1 EASY GTM Gas Pressure and Temperature Measuring System
The EASY GTM gas pressure and temperature measuring system is used to control
the grinding process and for mechanical alloying.
NOTICE
If grinding balls with a diameter of 1 mm or smaller are used,
there is a risk of the through holes in the lid geng clogged,
which could falsify the pressure and temperature measure-
ment. If these ball sizes are used nevertheless, the grinding
process must not be carried out unobserved. The intermediate
lid should be checked at regular intervals during the grinding
process. When the MillControl soware is used, the pressure
and temperature are displayed. If the pressure remains con-
stant, the cause of this may be a clogged intermediate lid.

1.2 Technical data
This equipment has been tested and found to comply with
the limits for a Class A digital device, pursuant to Part 15 of
the FCC rules. These limits are designed to provide reasonable
protecon against harmful interference when the equipment
is operated in a commercial environment. This equipment
generates, uses and can radiate radio frequency energy and,
if not installed and used in accordance with the instrucon
manual, may cause harmful interference to radio communica-
ons. Operaon of this equipment in a residenal area is likely
to cause harmful interference in which case the user will be
required to correct the interference at his own expense.

1.3 Inserng / changing the baery
When inserng it for the rst me and during subsequent replacement of the
baery, proceed as follows:

1. If not already done, switch o the radio system using the buon (A). The
LED (B) goes out.
2. Loosen the six hexagon screws with the hexagon screwdriver. The lock ring
(2) with the 6 hexagon screws can now be removed. (See
Chapter 1.7
‘Cleaning the EASY GTM system’ on page 12
)
3. Carefully li the measuring/transmission unit (3) o the bowl (9).
4. Undo the two screws (D) of the baery compartment using a hexagon
oset screwdriver, size 2.5 mm.
5. Li o the baery compartment lid and place it to the side. The baery
compartment can be seen.

NOTICE
Please note that the baery ts exactly in place and may need
to be pushed in using a certain amount of force.
The service life of the baery depends on the frequency of the
wireless protocols (see conguraon) and essenally on the
temperature inside the grinding bowl.
Also pay aenon to the baery's charge level. If the baery's
capacity falls below 10 %, it should be replaced immediately.
6. Remove the old baery and insert the new baery. Baery type: 1.5 V / AA
Lithium
Pay aenon to the polarity when inserng the baery!
7. Ensure that the plug contacts are in the correct posion when closing the
baery compartment!

1.4 Conguraon of transmier ID and data transmission frequency
The measuring/transmission unit (3) is equipped with four conguraon switches
for seng the transmier ID and data transmission frequency.
The switches illustrated are all in the OFF posion (actuator cams set to OFF).
1.4.1 Adjustment opons of the transmier detecon
In the delivery condion all switches are set to OFF. It is recognised that, in this
case, bowl 1 and the transmission frequency of 1 second are the set values. The
bowl with ID 1 must then also be inserted in the indicated posion 1 of the mill.
Similarly the EGTM system with ID 2 must be posioned in posion 2 of the mill.

If other switch sengs are set, the EGTM systems will not be
recognised. Ensure that the sengs shown in the table are
used for your systems and that they are used in the correct
posion in the mill.

1-second transmission is the default value.
For automac transmission, the 1 / ½ / ¼ second transmission frequency is
switched over in the event of fast changes in pressure or temperature.
The data transmission frequency naturally also has an impact on the baery's
service life.
1-second operaon results in the longest me span.
The transmission frequency can also be checked visually: as soon as the transmis-
sion unit is switched on, the switch ashes each me data is transmied.
1.5 Installaon of the transmission unit on the EASY GTM bowl
NOTICE
The threaded holes inside the bowl, the passage holes and the
Allen screws in the locking ring have to be cleaned thoroughly
aer each grinding to allow a safe fastening of the EASY GTM
system.
The EASY GTM system has to be assembled as follows before inserng the EASY
GTM system in the planetary mill:
1. Insert the O-ring 88) into the bowl (9). Make sure the sealing surface is
clean thereby.
2. Insert lter lid (7) and insert seal (6).
3. Mount lter lid with 4 hexagon screws and retaining rings.
4. Put on the transmier with seal.

5. Tighten the hexagon screws crosswise with a torque spanner unl it clicks
(2.6 Nm). To be on the safe side, re-ghten all screws again aer inially
ghtening them. All screws are secured against becoming loose during the
grinding process once they have been ghtened with the torque spanner
as described.
Fritsch GmbH assumes no guarantee for damage caused
by grinding with loose screws!
6. Switch on the transmier with the On/O buon (A) (LED ashes blue).
7. Place the support ring on the bowl.
NOTICE
Check the ng of the transmission unit again aer
inserng the bowl!
NOTICE
You must check that the hexagon screws are sing cor-
rectly during breaks in grinding. If screws have loosened,
they must be re-ghtened.
1.6 Inserng the EASY GTM system
1. Place the EASY GTM system into the grinding bowl holder.
2. The pressure piece has to be removed in order to use the Safe-Lock system
for clamping.

3. Posion the bracket (d) vercally.
4. Hang the longer projecon of the Safe-Lock clamping device into one side
of the mounng of the grinding bowl holder.
5. Hook the short projecon of the Safe-Lock clamping device into the other
side.
6. Ensure that the journal of the threaded spindle (where the pressure piece
was previously axed) is sing in the bore hole provided in the support
ring.
7. Push the Safe-Lock clamping device so that the mounng of the grinding
bowl holder sits centrally in the U-shaped cut-out of the longer projecon.

8. Pre-tension the seng screw (e) manually, and screw it ght using the
provided torque spanner. Place the torque spanner provided on the seng
screw (e) and turn unl it clicks. (2.6 Nm)
Make sure that you do not turn the torque spanner too
fast. This could prevent the correct nal clamping force
from being reached.
9. Then press the clamping lever downwards.
10. Wait a few seconds. Release the Safe-Lock again and turn the seng screw
(e) again using the torque spanner unl it clicks.
11. Press the clamping lever downwards again.
12. Re-ghten the screws of the lter lid with a hex key.
DANGER
Aer several minutes of grinding and in the cooling-down
phases, check that the tensioning device is rmly connected.
If the Safe-Lock system is correctly tensioned, the clamping
lever is automacally pulled downwards by the eccentric
when horizontal.
1.7 Cleaning the EASY GTM system
NOTICE
The threaded holes inside the bowl, the passage holes and the
Allen screws in the locking ring have to be cleaned thoroughly
aer each grinding to allow a safe fastening of the EASY GTM
system.
NOTICE
The measuring/transmission unit should not be immersed in
water. It can be rubbed down with a damp cloth if necessary.
Remove lock ring (2) incl. the screws from the measuring/transmission unit and
remove all soiling.

The screws are equipped with a circlip to prevent them from falling out of the
lock ring (2). Ensure that the circlips are sing correctly. (See illustraon)
Insert lock ring.
1.7.1 Cleaning the sensor and replacing the seal
The sensor (G) must not be subjected to any mechanical stress. It is permied to
cleaning it with a wet cloth. The O-ring (5) can be replaced if necessary.
1.8 Baery arrangement
According to the "DIRECTIVE 2006/66/EC OF THE EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT AND
COUNCIL as of 6th September 2006 on baeries and rechargeable baeries
and on old baeries and old rechargeable baeries and for the annulment of
Direcve 91/157/EEC“ and arcle 1, §18 and arcle 2 of the German Act on the
re-denion of the wast legislaon on the product responsibility for baeries
and rechargeable baeries (BaG) as of 25.06.2009, we are legally obliged as the
manufacturer to inform you as the consumer about the following:
The Easy GTM product we sell contains a lithium baery, type AA, 1.5V, that can
be discharged once.
When the baery is at, it may not be disposed of along with household waste.
Old baeries may contain harmful substances that can pollute the environment
or damage your health. Please deliver the baeries to the regional recycling
point/collecon point. Please only place discharged/at baeries in the con-
tainers intended for this purpose. Cover the terminals of lithium baeries with
adhesive tape rst.

All baeries and rechargeable baeries are reused. Valuable substances, such as
zinc, iron and nickel can thus be recycled. Baery recycling is one of the easiest
environmental protecon measures. The crossed-out dustbin symbol means that
(rechargeable) baeries may not be disposed of along with household waste.
You can, of course, also return discharged baeries - with sucient postage - by
post to:

1 EASY GTM - Gasdruck und Temperatur-Mess-System
Das EASY GTM - Gasdruck und Temperatur-Mess-System dient zur Steuerung des
Mahlprozesses und zum mechanischen Legieren.
HINWEIS
Bei Nutzung von Mahlkugeln mit einem Durchmesser von 1
mm oder kleiner besteht die Gefahr die Durchgangslöcher des
Deckels zu verstopfen und somit die Druck- und Temperatur -
Messung zu verfälschen. Werden diese Kugelgrößen trotzdem
eingesetzt, darf der Mahlvorgang nicht unbeobachtet durch-
geführt werden. Der Zwischendeckel sollte in regelmäßigen
Abständen während des Mahlvorgangs kontrolliert werden. Bei
der Verwendung der MillControl - Soware wird der Druck und
die Temperatur angezeigt. Bleibt der Druck konstant, kann ein
verstoper Zwischendeckel die Ursache sein.

1.2 Technische Daten
Dieses Gerät wurde getestet und entspricht den Grenzwerten
für digitale Geräte gemäß Teil 15 der FCC-Vorschrien. Diese
Grenzwerte dienen dazu, während dem Betrieb in einer kom-
merziellen Umgebung, einen angemessenen Schutz vor schäd-
lichen Störungen zu gewährleisten. Das Gerät erzeugt, ver-
wendet und kann Hochfrequenzenergien ausstrahlen. Wenn
das Gerät nicht in Übereinsmmung mit der Betriebsanlei-
tung installiert und verwendet wird, kann dies zu Störungen
des Funkverkehrs führen. Der Betrieb des Gerätes in Wohnge-
bieten kann zu Störungen führen, welche den Benutzer ver-
pichten, die entstehenden Kosten selbst zu tragen.
