guaranteed in writing or due to the intent or gross negligence or part of Barco.
If the purchaser or a third party carries out modifications or repairs on goo
ds delivered by Barco, or if the goods are handled incorrectly,
in particular if the systems are commissioned operated incorrectly or if, after the transfer of risks, the goods are subject to influences not
agreed upon in the contract, all guarantee claims of the purchaser will be rendered invalid. Not included in the guarantee coverage are
system failures which are attributed to programs or special electroni
c circuitry provided by the purchaser, e.g. interfaces. Normal wear as
well as normal maintenance are not subject to the guarantee provided by Barco either.
The environmental conditions as well as the servicing and maintenance regulations specified in the this manual must be complied with by
the customer.

Size
The LD display is delivered in several packages containing separate parts. Each individual part can pass through a standard door
opening to gain easy access to the installation area. It’s obvious that the dimensions of the destination area must cover the physical
dimensions of the LD display. See specification of the chosen LD model for exact dimensions.
Weight
The weight of one separated part, without packaging, of the LD display does not exceed 50 kg. This limitation allows that the set
up of the LD display can be done by two persons. But, do not underestimate the weight of a complete LD display. Be sure that the
surface (floor, wall or ceiling) on which the display has to be installed is capable of handling five (5) times the com
plete load of the
LD display. See specification of the chosen LD model to know the complete weight of the display.
Ambient temperature
Maximum ambient temperature:
Consult the “LD temperature control” table below to determine the maximum ambient temperature for your LD display.

- The value for “Min. contrast” must be set on 100 Nit.
- The value for “Max. temperature” must be set on 60 °C.
(These values can be set in the LD configuration software tab page “Monitoring”
Set up button of “Temperature control”)
Minimum ambient temperature:
The minimum ambient temperature for the LD display is 0 °C.
Humidity
The LD display is designed for indoor use. The humidity level at the operating area must be between 35 and 85%. To forsake this
requirement will result in damage of internal parts of the LD display.
Ventilation
A lot of energy is trans
ferred into heat. The installation should be such that the amount of air flow required for safe operation of the
equipment is not compromised. Proper ventilation must be provided. The location of the air in- and outlet for the fans will be different
depending on the kind of installation (floor, wall or ceiling). The LD display must be installed in such a manner that the air in- and
outlets are comple
tely free.
Power
A mono phase power net must be provided at the installation place for the LD display. The allowed range of the power voltage is
from 190 to 230 volt. Use one power source cable with a section of 10 mm

10
R5976773 LD DISPLAY 27/04/2006
2. Installation requirements
2.2 Installation requirements for the D2 digitizer
Requirements
The D2 digitizer should not be placed in a built-in installation or enclosure unless proper ventilation is provided.
When using the unit in a multi unit rack assembly or closed assembly, the ambient temperature inside the assembly may not
exceed the maximum rated ambient temperature of the digitizer. The installation should be such that the amount of air flow
required for safe operation of the equipment is not compromised.
When building in the D2 digitizer into a rack with cover door, be aware that a space of minimum 85 mm is needed between the
indicated reference and the cover door. This space is needed to guide the input cables to the inputs.
85 mm
The D2 digitizer will require that air flows freely in vent holes. Blocking these holes will greatly reduce the reliability of the unit
and lead to the possibility of overheating.
The D2 Digitizer should operate from an AC power source. The D2 digitizer is equipped with an auto-ranging power supply
from 85 to 264 volt (50–60 Hertz).
When installed in a rack, the mounting should be such that no hazardous condition is achieved due to uneven mechanical
loading.
When the mains switch located on the back of the D2 digitizer is not accessible due to rack mounting, the socket outlet supplying
the rack shall be installed near the equipment and be easily acces
sible or a readily accessible disconnect device shall be
incorporated in the fixed wiring. When using a rack in an installation it is advisable to log the serial number of the device and to
activate the warranty figure by registering utilizing the included form.
Do not place the D2 digitizer on an unstable cart, stand or table. The device may fall, causing personal injury and serious
damage to the digitizer.
The data path between the D2 digitizer and the LD display may not exceed five (5) meter.

3. System overview
3.1 LD display tiles
Functionality
The display of the LD is built up with display tiles. All tiles are connected in series via a data path. The physical location of a tile in the
data path does not matter because within the LD model all tiles are equal. But the data path must be created in a daisy chain matter.
Each tile picks out a part of the video information of the data stream on the data path and process this information for displaying on
its LED’s.
Depending of the chosen LD model the resolution of the display tile can be different, either 8 millimeter or 10 millimeter. The LD tiles
need to be powered up via the mono phase power box which supplies a voltage between 190 and 230 volt.
Image 3-2
LD display tile (8 millimeter: R9052700 ; 10 millimeter: R9052710).
Re-sync unit
Every tile contains a re-sync unit (A) which can easily be removed. The re-sync unit synchronizes the incoming data stream and
sends it to the next tile. The data ports (B) on the re-sync unit are bidirectional. So, it doesn’t matter on which port the data is coming
in, the re-sync unit switch the functionality of the data ports spontaneously between input and output. Furthermore the re-sync unit
is equipped with status LED’s (C) for diagnostic purposes.
A
B

C
Image 3-3
A Re-sync unit (R9851520); B Data ports; C Status LED’s.
Cabling
