Clean and Inspect
1. Clean all metal parts in cleaning solvent. The solvent should
be environmentally safe.
2. Inspect all parts for wear and/or damage.
Replace as necessary.
3. Closely inspect the mating surfaces of all components for
any imperfections. Ensure a smooth and clean contact is
obtained when assembled.
Assembly
NOTE: Prior to assembly, certain components
require lubrication in oil. Refer to Table 2 for
details.
Overhaul
NOTE: Refer to Figure 3 for compo-
nent identification on the major compo-
nents of the valve assembly.
Prior to performing any maintenance procedure,
the following safety precautions must be observed.
Personal injury may occur.
WARNING
Do not use halogenated hydrocarbon
solvents such as methylene chloride or 1,1,1
trichloroethane in this valve assembly. An
explosion can result within an enclosed device
capable of containing pressure when alumi-
num and/or zinc-plated parts come in contact
with halogenated hydrocarbon solvents.
Release all pressure within the system prior to
performing any overhaul procedure.
Disconnect the air supply line from the
pump motor.
Into an appropriate container, operate the
control valve to discharge remaining pres-
sure within the system.
Never point a control valve at any portion of
your body or another person. Accidental dis-
charge of pressure and/or material can result
in personal injury.
Read each step of the instructions carefully.
Make sure a proper understanding is achieved
before proceeding.
Disassembly
NOTE: The following procedures pertain to
both models of control valves.
IMPORTANT: Adapter (18) is under spring
pressure. Use care during removal.
1. Unscrew Adapter (18) from Body (9).
2. Remove Spring (19) from the Body.
3. Loosen Guide (20) from Nut (17).
4. Unscrew and remove the Guide and Nut from Rod
(5 or 8).

Test
WARNING
Do not exceed the lowest pressure rating
of any component in the system.
Never point a control valve at any portion of your
body or another person. Material discharged at
high velocity can penetrate the skin and cause
severe injury. Should any material appear to punc-
ture the skin, get medical care immediately.
Ensure all components are in operable condition.
Replace any suspect parts prior to operation.
Should leakage occur anywhere within the system,
disconnect power to the pump. Personal injury
can occur.
NOTE: Apply air pressure to allow the
pump to begin to cycle. Slowly increase the
air pressure to achieve the desired material
pressure.
1. Point the control valve into an appropriate collection
container.
2. Pull the control valve Handle and allow the material to
flow until it is free of air.
If the control valve does not dispense the product, refer
to the Troubleshooting Chart.
3. Release the Handle.
The control valve should show no external leakage
and no product should appear at the Nozzle.
If the valve leaks, refer to the Troubleshooting Chart.
