1. INTRODUCTION
1.1 Product Description.
The Arlington and Jefferson products are suitable for use in wet
locations and with ambient temperatures up to 25 degree C.
These luminaires are designed to distribute specific patterns of
light on the surface below. All optics including glass,
polycarbonate, and acrylic have street side orientation
embossed on the flange of the refractor.
These luminaires are designed for easy maintenance.
The lamp can be accessed by disengaging the latch and raising
the top cover.
Electrical components are mounted on an easily removable
ballast assembly plate.

2.2.5 Place and level the luminaire on the pole. Position with one
rib pointed toward the street. Alternate tightening of the four set
screws will assist in centering the luminaire on the post capital.
Tighten the four set screws to 45-50 inch pounds.
2.2.6 Wire ballast and line leads accordingly. Connect incoming
ground wire to ground wire attached to inside of wiring chamber.
Connect incoming common wire to wire marked COM from the
ballast. If a single voltage ballast is used, check the voltage number
on the only remaining wire to verify the ballast voltage. Connect this
voltage wire. Note: Lead may require to be stripped. If a multivolt
ballast is used, find the correct voltage number marked on one of the
remaining wires and make the connection. Carefully, place
connections in wiring chamber for future access. See
Figure 1.
2.2.7 Replace wireway cover. Tighten screw.
2.2.8 Gently move ballast plate assembly to an upright position and
place the assembly over the two keyway screws and turn
counterclockwise into position. Tighten screws.

OPTICS ORIENTATION NOTES
Some of the fixtures in this series are equipped with optical
components that produce distributions of light that are not symmetric
and are intended to be aimed by orienting the prismatic glass
refractor a specific direction. The “Street Side” marking on the top of
the refractor should be pointed toward the street.
2.2.9 Replace the refractor. Orient the refractor by locating the
markings on the refractor flange. Position the "street side" marking
toward the street and align the "rib" markings with the ribs of the
casting.
2.2.10 Install correct wattage and type lamp.
2.2.11 Close top cover and engage latch.
2.2.12 Energize the luminaire. Check for proper operation.
2.3 Installation of Luminaire with Photocontrol
Receptacle.
The photocontrol receptacle is shipped partially installed with the
luminaire. The receptacle will accept a standard twist-lock
photoelectric control conforming to standards in NEMA Published
No. SH-1959. The receptacle is specified with a catalog number
suffix of -R.

2.3.6 Wire ballast and line leads accordingly. Connect incoming
ground wire to ground wire attached to inside of wiring chamber.
Connect incoming common wire to wire marked "COM" from ballast.
(On 35W high pressure sodium and 200W incandescent units,
connect to white wire.) Connect incoming line lead to the black lead
from the photocontrol receptacle electrical connector. Verify the red
lead from the photocontrol receptacle electrical connector is
connected to the correct voltage lead from the ballast. See Figure 4.
Carefully, place connections in wiring chamber for future access.
See Figure 1.
2.3.7 Replace wire way cover. Tighten screw.
2.3.8 Gently move ballast plate assembly to an upright position and
place the assembly over the two keyway screws and rotate into
position. Tighten screws.
