Internal battery switch

The battery switch in the UPS

cabinet is used to control internal

battery strings and cannot control

external battery strings.

NOTE

1. Before installation, read the user manual carefully to get familiar with product information and

safety precautions.

2. Use insulated tools when installing the equipment.

3. Only engineers certified by Huawei or its agent are allowed to install, commission, and maintain

the UPS. Otherwise, personal injury or equipment damage may occur, and the resulting UPS

faults are beyond the warranty scope of Huawei.

4. This document describes the installation procedure for a single UPS. For details about how to

install a parallel system, contact Huawei technical support.

Installing the UPS

1. Determine the mounting holes based on

the marking-off template, drill holes, and

install expansion sleeves.

3. Remove the rear cover from the cabinet,

open the cabinet front door, and remove

the four rubber plugs from the bottom of

the cabinet.

5. Reinstall the rear cover for the cabinet.

2. Adjust the anchor bolts and ensure that the

anchor bolts touch the floor. Then level the

UPS.

4. Secure the UPS.

Connecting Cables

• Prepare cables away from the cabinets to prevent scraps from falling inside. Cable scraps may

ignite and cause personal injury or device damage.

• After cables have been installed, clean the cabinets in a timely manner. Keep the cabinets and

surrounding environment clean and tidy.

• You need to prepare terminals onsite. The stripped length of the copper wire should be the

same as that of the part of the terminal that covers the conductor.

UPS Cable Connection Reference

1. Remove the cover from the power distribution

subrack.

2. Remove the big cover at the cabinet

bottom and drill holes based on site

conditions, and reinstall the cover.

The cover can be removed only when the maintenance bypass switch is OFF.

The cabling route is for reference only. Connect cables based on site requirements.

4. Connect the signal cable.

1. Remove filler panels to install battery modules

based on actual conditions, and reinstall the

bolts used for securing filler panels.

Installing Battery Modules

1. Before installing battery modules, carefully read the battery safety precautions.

2. Place the battery modules in a correct way to prevent vibrations and shocks.

3. Install the battery modules from the lower layer to the upper layer to prevent falling over due to

top-heaviness.

4. If the battery modules are empty, assemble battery.

2. Remove the protective cover from the

rear of the battery.

NOTE

4. Install battery modules one by one from the bottom layer to the top layer in the preceding way.

3. Push the battery module whose positioning lock is in unlocked state into the cabinet,

and turn the positioning lock to the locked state.

Verifying the Installation

1. Check that there is no foreign matter at the bottom of the cabinet, copper bars, and switches.

2. After verifying the installation, reinstall all

the covers.

3. (Remove the paper protective film from the

sealing putty.) After routing cables and

verifying cable connections, seal the gap

between cables and the cabinet using

sealing putty.

power-on to prevent dust inside the UPS.

Powering On and Starting the UPS

1. Before powering on the UPS, ensure that the UPS has passed all check items in the UPS5000

Commissioning and Acceptance Report and Chapter 5.

2. Measure the voltage and frequency of the UPS upstream input switch. The line voltage range is

138–485 V AC, and the frequency range is 40–70 Hz.

Close the upstream bypass and mains input switches.

(Full configuration model) Close the UPS bypass input switch, output switch, and mains input switch.

After the UPS is powered on, initialization begins. The MDU displays the Huawei logo and an

initialization progress bar.

Starting the Inverter

a) Set parameters on the Settings Wizard screen. During setting, the Bypass mode and No

battery alarms do not need handling if they are triggered.

• Single/Parallel, Output frequency, Battery

capacity, and Number of cells must be

correctly set. Otherwise, the UPS running will

be affected.

• Output voltage level refers to the line voltage.

Initial Startup

b) View the system running status diagram on the MDU to check that the UPS is working in

bypass mode.

c) Start the inverter on the app.

• If you do not need to use the app to start the inverter, choose System Info > Maintenance >

Inv. ON on the MDU.

• The Service Expert app can be downloaded from Google Play and can run on Android.

• The port number is 443 by default and can be modified. If the UPS is managed using the app,

the port number must be set to 443.

NOTE

Download the mobile phone app (Service Expert).

On the app home screen, tap StartUp to

access the Set Startup screen. Set the Site

and Device Type as required, and connect

the device. Enter the UPS IP and Port (443

by default) as well as the user name and

password of the WebUI account, and tap

Enable the mobile phone WLAN, search for

the UPS WiFi signal, and connect to the WiFi

signal. The default value of WiFi SSID is

UPS_WiFi. The initial WiFi password is

Changeme by default.

Insert the WiFi module into the USB port on

the MDU.

After login, tap Power-on password

activation on the screen. In the displayed

dialog box, tap OK to start the UPS.

Enter Bar code and Verification code

obtained from the MDU on the Offline

Activation screen. Tap Generate PWD to

generate a startup password. Note: If the

entered startup password is incorrect, you

need to tap Inv. ON again on the MDU to

obtain a new verification code, and then

generate a password on the app.

On the MDU, choose System Info >

Maintenance > Inv. ON and obtain the Bar

code and Verification code.

Enter the generated password in the

password textbox on the MDU to start the

inverter.

b) In the displayed dialog box, tap Yes to start the inverter.

Powering On Loads

1. After the inverter starts, the UPS works in normal mode. The Bypass mode alarm disappears.

2. Close the battery string circuit breaker. (If there are multiple battery cabinets, close the battery

switch inside the UPS cabinet, and then close the battery switch of external battery strings.) The

No battery alarm disappears.

3. Close the UPS downstream output switch to supply power to the loads.

Shutting Down the UPS

After you shut down the inverter, the UPS transfers to bypass mode if the bypass is normal; the

UPS supplies no power if the bypass is abnormal. Before shutting down the UPS, ensure that all

loads have been shut down.

1. On the main menu of the LCD, choose Common Functions and tap Inv. OFF.

2. In the displayed dialog box, tap Yes to shut down the inverter.

Open the downstream output switch and battery string switch.

Open the UPS input switch.

Open the upstream input switch.

Installing Batteries

1. Remove the upper cover from the battery module.

2. Connect a signal cable to the indicator

plate in the front of the battery module.

3. Install batteries and cables, and bind cables.

Connect the cable between the two batteries in the middle of

the battery string at last so that a battery loop is not formed and

operations can be performed with power off during cable

connection.

4. Install the insulation protective board.

5. Reinstall the upper cover on the battery module and screw it.
