My Instant Communicator is a
communication device that
allows you to stay in continuous
contact with your company when
you're on the move.
On site in your company or on
business trips, you profit from
the performance capacity of
your company's communication
system on your mobile. You can
manage your calls in real time:
call log consultation, back and
forth between two calls, call
forwarding, conferencing, access
to your company's phone
directory, etc. You can also
access your voicemail (messages
left while you are away,
requests for callback) and your
instant messages.
My Instant Communicator offers
three operating modes to suit
your business throughout the
day.
Business mode: in your office or
on the move, you can access all
of your company's
communication services. You
have a unique telephone number
and are thus easy to reach.
Private mode: you only receive
your private calls on your mobile
(your mobile number). Your
business calls are managed by
the system in line with your
preferences (forward to
voicemail or to a colleague's
workstation, etc.) You can view
business events (call log,
voicemail, etc.) when you are
back in business mode.
Semi-private mode: you can view
business events (callback
request, voicemail, etc.) and
make business calls. But you only
receive private calls on your
mobile.
My Instant Communicator:
an interactive multimedia device
My Instant Communicator offers you all possible means of reaching
your contacts, in line with each contact's profile.
Media:
The multimedia product My Instant Communicator runs on Apple
iPhone, Blackberry, Nokia Eseries, and Windows Mobile®
platforms. Particular attention has been paid to ensuring that the
user experience is easy and consistent across different platforms.

Mobile Edition

So that you can benefit fully from My Instant Communicator, you are strongly advised to
familiarize yourself properly with all the functionalities of your mobile, such as network
connection management, access to the alphanumeric keypad, ring management, and keypad
beep configuration, etc.
Using a wired or wireless headset (Bluetooth) while communicating over your mobile will
enable you to fully appreciate the enhanced usability of your My Instant Communicator
application.
To control the cost of using My Instant Communicator (voice data communication), you are
strongly advised to choose an unlimited internet option from your operator. It is also
important to check whether your operator charges additional rates (voice and data in
particular) when using your mobile abroad.
The My Instant Communicator interface is designed to be used in "on-the-move" situations:
exiting a plane, quick view between meetings, etc. The application is built on the "one
click, one action" principle. It is therefore easy to use, and all actions, whether viewing
messages or calling someone back, are one click away.
The touch screen on your mobile means it is simple to use My Instant Communicator. If your
mobile has a browser and an "OK" key, you can use it to access the application's main
functions.
My Instant Communicator uses the data channel (WiFi or 3G/3G+) to set up a call with your
company's telephone system. When the call is set up, calls are processed by the company.
There is no additional cost for your mobile. If it is impossible to connect to the data
channel, the application will run in telephone mode, so the calls will transit over the GSM
network. The cost of a call will be the same as for a call to your company. Not all features
will be available.
Use of your operator's 3G/3G+ network: if no WiFi network can be accessed, the My Instant
Communicator application will use your operator's 3G/3G+ network. If 3G cover is not
homogenous, 3G/GSM switchover may affect the behavior of the application.
Please refer to the "MIC Unified Communication Client Device White List" document to find
out about the Windows Mobile® operating system and which mobile phone models to use
with the My Instant Communicator application. Contact your installation technician if
necessary.

This section describes how to install the My
Instant Communicator client on your mobile. The
same file allows you to install the Unified
Communication version (voice and data services)
or the Telephone version (voice services) of the
application. This guide describes how the Unified
Comunication version of the application runs. We
will therefore provide details of how to install
the Unified Communication version of the
application.)
Check that the date and time on your mobile are
correct. Refer to your mobile phone user guide to
reset the date and time.
Check the data network connection, for example
by opening an internet page in your mobile's
browser. Use your mobile's user guide if
necessary.
Copy the .cab installation file to your mobile
from your PC using a USB connection. Copy the
file into a temporary folder, for example.
2 Disconnect the USB cable if your mobile is connected to your PC.
Before installing My Instant Communicator, you
must have:
a mobile with internet subscription (data
channel)
the URL of the Unified Communications server
The security certificate(s) necessary for
connection to the Unified Communications
server
For more information, contact your
representative.
3 Run the .cab file that you have just copied using
your mobile's file manager. Use your mobile's user
guide if necessary.
We recommend you install the application in your
mobile's main memory and not on the memory
card inserted in your telephone.
4 Choose "MIC" (Unified Communication) to install
the application in its entirety, with all the
features.
Several of the application's modules will be
installed. For each module, you are asked to
provide the location for that module's
installation. Confirm the installation of each module

section "Configuring the application".
During the initialisation phase or when using My
Instant Communicator, the user may be asked to
provide authentication by entering a user name
and password.
The user name (login) and password are
requested in the following circumstances:
The user has not yet entered the
authentication data,
The authentication data is no longer valid.
The administrator can configure the system so
that the authentication request is unique for the
ICS (Instant Communicator Server) and the
Reverse Proxy and so that the authentication
parameters are saved in the memory. The user
will therefore only need to enter the
authentication data once when the using the
application for the first time.
For further information, please contact your
system administrator.
You must have a user name and password
provided by your installation technician.
The first time you connect to the data network,

Your incoming and outgoing calls are
processed by your company's telephone
system. You therefore profit from your
company's telephone services on your cell
phone. You can be reached through your
fixed business telephone number. You
want to call someone within your
company? Access your company's phonebook
directly or simply enter the person's
internal number.
You can also use your company's
telephone services, like callback request,
call forward, three-way conference, etc.
Private mode
Your incoming and outgoing calls are no
longer processed by your company's
telephone system and you use your cell
phone normally.
You cannot access your company network
telephone services. You can only be
reached on the cell phone number that you
have given to your close contacts (family,
friends, colleagues, etc.).
Semi-Private mode
Semi-private mode is a variant of private
mode. You are notified of business calls
such as callback requests or the existence
of voicemail. Your outgoing calls are
processed by your company's telephone
system, but you do not receive any business
calls. You only receive private calls on your
cell phone.
Semi-private mode is a specific configuration of
the application in private mode. You can define
exactly how private mode will be managed in the
application's parameters: "full" private mode or
semi-private (see "Configuring the application").
Therefore, when you switch to private mode, you
will either be in private or semi-private mode,
depending on the choice you made when
configuring the application. When you install the
application, it is configured in private mode (and
not semi-private mode).
When you switch from one mode to the other,
the application starts up with the parameters
defined in the chapter on "Configuring the
application" : type of call forwarding, type of
private mode, dual ring etc.

My Instant Communicator uses the data channel
to communicate with your company's telephone
system. Your mobile can access the WiFi, 3G/3G+
or GSM network, depending on its configuration.
In order to reduce communication costs as much
as possible, the application will use the WiFi
network if it is accessible, then the 3G/3G+
network. If neither of these networks is
accessible, the application will use the GSM
network to process calls.

To keep control of costs, you can prevent the My
Instant Communicator application from using the
data channel at any time.
In certain conditions, such as travelling abroad, for
example, use of the data channel can incur a
surcharge that is not covered by your tariff. Contact
your operator for further information. You can
activate or deactivate the data channel at any time.
The My Instant Communicator application will only
use a WiFi connection if you have previously
configured it to do so. Windows Mobile® does not
activate WiFi instantly. Connection to a WiFi
network can sometimes take some time, for example
when changing from a 3G/3G+ network to a WiFi
network.
Deactivating the data channel for My Instant
Communicator does not prevent other applications
from using the mobile's data channel.
