Internet Service Provider Connection
1. INTRODUCTION
Unity MUST be connected to the Local Area Network router directly or via an Ethernet switch
connected to the router. An internet connection is required for the Weather and Internet Radio
functions to operate, to update the system firmware, to view Cameras, locally and remotely using
IP as well as remotely controlling the Unity system from outside the home.
2. HOW TO STEP-BY-STEP
STEP 1: Direct the ISP
(Internet Service
Provider) to install their
broadband internet
bridge device near the
integration module and
the network
connections.
STEP 2: Connect the ISP broadband device to the Local Area Network hardware that supports the
Unity integration module.
STEP 3: If the On-Q DA1004 is used in the installation (as shown),assign the DA1004 “MODE”
switch to the correct setting depending on what type of device, provided by the ISP is connected
to the WAN Port.
Set the switch to “ROUTER” if the ISP provides a broadband modem.
Set the switch to “SWITCHif the ISP provides a broadband router.
3. SPECIAL NOTES
The DA1004 must be powered off when assigning the “MODE” switch position.
If the DA1004 “MODE” switch is set to “SWITCH” all routing functions are disabled. Port
forwarding and other router based functions must be setup through the setup menu of the
ISP broadband device.
