Drive Disable Circuit Installation
All Ford F250-550 Applications
with Automatic Transmission
PART #3550555
This device is designed to prevent operation of the Throttle Commander unless
BOTH the park brake is fully engaged AND the transmission is in the park position.
Do not operate the Throttle Commander system without the Drive Disable Circuit.
Installation
1. For 1995.5 - 2002 model years:
a) Remove the OEM connector from the park brake switch (Figure 1).
b) Connect the black wire from the Throttle Commander to the matching black “Throttle
Commander” wire at the DDC. Tape the connection.
c) Connect the OEM park brake wire to the black “Park Brake” wire with the piggy-back connector
on the DDC.
2. For 2003 -2004 model years:
a) Locate the green with red stripe wire at the park brake switch, (Figure 2).
b) Attach the black wire from the throttle control with the female spade connector to the black
“Park Brake Jumper” wire with a male connector on one end and a piggy-back connector on the
other end. Tape this connection.
c) Cut the piggy-back connector off. Pull back the loom from the park brake wire and splice the
black wire to the green/red park brake wire. Follow the instructions in Appendix A.
3. Install the Drive Disable Circuit (DDC) under the dash using nylon ties. Figure 3 shows the DDC
connections.
4. Connect the assembly onto the park brake switch.
5. Check vehicle model year to select appropriate Park/Neutral wire color and location.
a) Model Year 2002-2004 – Locate the grey connector of a group of 3 above the inner fender liner
on the driver’s side of the vehicle (Figure 4).
b) Model Years 1999-2001Locate the forward most connector on the inner fender liner on the
driver’s side of the vehicle (Figure 5).

c) Model Years 1995.5-1997Locate the square connector on the inner fender liner on the
driver’s side of the vehicle (Figure 6).
6. Feed the blue wire from the DDC through the firewall, and route it to the connector.
7. Solder the blue wire to the selected wire in pin 12 of the connector found in step 5. Refer to Appendix A
for soldering instructions.
Single Speed Operation
1. Solder the red “SPEED 1” wire on the DDC to the red “SPEED 1” or “12 Volts” wire on the throttle (on
T500081, “SPEED 1” is yellow). See Appendix A for soldering instructions. If soldering is not practical,
follow step 2.
2. Clip one of the supplied female T-tap connectors to the “SPEED 1” or “12 Volts” wire of the throttle.
Use pliers to close and latch the connection. Strip ¼” off the red “SPEED 1” DDC wire, and crimp on the
supplied spade quick connector. Plug the quick connect into the T-tap connector and tape the connection.
Multiple Speed Operation
1. Follow Single Speed Operation instructions above.
2. Solder the purple “SPEED 2” wire on the DDC to the purple “SPEED 2” throttle wire. See Appendix A
for soldering instructions. If soldering is not practical, follow step 3.
3. Clip one of the supplied female T-tap connectors to the “SPEED 2” or “12 Volts” wire of the throttle.
Use pliers to close and latch the connection. Strip ¼” off the purple “SPEED 2” DDC wire, and crimp on
the supplied spade quick connector. Plug the quick connect into the T-tap connector and tape the
connection.

Testing the system
1. Use the following procedure to test the operation of the safety circuits:
2. For safety, place the vehicle in a safe operating position, and block the vehicle wheels. Ensure that there
are no other people around the vehicle.
3. Sit in the driver’s seat, with the transmission in “Park” and the park brake fully engaged.
4. Start the vehicle engine and wait for the idle to stabilize. Engine operating temperature should be in
normal operating range.
5. Test the operation of the Throttle Commander. Momentarily activate the throttle by turning it on then off
again quickly, the engine should start to idle up.
6. Firmly apply the vehicle’s foot brake and hold it down.
7. Release the park brake and momentarily activate the throttle as before. The engine should not idle up.
8. Apply the park brake and firmly apply the vehicle’s foot brake and hold it down.
9. Place the gear selector in any position other than “Park” or “Neutral”.
10. Momentarily activate the throttle as before. The engine should not idle up.
11. Place the transmission in “Park” and shut-down the vehicle’s engine.
If the vehicle fails either the park brake test (step 6) or the gear selector test (Step 9), check your
wiring to make sure that all the connections are correct and secure. If you require additional
assistance, please contact your local VMAC dealer.

Appendix A
– General Soldering Instructions
1. Cut the OEM wire, and strip approx. 1/2” from each e
nd and from the
DDC wire.
2.
Slide the heat shrink provided onto one OEM wire and the DDC wire.
Twist the 3 wires together.

3. Heat all 3 wires at the joint with a soldering gun/pen, then apply the
provided solder. Ensure the solder “flows” into the joint to bond the
wires together.
4. Slide the heatshrink over the joint, and shrink onto the joint using a
heat gun. Make sure the shrink is heated till the meltable liner melts
and makes a good seal.
