RE4100-OV-R40 has pins for Audio Input / Output and Digital Output assigned
on the front panel of the encoder blade. Please refer to the installation guide
for the detail.
Dip Switch for rack ID
It sets a rack ID to distinguish a rack from multiple racks. When all DIP switches are turned off,
the RACK ID is 0, and when all switches are turned on, the RACK ID is 255.
When you use an H.264 blade, make sure to reboot the blade after changing
its rack ID. Otherwise, the change will not be applied.

4. INSTALLATION
Requirements for installation
General placement requirements
- Ambient temperature: 0 ~ 60 (32 ~ 140 )
- Relative humidity: Up to 85% RH
- There must be a minimum of 5 cm free space on the top, bottom, front and rear of RE40K to
ensure adequate ventilation.
- No excessive dust
Placement requirements for installation in a 19 equipment rack
- Never stack other units directly on top when mounting RE40K in an equipment rack; the
mounting brackets are not designed to support more than 1 unit.
- RE40K must be grounded to the same ground as the equipment rack.
- The equipment rack must be braced and bolted to the floor.
Requirements for power connection
- The correct AC power for your country is used.
- RE40K is intended for indoor use only.
- To prevent the risk of electrical shock when in contact with the unit casing, only
earthed/grounded power cords should be used to power RE40K.
- Protection against over-currents, short circuits and earth faults should be provided in the
building installation.
- If a foreign object is accidently dropped into the video encoder rack, always disconnect
power before attempting to remove the object.
- To turn off power to RE40K, both power supplies must be turned off.
Requirements before inserting encoder blades
- Input termination should be disabled by setting the corresponding hardware switch off to
connect a video encoder in parallel with other equipment. Failure to do so may affect the
image quality negatively. Please refer to each blade models installation guide for the detail.
- Front cover plates should be used on all empty slots.
- Please refer to the installation guide of each encoder blade for detailed hardware
information.

Mounting a video encoder blade
Follow these steps to mount a video encoder blade in RE40K.
1. If there is a front cover plate, remove it from the slot where the video encoder will be
mounted. This is done by unfastening the screws at the top and bottom of the cover.
2. Slide the video encoder blade into the rack chassis. Make sure that a reset button is at
the bottom of the blade when it is inserted into RE40K.
3. Pull up the blade handle to securely insert the blade into the slot, and fix it by
fastening the screw clockwise at the top of the blade.
