Getting Started with Movie Works LE
The MovieWorks LE application is used to record and edit video.
Video Settings
Before recording video, you must set the Input Source (TV, VCR,
etc.), the Frames/Second (FPS), the Compressor, and the Quality
settings for the video you would like to capture. This is done from
the Video Settings dialog box.
Window Size
Determines the size of the Record window.
160 x 120, 240 x 180, 320 x 240, 512 x 384 – Standard video sizes
for playback on your Macintosh or over the Internet. It is not rec-
ommended to exceed 320 x 240 unless you have a 300 MHz or bet-
ter Power Mac.
Record Window
The Record menu is only enabled if the Record window has been
opened and if you have an Audio/Video (AV) Macintosh. The
Record window is brought up when New is selected from the Intro
Screen upon launching MovieWorks LE. Choosing "Show Record"
from the Windows menu will also manually open the Record win-
dow. Learning how to get the best results when recording video
on your Macintosh will take some training and practice. You
should have at least 100 megabytes of free space on your hard
drive before attempting to record your own movies. If you plan to
get serious about video editing, the first item you should invest in
is a removable mass storage solution such as a PYRO FireWire
drive kit.
Start
Starts recording. Alternatively, type Command-R. To stop record-
ing, click anywhere. Your digitized movie will appear in
MovieWorks LE's Edit window where you may delete unwanted
segments. Shift-Command-R opens the Save As dialog box allow-
ing you to save the current frame to a file.
