Description
The Water Block is designed to be installed upstream of any Zip product and associated pipe-
work to minimise the potential for water leakage in the event of a system malfunction.
The Water Block is ideal for limiting potential leakage and resulting water damage from water
heaters, water chillers etc. when fitted in supply pipe work that is subject to mains water pressure.
Once set, the Water Block will ensure that the volume of water that can flow through at one time
is limited to a pre-determined maximum, providing the flow rate through it exceeds 2 litres per
minute.
The Water Block also incorporates a non-return valve.
The Water Block is WRAS approved.
Precautions
The Water Block will help to contain leakage exceeding a rate of 2 l/min.
Note The leakage at lower flow rates may not be detected by the Water Block and could remain
unchecked.
Appropriate measures should be taken to contain leakage in these circumstances.

Note. This device must be installed vertically with the direction of flow
downwards (inlet at the top , outlet at the bottom. See Fig 1 adjacent).
The Water Block should be installed in a convenient location on the water
supply line to the Zip product.
Pointer ‘P’ (see Fig.3) should be rotated until in line with the maximum required flow at
one time. Each number on the scale corresponds to 5 litres of flow i.e. 1 = 5 litres, 10 = 50
litres.
The adjustment key (see Fig.2) should be used to adjust the pointer.
The inlet should be connected via an 15mm isolation valve (not supplied).
The outlet shall be connected via the 15mm - 1/2” brass compression fitting supplied.
Ensure that the direction of flow through the Water Block is correct and that the filter
screen (see Fig.2) is inserted correctly with the convex surface facing towards the water
supply.

1.2 Reset Procedure
The Water Block will activate and shut off the supply if more water than the set amount is drawn off at one time.
In this event firstly isolate and de-pressurise the water supply to the Water Block, identify and repair the cause of
the leak then remove the pipe-work downstream of the Water Block and press the reset button ‘H’ (see Fig.3).
The reset device (see Fig.2) may be fitted to avoid disconnection. This allows the Water Block to be reset by
operating the lever in the direction shown in Fig.2.
In the event of persistent tripping contact Zip for advice on 0345 6 005 005.

HydroChill Twin lever - Chilled ambient
The lever on the right is used for chilled filtered water and the other, on the left, is
used for ambient filtered water.
Chilled water is obtained by pulling the lever on the right forward, The water is
chilled by a refrigeration unit fitted within the chiller unit.
Chilled water can be obtained within the rated capacity, for as long as you pull the
lever forward. Ambient water is obtained in the same manner as the chilled water, by
pulling the lever on the left forward, to the horizontal position.
The levers will self return, and close the tap once finger pressure has been removed.
HydroChill heavy duty - Chilled only
Chilled water is obtained by pulling the lever on the tap forward. The water is chilled
by a refrigeration unit fitted within the under counter chiller.
Using the Heavy Duty HydroChill you can obtain chilled water within the rated
capacity for as long as you pull forward the lever. The lever will self return, and close
the tap once finger pressure has been removed.

7.0 Commissioning
Due to the sanitisation process, residue from the sanitisation liquid might remain in the product, which
requires the products to be flushed with fresh water at installation. So the first few glasses of water may
look soapy with presence of bubbles. As part of the purge process, dispense 10 litres of water from the tap,
then check that the water is clear, and that there are no soapy looking bubbles in the dispensed water.
All HydroChill model must be sanitised during the commission process, please contact Zip on 03456 005 005 to
book your free commissioning service.
Do not commission your HydroChill until ready for use.
Secure all pipes and cables. After the system is correctly installed and connected, turn the incoming mains cold
water supply on then purge the system of air (follow the instruction in the Filter replacement, page 17).
Check all connections for leaks. Repair as necessary, again turn the incoming mains cold water supply on,
re-purge and then turn on the mains electricity supply.
The chiller unit takes up to 20 minutes to chill it’s contents to the rated temperature, depending on the ambient
temperature of the water.
Ensure your HydroChill is sanitised before use.`
If your HydroChill is left idle before use for water taste and quality reasons any non-use of more than 48 hours,
Zip recommend a system flush be performed. On first use after a period of non-use, run the chilled / ambient
water functions for 60 seconds to flush the filter and system. Not flushing the system may affect water the
quality. If taste or water quality issues persist, a filter change and sanitisation may be required.

Changing the filter
For safe operation, the filter cartridge should be replaced at least every 6 months, or earlier
if you notice a persistent reduction in water pressure from the tap or an unpleasant taste or
odour in the water.
For safe operation, thoroughly flush the water through after periods of non-use over 12 hours.
Not changing the filters when required may cause the water to become biologically unsafe.
Use only a Zip filter to match the one used in your system product (see Spare parts page 5). The
filter cartridge can be obtained through plumbing suppliers or direct from Zip. The installation
date should be written on the filter cartridge. No special tools or skills are required to install
the filter cartridge.
Locate the filter in the under-sink cupboard.
Grasp the filter firmly and twist it horizontally a quarter turn clockwise until it stops.
Some water will drip from the filter head during the replacement process so it is a good
idea to have a bucket and towel handy to catch and mop up any spills.
Gently ease the cartridge downwards to detach it from the filter head, then pull it out and
discard responsibly. Take care not to tip it up once free as water may spill out.
Write the date of replacement on the new filter cartridge label.
Remove the protective plastic cap. The insertion method is the opposite to the removal
method. Align the tabs of the replacement cartridge with the filter head and insert it up into
the filter head.
Turn the replacement cartridge a quarter turn anti-clockwise until it stops and locks into
position.
When the filter replacement has been completed purge the system of trapped air by
dispensing water from the tap until it flows without any further spluttering. Run 10 litres of
water through the system to complete the purge.
Air inlet screen
The HydroChill air inlet screen is located
on the side of the Command Centre.
The screen needs to be inspected at
least quarterly, cleaned and replaced if
damaged.
Remove the screen for cleaning by sliding
it forward.
Rinse off any particles with tap water, then
gently dry with a cloth or towel.
Slide the screen back into place.
For best performance the unit should only
be operated with a clean air inlet screen,
correctly fitted in place.
Maintain at least a 50 mm air gap in front
of the screen at all times.
Take care not to allow cloths or other
soft materials to accidentally block the air
inlet.

Cleaning
Cleaning of the tap and dispensing outlets must only be undertaken with a clean
sanitised cloth or disposable sanitise wipe, no chemicals should be sprayed onto the tap
at any time
Never use strong, corrosive or abrasive cleaning materials on the HydroChill tap or
Command Centre. Wipe clean the outer surfaces with a sponge or a soft cloth using
a mild soap and water.
The air inlet filter on the side of the Command Centre needs to be kept free of dust
and lint to permit free flow of air. See Air inlet screen, page 17.
Service & general maintenance
There are no user serviceable parts but there are dangerous voltages present within the Command Centre.
