Before installing
If you purchased a pre-configured server, the software will already be installed (please
proceed to Assigning an initial IP address” (p. 3-10)).
If you are configuring a new system using a new hardware server, the My Teamwork
software must be installed. You will have received a DVD and CD (or perhaps you are
downloading directly off a network), along with release notes and other documentation
pertaining to the particular version of software you are installing.

The release is distributed on one DVD and one CD-ROM.
OmniTouch ACS Installation DVD

Note: Starting with Release 7.0, OmniTouch ACS will only be offered on the Red
Hat
®
Enterprise 4.0 (RHE4) platform. OmniTouch ACS systems that contain TDM
Network Interface TP240 Modules cannot be upgraded to OmniTouch ACS 7.0 or
greater because there is no driver support for the TP240 card in RHE4. If you want to
upgrade to OmniTouch ACS 7.0 or greater, replace the TP240 card with a TP260
which is available from Alcatel-Lucent, or switch to the IP trunking interface (for
example, SIP).
Installation notes
New Installation
To use data conferencing, you need to install the VMware license you received from the
Alcatel-Lucent Welcome Center, and you will need to license your own document
convertor from Microsoft using Windows XP Professional and Microsoft Office 2007.
Note: Microsoft components are not required for My Teamwork Office Edition.
Upgrade
When upgrading to the new release, your previous document converter will still be valid.
For additional information, refer to the Alcatel-Lucent OmniTouch Advanced
Communications Server Administration Guide.

Failure to install VMware and/or provide a valid Microsoft license means you cannot use
data conferencing features and functions (that is, document conversions).
Note: When upgrading from Release 6.1, you will need a new VMware license.
Upgrades: stacks
Upgrading a 7.0 stack to 7.1.x
1. Make a backup of your present system.
2. Turn off replication.
3. Upgrade the Primary first.
4. Clear the database on the Secondary.
5. Upgrade the Secondary.
6. Replicate the database from the Primary.
Installation and upgrade
For OmniTouch ACS 7.1.4, Alcatel-Lucent supports both scratch installations and
upgrades from OmniTouch ACS 7.1.3 or from OmniTouch ACS 6.1.0.2982.
Note: When upgrading 6.1 systems to 7.0 or 7.1.x, a new license is required for
OmniTouch ACS and for VMware.
When upgrading to OmniTouch ACS 7.1.x from ACS 6.1, the server must have a
minimum of 2.0 GBytes free space in the root partition, and 3.0 GBytes in the /var
partition.
When upgrading from 6.1.0 to 7.1.x, several devices may be reported as de-configured
and re-configured on the first reboot. Accept all the default responses. These messages
should not appear on further reboots.

1 If upgrading, make a backup of your current system.

2 Insert ACS 7.1.x DVD into the DVD drive, and then reboot the server.

3 At the boot prompt:
For a Scratch Install, type the letters k at the displayed prompt and press Enter.
Important! Be certain you want a new install (Scratch Install). You cannot recover
a system for an upgrade if a new installation is selected.
For an Upgrade Install, type the letter u at the displayed prompt and press Enter.
Note: Typed letters are not case-sensitive.

4 The installation begins.
System runs Anaconda and then the screen turns blue.
System displays Formatting [XXX] file system (example /var ...).
System displays Transferring image.
System displays Package Installation screen.
System starts installing Red Hat Linux Enterprise Edition (in text only mode).
There should be two (2) progress meters displayed on the screen.
1. Top meter is in progress on this package.
2. Bottom meter is total Red Hat Linux Enterprise Edition progress.
After the progress bar reaches 100%, the system displays Performing post install.
System displays Installing bootloader.
System displays a blank blue screen for a long time. During this time period, ACS
software is being installed on the system.

system displays the Complete screen.
Congratulations, the installation is complete.

After reboot is completed, login appears.
