Special skills are necessary for installing this product. Be sure to ask the sales outlet or a service company (See the
User’s Manual of your Hitachi projector) to perform the installation job.
Pay particular attention to the following points when mounting a projector on the ceiling.
1. Give full consideration to the weight of the projector and the 6-axis adjusting ceiling mount in planning and
performing construction work.
2.
To protect itself, the projector has a temperature sensor that turns off the power if its internal temperature rises
abnormally. Follow the instructions below to prevent the temperature from rising abnormally.
(1) Use the projector within the operating temperature range shown in the User's Manual.
(2)Ifdustorotherforeignmattercollectsinsidetheproduct,thereisariskofreorelectricshock,aswellas
malfunction, problems with the projected image, etc.
Do not place the product where the humidity is high or there is a large amount of dust.
(3)Makesurethatthereisatleast50cmofspacearoundtheprojectorsothattherecanbeafreeowofairinto
the intake and from the exhaust.
(4) Do not install the projector where the ambient temperature changes rapidly, such as near air conditioning
equipment, or where it exceeds the upper operating temperature limit shown in the User's Manual.
3.
If residue from tobacco gets on the optics of the projector, it deteriorates its projection performance. Do not install in a
location subject to excessive tobacco smoke.
4.
The remote control may not function properly if the remote control signal receiver on the projector is subject to
stronglight,suchasdirectsunlight,oruorescentlightingatpointblankrange.Installsothereceiverisnotsubject
to direct light.

■ Donotattempttoinstalltheprojectoryourself.Haveyourdealerorservicecenterhandleall
installationwork.NotethatHitachiwillacceptnoliabilitywhatsoeverforaccidentsorinjuries
resulting from an incorrect installation or improper use.
■ Makesurethattheprojectorisinstalledhighenoughsothatthereisnoriskofpeoplebumpingtheir
heads.Ifasufcientlyhighinstallationcannotbemade,besuretotakethenecessaryprecautions
when the projector is used.
■ Donothangontheprojectororthe6-axisadjustingceilingmountafterinstallationasthiscould
cause the projector to fall down or bend the mount resulting in injury or damage.
■ Donotinstalltheprojectorinalocationexposedtohighhumidity,dustortobaccosmokeorina
location exposed to smoke or steam.
■ Donotinstalltheprojectorinalocationexposedtovibrations.
■ Afteryouhavenishedinstallation,keepthismanualandaccessoriesinasafeplaceforfuture
reference.
■ Smallpartscouldbeswallowedbychildrenandpetsandshouldbekeptoutoftheirreach.Ifyour
child swallows any small parts, consult a doctor immediately.
To service personnel
■ Performallinstallationworkcorrectlyaccordingtothismanual.Makesurethatallspeciedscrews
and brackets are used in the installation.
■ Considerablecareisrequiredinplanningandperformingtheinstallationsothatitwillsupportthe
weight of the projector and the 6-axis adjusting ceiling mount.
■ Neverattempttomodifythe6-axisadjustingceilingmount.
■ Makesurethatallscrewsaretightenedtothepropertorqueafterinstallationandadjustments.There
must be no loose or over tightened screws.
■ Donotuseadhesives,lubricants,lubricatingoilsorotherchemicalsdesignedtopreventloosening
of fasteners on screws and bolts used to secure the projector ceiling mount. The use of such
materials could cause the mount to fail and the projector to fall resulting in damage or injury.
■ Routeelectriccablesasprescribedandtakecarenottodamagethemintheinstallationwork.
■ BesuretoreadthismanualandtheUser’sManualoftheprojectorpriortoinstallationtoensurethat
all safety instructions are observed and the projector is correctly installed.
■ Besuretoturnofftheprojectoranddisconnectthepowerplugfromthewalloutletbeforestarting
installation work.
Routine Inspections
Like the projector, the wall mount unit should be inspected once a year.
1. Check that the screws in the ceiling mounting hardware and adjusted parts are not loose.
2. Check that the ceiling mounting hardware, adjusted parts and the set are not scarred or damaged.

Make sure the following items are packed inside the box. If something should be missing, contact the sales outlet right
away. (Fasteners for mounting the 6-axis adjusting ceiling mount to the ceiling are not included. Select fasteners that
are strong enough for the weight of the projector and 6-axis adjusting ceiling mount and appropriate to the structure of
the ceiling where they are mounted.

Pay particular attention to the following points when mounting a projector on the ceiling.

construction work. Ensure the pull-out force of bolts (four places) used in mounting the unit to the ceiling is at
least2,500N/bolt.

a long time, so reinforce as needed to withstand external forces and vibrations
that can be anticipated from earthquakes.
Improper installation will cause the projector to fall and may result in injuries.

iscarriedbysufciently robustconstructionmaterials andfasten
themsecurelywithbolts,lockwashers,atwasherandnuts.
●Donotmountdirectlytoaceilingthatisnotsturdyenoughoruseanchorscrewsorwood
screws that will pull out too easily.
●Whenselectingscrewsformountingtheceilingmountbrackettotheceilingmaterial,use
fasteners suitable for the construction materials.

If the ceiling is concrete:
(1) Attach the mounting bracket to a mounting plate.
Make holes in the mounting plate to match the positioning
holes in the mounting bracket.
(2) Make a hole at the spot in the ceiling where the mounting
bracket or the unit will go through.
(3) Pass the mounting bracket or the projector itself through the
hole in the ceiling and attach the mounting plate to the beam.
If the beam is not sturdy enough, consult with the contractor
or the sales outlet and reinforce the beam.
(1) Align the positioning holes in the mounting bracket
and tap the anchor bolts into the holes in the ceiling.
(2) Screw the anchor bolts in to fasten the mounting
bracket.
(3) The strength of the anchor bolt varies with the
device used, so select bolts that are strong enough
fortheweightspeciedintheexplanatorymaterials
for the ceiling mount bracket.

Installation Methods
Attach the ceiling mount (A) to the ceiling.
• Theadjustmentholes(twelveplaces)areelongatedtoallowadjustmentsleft/right(±10mm).
• Handtightenthe4boltstemporarily,andafterdeterminingthepositioning,nishtighteningall4bolts.
• UseM10boltsforthemountingbolts.
(Themountingboltsmaydiffer,dependingonthemountingmethod.NeithertheM10bolts,nornuts,spring
washers or flat washers are included with the product. Consult with the hardware supply to select the
appropriate fasteners.)

(2) Make a hole at the spot in the ceiling where the mounting
bracket or the unit will go through.
(3) Pass the mounting bracket or the projector itself through the
hole in the ceiling and attach the mounting plate to the beam.
If the beam is not sturdy enough, consult with the contractor
or the sales outlet and reinforce the beam.
(1) Align the positioning holes in the mounting bracket
and tap the anchor bolts into the holes in the ceiling.
(2) Screw the anchor bolts in to fasten the mounting
bracket.
(3) The strength of the anchor bolt varies with the
device used, so select bolts that are strong enough
fortheweightspeciedintheexplanatorymaterials
for the ceiling mount bracket.

Attach the ceiling mount (A) to the ceiling.
• Theadjustmentholes(twelveplaces)areelongatedtoallowadjustmentsleft/right(±10mm).
• Handtightenthe4boltstemporarily,andafterdeterminingthepositioning,nishtighteningall4bolts.
• UseM10boltsforthemountingbolts.

(1) Peel off the the separators from the 2 collars B that are included with the FL-920 lens unit, and stick them
aligned with the screw holes on the bottom case, as shown in the diagram.
