IX SERIES CAMERA SD CARDS
April 9, 2009
FORMATTING SARIX CAMERA SD CARDS
When using an SD card to save snapshots locally from the Sarix camera, the SD card should be
formatted with a FAT32 file system. FAT32 allows for the use of longer filenames, which is important
since the camera embeds the date into each file and creates long filenames.
If the SD card is not formatted with FAT32, a user may only see one snapshot on the card because the
long filenames are not supported. Since most SD cards are formatted with FAT out of the box, it is
best to always check the SD card format prior to installing into the camera.
To format an SD card in Windows:
1. Right-click on the drive letter created in My Computer and
choose Format.
2. In the File System drop-down, select FAT32.
3. Click the checkbox for Quick Format and click the Start button.
The formatting should only take a few seconds.
4. To confirm which file system is currently on the SD card, right-
click on the drive letter in My Computer and choose Properties.
The file system will be listed above the used space area as
shown below.
