TheseinstructionsallowyoutosetupaViperSC+BaseStationtoverifybasicunit
operationandexperimentwithnetworkdesignsandconfigurations.Toeliminate
unnecessarydisruptionoftrafficontheexistingnetworkwhileyoubecomefamiliar
withtheBaseStation,youshoulduseanetworkIPsubnetaddressthat
doesnot
overlapwithsubnetscurrentlyinuseinyourtestarea.
Antenna&AttenuatorConnection
AnRx/Txantennaisrequiredforbasicoperation.Assembleantennaand
connectorsasshownintheaccompanyingfigure.Antennaandconnectorsare
soldseparately.
Note:Itisimportanttouseattenuationbetweenalldemounitsinthetestnetworkto
reducetheamountofsignalstrengthinthetestenvironment.

AccessingtheViperSC+WebServer
TheViperSC+BaseStationisconfiguredviaaWebbrowserinterfaceandcontainsa
DHCPserverwhichwillautomaticallyassignanIPaddresstoyourPC,howeverinsome
casesitmaybenecessarytochangethenetworksettingsonthePCtoaccepttheIP
addressassignedbythe
ViperDHCPserver.
Step1 EnableanetworkconnectionwiththefollowingLANsettings.IntheInternet
Protocol(TCP/IP)Propertieswindow,selectObtainanIPaddressautomaticallyand
ObtainDNSserveraddressautomatically.ClickOKandclose.
Step2 OpenaWebbrowserandenter192.168.205.254intheAddressbar.
Whenthe
connectionLoginwindowappears,entertheUsername:adminandthePassword:
ADMINISTRATOR(bothadminandADMINISTRATORarecasesensitive)andclickOK.
ViperSC+WebInterfaceandSetupWizard
OnceyouhaveloggedinyouwillseetheHomepageoftheViperWebInterfaceasshown
inthefollowingfigure.Arrangedverticallyontheleftsideisthemainnavigationmenu.
Forquicksetup,selectSetupWizard(beneathHome)fromthemainmenu(alongtheleft
ofthepage).ThefirstpageoftheViperSC+SetupWizardisdisplayed.
TheSetupWizardconsistsoffour(4)steps.Eachstepispresentedasasinglepagewitha
fewsimpleoptions
tofillinorselectfrom.Eachofthefourpagesforeachstepofthe
SetupWizardcontainthebasicconfigurationsettingsthataremostcommonlyrequired
toselectorchangetosetuptheViperSC+BaseStationforspecificfunctionality.Read
theinstructionsforeachpagecarefully.

RadioAConfiguration(andRadioBConfiguration,ifRedundantBaseStation)
Note:ARedundantBaseStationcontainstwointernalViperradios.The
purposeoftheredundancyissothatifanerrorisdetectedintheprimary
radio,theBaseStationControllerautomaticallyswitchestothebackupradio.
For
thisreason,bothinternalViperradiosmustbeconfiguredwiththesame
settings.SelectRadioAandSelectRadioBbuttonsallowyoutomanually
selectwhichradioiscurrentlytheprimary(active)radio.
‐ EthernetIPAddress:EnteranIPAddressfortheinternalViperradio(s).
Thiswillbedifferent,
butonthesamesubnetasthecontrollerboard
(defaultRadioA/RadioBEthernetIPAddress=192.168.205.1).
Username:andPassword:Thesefieldsarefortheusernameandpassword
usedtologontotheInternalViperradio(s)(defaultUsername=Admin;
Password=ADMINISTRATOR)Important:
Thesearebothcasesensitive.

LANConfiguration:EntertheEthernetIPAddress/SubnetMaskfortheBase
Stationcontrollerboard.TheIPaddressforthecontrollerboardmustbeon
thesamesubnetastheradiointhebasestation(bothradiosifredundant).
‐ EthernetIPAddress:EntertheEthernetIPAddressofthecontrollerboard

(default=192.168.205.254).
‐ EthernetSubnetMask:EntertheSubnetMask(default=255.255.255.0).

PingSettings:(Optional)topingremoteIPaddressestoverifyRFlinkisactive.
‐ PrimaryPingIPAddress:EntertheIPAddressoftheprimaryremotethat
pingswillbesentto,todetermineiftheRFlinkisworking(default=blank).
