any damage arising due to the machine, but not to the machine, and an
excess (500 euros) exists for this liability.
Corporate damage to property within the terms of the product liability law is excluded from this liability.
Be advised! The operating instructions must also be handed over with any subsequent machine sale or transfer and the transferee
must be instructed in the regulations stated.

Meaning of warning signs
Never reach into the crushing danger area as long as
parts may move.
Do not enter rotor area while drive motor is running.

For the legal road transport height of < 4 m, it is imperative
that the hydraulic cylinder settings (in the part image on
the left) be maintained (See chapter Transport position
HIT 6.80 T for details)

1. Attach machine to tractor's 3-point linkage.

First attachment without feeler wheel:
If the hatch (1) isn't screwed together with
the slot, then fix the hatch (1) in the slot
using screw (3) and the associated pipe.

swing out sidewards.
3. Retract front (5) and back (6) support stands, and secure
with linchpins.

5. Detach cardan shaft
Check the cardan shaft length before
initial use and adapt if necessary (see
Chapter "Adapting the cardan shaft" in
Supplement B.
6. Connect hydraulic hoses
1x single-acting for lifting and lowering the boom
1 x double-acting for the fenceline tedding system
(optional)
7. Connect electrical cable for lighting
8. Lay rope into the tractor cabin.
9. Check that the guard hoop on both sides at the front do
not collide with the tractor's rear wheels. (at full steering
lock)
With HIT 6.61, set the telescopic guard hoop so that
a collision is avoided with the rear wheels when at full
lock. Fix the guard hoop in this position using screws.
Attaching HIT 6.80 T
1. Attach the drawbar to the middle hole of the tractor's
linkage drawbar (S).
2. Secure positioning pin with linchpin (V)
- The linkage drawbar must be rotatable (A - B)

c. Secure support stand winder with linchpin (12)
5. Adjust working height (see chapter "Adjusting the
Working Height of a HIT 6.80T").
6. Install cardan shaft on machine and tractor.
Before initial use with any tractor, check
the cardan shaft length and adapt it to the
tractor if necessary (see chapter "Adapting
the cardan shaft" in Supplement B.
7. Swivel cardan shaft retainer into working position

PARKING THE MACHINE
Parking the machine
The machine can be parked in either the working position
or the transport position.
Danger of tipping
Park the machine on level, firm ground.
If the ground is soft, the support stand
area is to be enlarged appropriately using
suitable material (e.g. wooden planks).
1. Use pin to secure the pivoting headstock locking device
in position (B) for transport.

4. Disconnect hydraulic hoses
5. Disconnect cardan shaft and place on cardan shaft
retainer(4).

This prevents unintentional battery discharge e.g. during
the night.
7. Unhitch unit from tractor.

The cardan shaft retainer can be folded in and out by
switching from the working position (1) to the parking
position (2) or vice versa.

The machine must only be parked in the
transport position.
Always park the unit ensuring the greatest
stability!
- Use supports stands (5)
- Secure support stands properly.
- Park machine on level, firm ground.
- Secure machine against rolling.

Cleaning of machine parts
Be advised! Do not use a high pressure cleaner to clean
bearings and hydraulic parts.
- Danger of rusting!
- After cleaning, lubricate the machine according to the
lubrication plan and carry out a brief test run.
- Cleaning with too much pressure may damage the paint.
Parking in the open
• When parked outside for longer periods, clean rods
then coat with grease.

Winter storage
- Thoroughly clean the machine beforehand.
- Put up weather protection.
- Protect exposed parts from rust.
- Lubricate all lubrication points according to plan.
- Park machine with rotors swivelled up.

Driving on public roads
Safety information!
Changing from working to transport position
and vice versa must only be carried out on
level, firm ground.
• Observe the statutory regulations for your country/state.
Supplement C contains information on attaching a
lighting system, valid for Germany.
• It is only permitted to drive on public roads as described
in the chapter "Transport position".
Beware!
Only transport the machine in the transport
position!
Note: Setting transport height for
T-machines.
Before travelling on public roads, ensure
that the bracket (3) has engaged in the
stop (2), otherwise the legal maximum
transport height will be exceeded.

- Make certain that the swivel range is clear and that

Be advised!
Observe the order of operation.
1. Lower lifting gear. The machine must stand on the centre
wheel pair on the ground.
2. Swivel rotor up. The outer rotors are swivelled into
transport position by actuating the control valve (ST).
The mechanical transport safeguard (10) locks
automatically!

4. Secure the slot.
With the feeler wheel option, the upper linkage bolt
is fitted in the slot: Secure the slot using the flap (4)
during road transport. This will prevent the machine
from inadvertently moving in a longitudinal direction.
Transport position for HIT 6.80 T
Switch off the p.t.o. and wait for the rotors
to come to a standstill.
Ensure that the swivel range is clear and
that no-one is standing in the danger area.
Note:
If the machine is tilting forward or the rotor
arms are vertical, then the legal transport
height will not be exceeded.
If the machine is tilting backward then
it is over 4m high and exceeds the legal
transport height.

Safety advice!
Switching from working to transport
position and vice versa is only to be
carried out on even, firm ground.
Ensure that the swivel area is clear and
that nobody is standing in the danger
area.

Observe the order of operation
1. Secure pivoting headstock.
Secure pivoting headstock in working position (A) using
pin (1).
Be advised!
Only reposition bolt (1) with machine
raised.

2. Release slot.
If the slot was locked during transport, release it with
swing valve (2) to enable the machine to adapt better
to the ground.
3. Lower machine. Lower the entire machine to the ground
using the tractor's lifting gear.
The machine must stand on the ground on the centre
wheel pair and still be in the transport position.
4. Release mechanical transport safeguard. Pulling on the
rope (S) will release the mechanical transport safeguard.
5. Lower rotors. Set tractor control unit (ST) to "Lower"
The rotors are swivelled down to working position.
Switching to working position HIT 6.80 T
1. Open stopcock (pos. E)
2. Pull on the rope (S) and simultaneously set the control
unit briefly to "Raise" thereby releasing the mechanical
locking mechanism.

3. Set tractor control unit (ST) to "Lower".
The machine is then parked on its centre wheel pair. The
chassis is raised slightly. The rotor arms are lowered.
Headland position
The headland position is needed for turning or
travelling in reverse.
Switching to headland position for HIT
6.61 / HIT 6.69 / HIT 6.80
Raise the tractor's lifting gear in order to reach
the headland position.
Switching to headland position for HIT
6.80 T
Actuate the tractor's control unit until all rotors
are raised and the machine is standing on the
transport frame.
Note:
The headland position is the same as the
position on the hydrolift end stop. See
chapter "Operation", Section "Hydrolift
for HIT 6.80 T"

OPERATION
General guidelines on working with the
machine
- Any work in the rotor area must only be undertaken
with the p.t.o. switched off and at standstill.
- Do not enter the rotor area as long as the drive motor
is running.

- Select a driving speed that enables the entire crop
to be gathered cleanly.
- If overloaded, change down a gear on the tractor
- Raise HIT 6.61 / HIT 6.80 with the lifting gear prior to
taking narrow bends and when reversing.
Machines with 3-point attachment!
The machine swivels automatically to
middle position (M) when lifted and is
locked in this position.
Make sure that the machine swivelling
does not endanger anyone and that it does
not hit any solid obstacles.
The lock is released automatically when
the machine is lowered.
- Bring the towed machine (HIT 6.80T) into the headland
position before any tight cornering or reversing. When
rotors are raised, the machine's weight burdens the
transport chassis.
Working on slopes
Be advised!
If the machine is raised with the lifting gear while cornering,
the machine automatically swivels to the middle position.
This can lead to hazardous situations on slopes due to the
machine's inertia (tipping, slipping, material breakage, etc.).
The damping struts (D) ensure that the swivelling procedure
is not jerky, but slow and continuous.
Damping struts (not HIT 6.80T)
The damping struts ensure the machine travels smoothly
during operation.
Setting:
Using countered bolt (1), the disc spring pretension can be
altered and with that the pressure of the friction elements
(R) on the push rod. This alters the damping characteristics.
Note: The performance of both damping
struts must be equally set.

Setting the rotor inclination
The rotor inclination can be set via the hole pattern
underneath the rotor cap. There are five positions for HIT
6.61, HIT 6.69 and HIT 6.80, and 3 positions for HIT 6.80 T.
So to adjust the machine's inclination, pin the hole pattern
(see fig.) for all rotors accordingly.
1. Raise the machine (HIT 6.61, HIT 6.69, HIT 6.80) using
the tractor's lifting gear
Bring the towed machine (HIT 6.80 T) into the headland
position.
2. Pull the linchpin out of the bolt
3. Pull the bolt out of the hole pattern.
4. Insert the bolt in the required hole pattern.
5. Secure the bolt with the linchpin.
6. Lower the rotor into working position.

Adjusting the working height of
machines with 3-point linkage
Without feeler wheel:
- Set the length of the upper linkage so that the rotor
tilts forward and the front spring tines have a ground
clearance of approx. 1-3 cm to a flat asphalt surface.
(See Chapter "Setting the rotor incline").
With feeler wheel (optional)
1. Setting the required rotor incline
2. Open the slot locking mechanism (1)

3. Establish the desired ground clearance using the
tractor's lifting gear. Under normal conditions, the front
tine ground clearance should be 1-3 cm above a flat
asphalt surface.
4. Pin feeler wheel at ground level
5. Lower the lower linkage completely so that the machine
travels on the feeler wheel.
6. Set the upper linkage length so that when the feeler wheel
is on the ground and the lower linkage is completely
lowered, the upper linkage bolt is in the middle of the
slot.
- Check the setting of the upper linkage (9) frequently
during operation.
Adjusting the working height of the HIT
6.80T
Be advised!
Do not enter rotor area while drive motor
is running.
- The working position means the machine is lowered
and the running wheels (3) are on the ground.
1. By turning the threaded spindle (1), set the distance
(X) between the cardan shaft and the top edge of the
connecting flange, between the drawbar and drive frame.
- The distance (X) should be at least 120 mm in the
working position.

2. Adjust the distance of the front tines to the ground.
- When correctly set, the front rotor tines should have a
ground clearance of 1cm - 2cm.
Observe the rotor inclination also (see chapter
"Operation")
Setting the tine inclination
The tine position can be changed by turning the tine
holder (80).
• Position "S1"
Standard setting (factory setting)
• Position "S2"
For difficult conditions e.g. very dense, heavy fodder.
The spreading effect is increased in this tine position.
• Direction of rotation "R"
Take note when fitting the tines:

Two possibilities for setting:
1. Mechanical adjustment of the running wheels
(only for machines with 3-point linkage)

There are 3 positions for the running wheels: 20° left /
neutral / 20° right. The running wheels can be adjusted
centrally using lever (2).
1. Release spring-loaded bolt (1)
2. Place lever (2) in required position
3. Allow pin (1) to click into place.
2. Hydraulic adjustment of the running wheels
There are 3 positions for the running wheels: 20° left /
neutral / 20° right. The running wheels can be adjusted
centrally from the tractor using the second double-acting
control unit.
- Set control unit to "raise" to position the running
wheels to the left
- Set control unit to "lower" to position the running
wheels to the right.
