Product Description
3M™ Comply™ Hydrogen Peroxide Indicator Tape 1228 consists of a non-cellulosic plastic backing material with a pressure-sensitive adhesive on one side and chemical
indicator stripes on the other side. The chemical indicator stripes turn from blue to pink after exposure to vaporized hydrogen peroxide.
Indications for Use
Use the 3M™ Comply™ Hydrogen Peroxide Indicator Tape 1228 to secure packs and as an external pack process indicator to differentiate unprocessed items from items
processed in the STERRAD® 100, 100S, NX® (Standard and Advanced cycles) and 100NX® (Standard, Flex, Express and Duo cycles) sterilization processes and AMSCO®
V-PRO™ 1 (Lumen cycle), AMSCO® V-PRO™ 1 Plus (Lumen and Non Lumen cycles), and AMSCO® V-PRO™ maX Low Temperature Sterilization System (Lumen, Non
Lumen, and Flexible cycles) sterilizers. The tape is suitable for use on non-woven disposable wraps and peel pouches. The chemical indicator stripes turn from blue to pink
after exposure to vaporized hydrogen peroxide.
Contraindications
None.
Precautions
1. DO NOT use the 3M™ Comply™ Hydrogen Peroxide Indicator Tape 1228 in sterilization processes which it is not designed to monitor, such as:
Steam sterilization cycles,
Dry heat sterilization cycles,
Ethylene oxide sterilization cycles, or
Other chemical vapor or low temperature sterilization processes.
2. To prevent color change of the indicator ink before use, do not store near sterilants or other chemicals.
Instructions for Use
1. Open the plastic package wrap that contains the roll of tape and install in a tape dispenser.
2. Unwind a section of indicator tape long enough to secure the pack.
3. Apply the tape using finger pressure along the entire length of the tape to secure the pack. Apply tape to the pack so that half the length of tape is on each side of the fold
to be secured.
4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 for additional lengths of tape that are applied to the pack.
5. After sterilization, verify that the indicator stripes have turned pink. If the indicator stripes have not turned pink, the pack should not be used.
6. When the pack is ready for use, open the pack by breaking the tape at the point of the fold flap. Do not remove tape from wraps in the operating room to guard
against linting.
Storage
Best stored at room temperature (15 -25°C [59 - 77°F]) and relative humidity (RH) <50%.
After use, the indicator will not change visually within 12 months when stored at above conditions.
