4.) Operation
4.1 Crushing Hard Drives
Warning: Unit is shipped ready to destroy 1” hard drives. It is
recommended to reset if punching 1.65” hard drives. Refer to the
section Changing Settings and Maintenance for more.
1) Lift handle to insert hard drive.
Note: It is recommended to punch the hard drives on the PC board
side. Do not try to punch center hub of hard drive. The device is
designed to punch the platters inside the drive
2) Pull the handle down until it punctures the hard drive. Do not force the handle once it stops.
Note: Anvil will not penetrate through the entire hard drive. The Model 0100 hard drive crusher pierces and
deforms hard drives to disable the drive.
3) Pull the handle up to remove hard drive. If more deformation is needed, turn hard drive 180° to puncture the
opposite side.
4.2 Crushing SSDs (With Optional SSD Kit)
1) Remove long handle and insert the short handle.
2) Lift handle to insert the metal press plate and UHMW SSD wear
plate. The metal plate should insert so that it does not extend past
the edge of the crusher.
Note: UHMW SSD wear plate may be flipped and rotated until
entire plate is extensilvely worn. Replacement wear plates are
available. Contact SEM customer care.
3) Lift handle and insert PC board. Pull handle down and crush each
memory chip. Repeat to each individual chip on the board.
4.3 Crushing DLT Tapes
1) Lift handle to insert DLT tape.
Note: It is recommended to punch the top side in the center of
tape.
2) Pull or push handle down to penetrate DLT tape.
Warning: DLT tape is not considered destroyed. Only the metal is
removed to make the tape inoperable.
