The saddle chair is designed to offer maximum comfort, ergonomics,
strength and practical design to meet the demands of the daily work.

2. Registration
Please register your Rini products to help us improve our service and
support to you. In addition you will receive the latest news from us on

3. Important Before use
To ensure patient safety and the life of the product, it is
important to observe the following instructions before
use. Please read this manual carefully and understand
how to use the product before you start.
Before you unpack the product, check the packaging:
Make sure that the packaging has not been damaged during
transport. Report any damage immediately to the transport
company and your local Rini representative
Remove the packaging:
Lift the parts out of the package.
o 1 pc base
o 1 pc gas spring
o 1 pc seat
o Possible accessories (see chapter 7)
Warning! Be careful when lifting the chair out of the
package. The chair is heavy and may cause injury. Avoid
bumping it. This can cause material damage.
Remove all packing material, such as plastic, tape, etc. from
the chair

Warning! Do not use sharp tools when removing the
packaging material from the chair. This can cause
damage.
Make sure that the delivery includes all ordered parts. Contact
your Rini sales representative if you find any discrepancies
Before using the product, please check the following:
The product has not been damaged in transport
The chair is installed according to this guide
Please contact your local Rini sales representative if you have
any concerns.
4. Installation
When you get the chair delivered, is it not ready to use. It must be
installed according to this instruction or as agreed with your Rini
supplier.
Place the base on the floor and put in the gas spring
The seat has a cone, which shall be placed at the gas spring

Assemble possible accessories according to chapter 7.1
For more detailed mounting instruction, see chapter 5.7.1. or 5.7.2 for
hand or foot controlled chair.
Before use, for maximum safety of persons and equipment:
Read through this manual, or have obtained the required

5.1 Product description
See chapter 9 for technical specification.

5.2 Intended use
The saddle chair is primarily intended for operation and examinations.
The chair is raised and lowered by a gas spring which is controlled by
hand or foot control. Height adjustment is variably to provide a good
custom ergonomic working position for the operator
Chassis is designed in a robust design to ensure high stability and
long durability. The chair is equipped with five wheels / trumpet glider
and a swivel base for movability.
The chairs should not be used by persons weighing
more than 120 kg/265 lbs
5.3 Wheels and brakes
The chair can be equipped with various types of wheels and trumpet
gliders, each with different functions. The chair has five
wheels/trumpet gliders.

5.3.1 Wheel low friction
These wheels have low friction and rolls easily with and without load,
for great mobility.
5.3.2 Wheel high friction
These wheels have high friction and rolls slowly with and without load.
5.3.3 Wheel, brake when loaded
These wheels are easy rolling when not loaded. They lock
automatically when the seat is loaded, for example when one sits
down.
5.3.4 Trumpet glider
This glider replaces the wheels and provides high stability.

5.4 To sit on a saddle chair
To sit on a saddle chair is different from sitting on a regular chair.
Place yourself beside the chair. Lift the leg closest to the chair over
the seat and sit down. Can be likened to sit on a “male bike”
Be careful when lifting the leg over the seat, the chair
can be pushed away
Warning! Attempt to be seated traditionally, which is
from the front, may result in the chair rolling away and
causing personal injury.
5.5 Adjusting the correct seating position
The seats are adjustable in height with hand or foot control. Some
chairs also have tiltable seat.
When an optimal ergonomic position appears shall the chair feel
comfortable and a 135

angle is created between the thighs and upper
body.
The legs should be relaxed and the feet shall rest steady on the floor,
not hanging in the air. Normally is the height of the seat changed
250-400mm upwards compared to a regular office chair.
To achieve optimal seating position:
1. Raise the chair so the feet is hanging in the air
2. Let your leg and pelvis relax and stretch for some minute,
which the gravity takes care of
3. Lower the chair until the heels touches the floor

5.5.1 Hand control
Under the seat is a lever for height adjustment. To lower the seat, sit
on the chair and pull the lever up against the seat. Release when the
desired height is reached. To raise the seat, stand up from the chair,
pull the lever up against the seat and release when the desired height
reached.
5.5.2 Foot control
A chair equipped with foot control has a ring under the base. To lower
the seat, sit on the chair and press down the ring with your foot. Let go
when the desired height is reached. To raise the seat, stand up and
press down the ring with your foot. Let go when the desired height
reached.
5.5.3 Tilt angle
Some chairs are equipped with tilt function. Under the seat there is a
lever for the function. Push the lever up towards the seat, and choose
suitable angle of the seat. Release to lock the adjustment.

5.5.4 MultiAdjuster
If you have bought a MultiAdjuster, the two halves can be adjusted.
Wider in the rear or the front
At the rear there is a lever which unlocks the halves.
Viewed from behind; push the lever to the right to unlock the halves.
Adjust and lock by pushing the lever back to its original position.
Never insert hand or body in the chair's mechanics when
the chair is in motion. It can cause injury to personal and
product.
5.6 To move with a saddle chair
A saddle chair should not be moved with the front forward. Instead,
the chair is suitable to be moved sideways or backwards. Se below:
5.7 Replacing the gas spring
To a saddle chair there are three optional gas springs with different
height span; low, medium and high

To change gas spring, a rubber or plastic hammer is needed.
1. Turn the chair upside down and hold it an inch above the
ground
2. Lift the chair in the gas spring and hit lightly with the hammer
against the metal chassis under the seat
3. Then hit against the gas spring from underneath the base, this
makes the gas spring loosen from the base

4. Place the base on the ground and put the thicker end into the
base

5.7.2 Foot controlled
5. Place the base on the ground and put the narrow end of the
gas spring into the cone in the base
6. The seat has a cone, which shall be placed at the thicker end
of the gas spring

6. Cleaning and maintenance
6.1 Patients’ near surfaces
No part of the equipment is normally in contact with the patient.

6.2 Periodic cleaning
General cleaning of the chair should be made as needed, but at least
once a week. Exposed parts should be cleaned after each use. It is
important to follow the hospitals/clinic's cleaning instructions and
routines.

6.3 Disinfection
Clean the chair with disinfectant/germicidal agents according to the

6.4 Maintenance and service
6.4.1 Service
Annual servicing of the table functions is recommended to maintain
operational and personal security. Services include:
Check and adjustment of moving mechanical parts and
accessories
Check of cushions
Contact your Rini distributor regarding service.
6.4.2 Periodic maintenance

Use non-corrosive, standard instruments spray.
6.4.3 Adjusting the foot control
If the foot control works improperly, it might need adjustment. The
error can appear in two ways:
1. The chair can not be adjusted in height with the foot control.
Action: the adjustment nut is screwed clockwise, se picture

2. The chair collapse under load, even if the foot control is not
being used.
Action: the adjustment nut is screwed counter clockwise, se
picture below
The adjustment nut is located just beneath the base, above the control
ring. Turn the nut a quarter turn at a time with a wrench, size 24 and
test the function. Repeat the adjustment until correct function is
obtained.

6.4.4 Spare parts and repairs
Spare parts
Please contact your Rini distributor for information regarding spare
parts for your product.
Repairs
The product should only be repaired by Rini or by Rini authorized
service centre/engineer. Items under warranty must be sent to a by
Rini authorized service centre.
Warning! Repairs and modifications carried out
alongside Rini authorized service may result in loss of
function and void warranty.
7. Accessories

7.1 Installation
7.1.1 Wheels/trumpet gliders
The wheels/trumpet gliders are being pressed down into the holes in
the base, intended to keep the wheels/trumpet gliders.
7.1.2 Gas spring
See ”Replacing the gas spring”, chapter 5.7.
7.1.3 Foot support
1. Loosen the seat from the gas spring with a rubber/plastic
hammer, see “Replacing the gas spring”, chapter 5.7

2. Mount the foot support on the gas spring
3. Tighten the foot support with the knob, this prevent the support
from being pushed down when loaded
7.1.4 Rilis armrest
The chair is delivered with the arm rest mounted. For possible
upgrading of existing chair, please contact Rini for information
regarding installation.
8. Safety
The saddle chair should only be used as it is intended to as described
in this guide. Improper use and departure from the safety instructions
can cause injury to personal or product. This guide should always be
available in conjunction with the chair.
Necessary knowledge of the chair is required before use. This guide
has to be read before equipment is put into service.
No other accessory than those mentioned in this guide may be used.
Please note warning signs on the product.

9.4 Disposal and recycling
The Rini saddle chairs are mainly made from environmentally
recyclable material. The products consist mainly of steel, stainless
steel, aluminium, PVC and other plastics. Rini recommends that the
material be sorted and recycled as much as possible in connection
with the destruction of the products.

10. Warranty
In agreement with Rini's general requirements and conditions, the
warranty is valid for one year from purchase date.
