Model OMM-2
Output Master Module
P/N 315-092699-5
INTRODUCTION
The SIEMENS Model OMM-2 Output Master module is the motherboard for all of
the MXLV plug-in boards: the OCC-1, ASC-1/-2, DMC-1, PLC-4, RCM-1, ZAC-30,
and the ZC zone cards. The module has the same dimensions as the MOM-2
MXL motherboard. The OMM-2 mounts vertically in the MME-3L and MLE-6
backbox or horizontally in the MLE-3 backbox and
contains two half-width card
slots
. (Refer to Figure 1.)
Voice system field wiring terminates on the OMM terminal blocks. (See Figure 5.)
Power and network communications are provided by the MMB or the PSR-1,
depending on the application. The network control signals are distributed to the
plug-in cards through the OMM-2. All connecting cables are supplied with the unit.
The MME-3 enclosure has three locations for the OMM-2 (or for OMM-1s, MOM-4s
or MOM-2s). However, when a TSP-40 printer is installed in a system, it decreases
the number of OMMs (or MOMs) to two modules for that enclosure. The MLE-6
enclosure has six locations for optional card cages, such as OMM-1s, OMM-2s,
MOM-4s, or MOM-2s. The MLE-3L enclosure has one location for the OMM-2.
INSTALLATION
(Refer to Figures 2, 3, and 4)
Remove all system power before installation, first the battery and then AC.
(To power up, connect the AC first, then the battery.)
Unpack the OMM-2 and its attached backplate. Inspect it, looking for such things
as connectors not properly installed, missing polarizing keys, dirt, and packing
material on the board.
Check to see if the card guides for the plug-in boards are already installed. If they
are not, install all four of the card guides according to the following directions
before mounting the OMM-2 into the enclosure. Figure 1

To install the card guides:
(Refer to Figure 2)
1. Place the card shoulder on the raised boss at the
end of the card edge connector.
2. Align the hole in the shoulder with the hole in the
boss.
3. Place the mounting screw in the hole in the
shoulder and tighten the screw.
4. Repeat Steps 1 and 2 for the remaining card
guides.
To mount the OMM-2 card cage:
The OMM-2 mounts vertically on the MBR-MP
mounting plate in the MME-3 and MLE-6 enclosure
under the MMB or the PSR as shown in Figure 3.
The OMM-2 mounts vertically in the MSE-3L
enclosure as shown in Figure 4.
The installation kit for the OMM-2 includes the
following:
Three No. 10 nuts
Three washers
One 8-conductor ribbon cable
(P/N 555-190967)
One 14-conductor ribbon cable
(P/N 555-192155)
To mount the OMM-2 in an MME-3 or MLE-6 backbox:
1. Hold the OMM-2 so that the terminal blocks TB4
and 5 are on the left. (See Figure 1.)
2. Place the module on the mounting studs of the
MBR-MP mounting plate in the left-hand
position.
3. Fasten the OMM-2 in position with the hardware
provided as shown in Figure 3.

4. To mount any other OMM-2 modules used in the
system, repeat the above steps. Use the center
position first and then the right-hand position for
the additional modules, as needed.
5. When mounting OMM-2 modules in an MLE-6
enclosure, it may be necessary to reverse the
mounting in the lower row by placing the two
position terminal block TB1 at the bottom instead
of the top (Refer to Figure 6). This will insure that
the 14-conductor cables that are supplied can be
assembled.
To mount the OMM-2 in an MSE-3L backbox:
1. Hold the OMM-2 so that the terminal blocks TB4
and 5 are on the left. (See Figure 1.)
2. Place the module on the mounting studs in the
upper left-hand corner of the enclosure as shown
in Figure 4.
3. Fasten the OMM-2 in position with the three No.
10 nuts provided, placing two on the top of the
module and one on the right bottom. See the
positions marked A shown in Figure 4.
To assign the plug-in cards to the OMM-2:
The cards that can be assigned to plug into the
OMM-2 are the OCC-1, the ASC-1/-2, the DMC-1,
the PLC-4, the RCM-1, the ZAC-30, and the ZC zone
cards. Determine which optional plug-in cards are
used in your CSG-M configuration. Assign the plug-in
cards to the card edge connectors on the OMM-2(s)
as needed.
3
CAUTION
Handle all plug-in cards with extreme care. When
inserting or removing a card, keep the position of
the card at right angles to the OMM-2 board.
Otherwise, the plug-in card can damage or dis-
place other components. Never insert or remove a
plug-in card with power applied to the panel.
WIRING
(Refer to Figures 5 and 6)
All wiring must comply with
national and local codes.
1. A 2-conductor wire cable (P/N 600-192239) is
supplied with the ACM-1 module to use on the
OMM-2 TB1. Use this cable to connect 24 VDC
from P3 on the MMB to TB1 on the OMM-2
module. When using a PSR-1, connect two
individual 14 AWG wires between the OMM-2 TB1
and PSR-1 TB3-1 and TB3-2.
The terminals on OMM-2 TB1 are marked
+24V and RET.
On MMB P3, 1 is positive and 2 is negative.
On PSR-1 TB3, 1 is positive and 2 is negative.
2. Assign plug-in cards to the card edge connectors
as determined above. Once the terminal block
related to each edge connector is wired, place
only the assigned plug-in card in that edge
connector.
3. Refer to the Installation Instructions listed in Table
1 for directions on wiring to the 22 position
OMM-2 terminal blocks and for attaching these
modules to the OMM-2 terminal blocks.
4.
If the system includes more than one OMM-2,
use
the 14-conductor ribbon cable (P/N 555-192155)
to connect P1 of the first OMM-2 to P2 of the
second OMM-2. If there is a third OMM-2,
connect P1 of the second OMM-2 to P2 of the third
OMM-2. No more than three OMM-2s can be
connected together when they are in an MME-3
enclosusre.
It may be necessary to reverse the module
mounting in the lower row of the MLE-6 enclosure
to insure that the 14-conductor cables that are
supplied can be assembled (See Figure 6).
5. Note that there are two 8-conductor cables. The
long 8-conductor cable (P/N 555-192243), comes
with the ACM-1. Use this cable for communications
and power from P4 of OMM-2 to either P6 of the
PSR or to P6 of the MMB, whichever is present.
This cable is polarized. Observe polarity and DO
NOT USE EXCESSIVE FORCE. The black tracer
on the cable indicates the position of pin 1.
6. If there is more than one OMM-2, use the short
8-conductor cable (P/N 555-190967) to connect P3
of the left-hand OMM-2 to P4 of the OMM-2 that is
to its right.
This cable is polarized. Observe polarity and DO
NOT USE EXCESSIVE FORCE. The black tracer
on the cable indicates the location of pin 1. If there
is a third OMM, repeat this step.
For additional information on the MXLV
System, refer to the MXLV Manual, P/N
