Legrand Low Pass Filter, 5-750MHz, IS-0154

The Legrand Low Pass Filter is designed to block high-frequency channels, allowing only channels 2 through 116 to pass. This filter is useful in situations where there are no available channels to modulate on, or when you need to create space for additional channels.

The filter is an in-line type, with an "F" style port for the cable in and cable out. It has a rugged die cast case that is solder sealed for shielding, and measures 4 1/4" long by 1" wide by 5/8" deep.

To install the filter, simply determine where it should be placed in your system and connect it using quality 75 ohm jumper cables. It is important to note that the filter should be installed before the video engine or amplifier.

1. Introduction
OnQ offers two (2) low pass filters, P/N 364456-02 (5-
560MHz) and 364456-03 (5-750MHz). The 364456-02
allows channels 2 through 79 to pass and blocks
channels 80 and higher (analog cable with 6MHz
channel bandwidths). 364456-03 allows channels 2
through 116 to pass and blocks channel 117 and higher
(analog cable with 6 MHz channel bandwidths). These
filters are used to create space when there are no
available channels to modulate on. Figure 1 shows an example of a low pass filter.
2. Description
OnQ Low Pass Filters are an in-line type filter. The filter has an “F” style port for the cable in and cable out.
The filter has a rugged die cast case, which is solder sealed for shielding. The case measures 4 1/4” long by 1”
wide by 5/8” deep.
3. Installation
A. Determine where the filter is to be used. Refer to Figure 2 for the correct insertion point and connection.
B. Use quality 75 ohm jumper cables to connect the filter into the application. If you are making the jumper
cables, use RG6 cable and appropriate connectors and tools.
Note: Most video problems are associated with cable connections. Proper care must be taken in
preparing and connecting the cables.
Note: The filter should be installed before
the video engine or amplifier.
Note pertaining to blocked channels: As mentioned above, the OnQ low pass filters block channels 80
and higher and 117 and higher respectively at 6MHz channel bandwidths. Digital cable usually occupies
a 2 MHz channel bandwidth, therefore, the 80 and higher filter (5-560MHz) could actually be blocking
channels 240 and higher. It is recommended that you find out what your cable providers
frequency/channel assignments are or insert a filter to see what is lost.
Note: If set top boxes are employed in your installation, there might be a situation to “work around” this
device. OnQ has a channel 2-4 Notch Filter (P/N 364456-01) for this purpose.
Please refer to the OnQ catalog, website (www.onqtech.com) or technical support for more information
pertaining to these filters or for installation or application information/notes.
