3 Information About the Installation
This section provides important notes for the BTS3900L cabinet with -48 V AC power. Before
a cabinet is installed, you must familiar with the cabinet structure, application scenario, and
space requirements. This document describes how to install the BTS3900L cabinet configured
with the RFUs. For details about how to install the BTS3900L cabinet configured with RFUs
and RRUs, see the BTS3900L (RFU+RRU) Installation Guide.
4 Unpacking the Equipment
This chapter describes how to unpack and check the delivered equipment to ensure that all the
materials are included and intact.
5 Obtaining the ESN
This chapter describes how to obtain the Electronic Serial Number (ESN). The ESN is a unique
identifier of a Network Element (NE). Record the ESN for later commissioning of the base
station before installation.
6 Installation Process
The installation procedure mainly involves installing the cabinet and installing cables. In
addition, installing optional modules according to the requirements onsite may also be included
in the installation procedure.
7 Checking Installed Modules and Cables
This section describes how to check the internal modules and cables that are installed before
delivery.
8 Installing the Cabinet
This chapter describes the procedure for installing the BTS3900L cabinet.
9 Installing a PGND Cable
The PGND cable is used to connect the PGND screws on the cabinet and the ground bar to ensure
proper grounding of the cabinet.
10 (Optional) Installing the Modules
The mandatory modules in the cabinet are already installed. The optional modules can be
installed on site according to different field requirements.
11 Installing the Cables
The cables in the BTS3900L cabinet are already installed. You need to install only the cables
led into the cabinet and cables for optional components.
12 Installation Checklist
Check the installation items, installation environment, and cable-related items after the cabinets
and devices are all installed.
13 Powering On the BTS3900L
This section describes how to power on the BTS3900L cabinet and handle the power supply
failure to the components in the cabinet.

2.3 Skills and Requirements for Onsite Personnel
Onsite personnel must be qualified and trained. Before performing any operation, onsite
personnel must be familiar with correct operation methods and safety precautions.
Before the installation, pay attention to the following items:
l The customer's technical engineers must be trained by Huawei and be familiar with the
proper installation and operation methods.
l The number of onsite personnel depends on the engineering schedule and installation
environment. Generally, only three to five onsite personnel are necessary.

must be satisfied:
l The transmission equipment must be able to work properly at a temperature equal to or higher than
55°C.
l The transmission equipment is fed with external power supply since DCDU-11A does not support
power supply to transmission equipment.

3.2 Application Scenario of the BTS3900L Cabinet (Only
RFUs Configured)
This section describes the configurations of a single-mode, dual-mode, and triple-mode base
station if only RFUs are configured in a BTS3900L cabinet.
Cabinet Configuration Rules
l A maximum of 12 RFUs can be configured in a single site. An additional site is required
is number of RFU exceeds twelve.
l The BTS3900L cabinet support neither side-by-side nor stack installation.
l In the application scenario in single- or dual-mode, only one BBU can be configured and
it is configured in the upper part of the cabinet by default.
l In a triple-mode scenario, two BBUs are configured.
l In a triple-mode scenario, BBU 0 is the root BBU and BBU 1 is the leaf BBU.
