SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS
GENERAL
The Hobart AmeriScale is a durable, compact weighing device. Two digital displays show the weight,
unit price, and total price to the seller and buyer at the same time. The scale can calculate the value
of either weighed or by count items and can accumulate the total price for multiple items.
The maximum capacity is 30 pounds. The maximum metric capacity is 15 kg. The maximum capacity
includes any Tare weight subtracted for packaging. The increment or division size is available as
shown in the table.

Kilograms, when scale weight reaches 6 kg. the .005 kg increment is used until the scale returns to zero.
USER GUIDELINES
Do NOT jar the weighing platter or drop objects on it.
Do NOT press keys hard; a light touch is sufficient.
Avoid locations with vibration; avoid direct sunlight.
Do NOT splash water on the scale.
WARNING: UNPLUG BEFORE CLEANING.
Clean the cover and weighing platter by wiping with
a dry or lightly moistened cloth. The stainless steel
platter can be removed (by lifting straight up) and
washed in a sink with mild detergent and warm
water. Do NOT use solvent or abrasive materials for
cleaning. Replace the platter after it is clean and dry.
– 5 –
INSTALLATION
Immediately after unpacking, check for possible shipping damage. If this unit is found to be damaged,
save the packaging material and contact the carrier within 15 days of delivery.
The Security Plate is available and can be used by Weights and Measures after calibration to seal the
scale if they use a lead-wire type seal.
ELECTRICAL CONNECTION
Connect the wall-mount adapter plug to a 120 V, 60 Hz, 1 ph electrical outlet. The adapter converts
to 12 Volts
DC,
.8 Amp, required for the scale to operate. Alternatively, a Vehicle Adapter with 20 foot
cord is available and allows connection to the cigarette lighter on any car or truck having a 12 Volt
DC
electrical system. With either voltage source, connect the small round 12 Volt
DC
connector to the
mating terminal on the left side of the scale.
LEVELING THE SCALE
Level the scale by turning the feet in or out until the bubble indicator is centered. A Locking Nut,
provided on the threaded shaft of each foot, allows the level adjustment to be locked-in.
DISCONNECTION AND POWER-UP
If the scale is disconnected, the accumulator total and any displayed values will be lost. When powerup
occurs, the scale will resume in MISCELLANEOUS PLU MODE. Disconnection and powerup will always
retain the programmed values of the 30 PLUs saved during a previous PLU EDIT MODE.
– 6 –
OPERATION
KEYPAD
Enter numeric values for PLU, By Count, Tare, lb/for, and Price.
Look-up or edit pricing values for any PLU numbered 1 – 30.
For By Count Pricing, set how many pieces (1 99) are being sold for the price.
For By Weight pricing, enter the tare value to be subtracted from the weight.
Enter the price (up to 999.99).
Add the total price to the Accumulated Total. Net Weight must be greater than twice the
increment or division size. [Initial versions of AmeriScale will not accommodate
connection of a peripheral printer. Future upgrades/options may permit an optional
peripheral printer, which, if connected, would print the total price of the item.]
Clear various values depending on when it is pressed.
For Multiple Pounds pricing, set how many pounds (1 9) are being sold for the price.
[ If configured for metric weighing and enabled, the item is priced for 100 grams instead
of 1 kg.]
Prepack/Date locks-in current pricing and allows several items with the same price to be
weighed and priced. Totals can be accumulated. Prepack can only be activated when
a unit price is displayed. Press Clear
CE
to exit Prepack and return pricing values to zero.
Set the scale to zero weight.
Display the Accumulated Total (Packages and Total Price)*. [Initial versions of
AmeriScale will not accommodate connection of a peripheral printer. Future upgrades/
options may permit an optional peripheral printer, which, if connected, would print the
Accumulated Total.]
[ Press Print/Total A SECOND TIME to return to pricing values without clearing the total.]
KEYPAD ENTRIES
Whenever a valid keypad entry is made, a single beep will sound.
Invalid entries will be signaled by a single beep followed by a series of rapid beeps.
* ACCUMULATOR LIMITS
The accumulator, ( ) , can add up to 60,000 packages. The price total can run up to 9999.99 or

Pricing values can be entered in one of three modes: 1) In Miscellaneous PLU Mode where, once
entered, pricing codes are cleared when totaled. 2) As a change to the programmed pricing values
during PLU Edit Mode. 3) As a temporary override to a PLU during PLU Lookup Mode.
NOTE: The following Mode information is written from the Operator Display perspective. Fields and
information on the elevated display (optional) will appear different.
MISCELLANEOUS PLU MODE
Following power-up and rezero, the scale enters
Miscellaneous PLU Mode, indicated by the display —
all pricing values equal 0.00.
Manually enter the pricing values for an item by entering a numeric value followed by its identifier:
Price, Tare, By Count, or lb For — until the required pricing is displayed. Accumulator (Totals), Tare,
and Prepack functions are available to add individual total prices, display or edit the Tare, or repeat item
pricing for multiple items. Platter Tare Function (page 10) can be used if no Tare or By Count has been

METRIC PRICING TYPES
Metric pricing (per kg and 100g) is configurable by your local Hobart service office. Use of the scale
as a metric weigher disables U.S. pounds pricing capability. Pricing per 100g can be disabled so all
weighed items are priced per kilogram. By Count pricing works the same with either pound or metric
weight configuration. In metric weighing, the Tare must be divisible by the metric weight increment.
The maximum allowable Tare is 9.995 kg.
