3. PART NAMES
3.1. Front Panel
1. System Status LEDs
The LEDs, located on the left side of the front panel, indicate certain system status.
- Status: The LEDs turn on in orange when the encoder is powered on. If there is
input on Vin 1 only, the first LED remains turned on solely.
- Data: The LEDs turn on in green when the host system is turned on with a
proper connection.
(The color of LEDs is subject to change according to the firmware version. To
change its setting, refer to the section

2. Video Input BNC connector
These are video input connectors for connection to a camera. 4 video input channels
are supported.
3. Video Output BNC connector
This is a loop out connector for connection to a device such as a VCR or monitor.

4. USB 2.0 port
Insert a USB storage device or Wi-Fi devices. 1 channel is supported for the first
module only. (Ralink RT73 or RT3070 chipset based wireless device is available.)
5. Reset Button
Reboot the device system or reset the device to its factory default setting. Refer to
the section “
5.3. Reset for more specific information.
6. Audio In/Out
The encoder supports one channel mono audio input/output for each of 4 modules.
As the output power for the audio is low, an amplifier speaker is needed.

RS-232C Terminal Block is used for some devices such as POS terminal block. RS-
485 is used for PTZ controls. RS-232/RS-485 is supported for the first module only.
9. LAN connector
Use the RJ45 LAN connector for 10/100 Base-T Ethernet.
10. Power connector
Connect the power adaptor for power supply.
4. CONNECTIONS
4.1.Connectors
Video connection
Connect the camera to the video input connectors on the back panel using 75 ohm
video coaxial cables with a BNC connector. Each of the connected video input channel
can be looped to other equipments (e.g. CRT monitor) through external video output
connector.
Audio connection
Connect to the audio input device such as a microphone.

There are two sensor interface types Voltage Type and Relay Type. The interface
type can be controlled by the software. Before connecting sensors, check driving
voltage and output signal type of the sensor. Since the connection is different
according to sensor type, be careful to connect the sensor.
Input voltage range: 0 VDC minimum to 24 VDC maximum
Input voltage threshold: 1 V

5. CONFIGURATION
5.1. Set up network environment
The default IP address of your IP device is 192.168.XXX.XXX. You can find the
available IP address from the MAC address of your device. There are 4 different MAC
addresses provided for the encoder. Set up the network environment for each of 4
MAC addresses individually. Please make sure the device and your PC are on the same
network segment before running the installation. If the network segment between your
PC and the device is different, change your PC’s settings as below.
IP address : 192.168.xxx.xxx
Subnet mask: 255.255.0.0
5.2. View video on web page
View the live video on a web page using your IP device and its IP address. You can use
the IPAdminTool or enter the IP address on the web page.

5.2.1. View video using IPAdmin Tool
IPAdminTool automatically searches all activated network encoders and IP cameras
and shows the product name, IP address, MAC address and etc. IPAdminTool is
provided with SDK at the following SDK path.
{SDK root}\BIN\TOOLS\AdminTool\
To use the IPAdminTool and view the live video on a web page:
1. Start IPAdminTool. Names and info of currently activated devices appear as a
list.
2. Right-click on the desired device and select Web view.
3. Click pop-up blocked and install the ActiveX setup.exe by clicking the Run or Save
button. You need to install the ActiveX for displaying the images.
4. Follow the instructions of the dialog boxes and complete the installation. Then
the live video is displayed on the main page of the web browser.
5. Wait for a few seconds while the web page loads. Then the live video is
displayed on the main page of the web browser.
6. If the live video is not displayed with the message said,
This software requires
the Microsoft XML Parser V6 or higher. Please download MSXML6 from the
Microsoft website to continue. Error code: Can not create XMLDOMDocument.

If the ActiveX
setup.exe
file fails to be installed successfully, close
all of the Internet Explorer windows and go to Program Files >
AxInstall folder on your computer. Then, run
Uninstall.exe
and try to
perform the steps 1 to 4 above again.
5.2.2. View video using IP address
View the live video on a web page using your IP device and its IP address. To have the
correct IP address ready and use it on a web page:
1. Convert a MAC address to an IP address or check the IP address on the
IPAdminTool. Refer to
Appendix (C): Hexadecimal-Decimal Conversion Table
.
(Four MAC addresses are attached on the side or bottom of the device.)
2. Open a web browser and enter one of the IP addresses of the device.
3. Click Continue to this website on the Security Certificate Alert page.
4. Click pop-up blocked and install the ActiveX control. You need to install the ActiveX
for displaying the images.
5. Wait for a few seconds while the web page loads. The live video is displayed.
5.3. Reset
1. While the device is in use, press and hold the Reset button.
2. Release the Reset button after 3 seconds.
3. Wait for the system to reboot.

5.4. Factory Default
1. Disconnect the power supply from the device.
2. Connect the power to the device with the Reset button pressed and held.
3. Release the Reset button after 5 seconds.
4. Wait for the system to reboot.
The factory default settings can be inferred as follows:
IP address: 192.168.xx.yy
Network mask: 255.255.0.0
Gateway: 192.168.0.1
User ID: root
Password: pass

6. WALL-MOUNTING
To wall-mount the encoder, follow the instruction below:
1. Designate the position where to install the encoder.
2. Put the mounting brackets into a long groove on each side of the encoder.
3. Mount the encoder using the included screws and anchor blocks by referring to
the image below.
