To replace the Motor on the ANKOM Daisy
II
Incubator, follow the steps below.
Note: The following items will be sent in a replacement package: New Motor (120v or 220v), fan for the 120v motor.
1.
Prepare the instrument for service.
a. Power off the instrument.
b. Remove the back panel of the Daisy cabinet using a Phillips
screwdriver. Set aside the four screws for later use.
2.
220v Motor: Disconnect the two motor wires from the Terminal
Block Assembly.
*Refer to the labeled image (right) of a Terminal Block Assembly
for the following steps in this procedure.
a. Insert a small flat-blade screwdriver into the correct terminal
blocks to unscrew the screw inside the circular holes and
loosen the wires.
b. Unscrew the white wire from the #1 gray terminal block and
the red wire from the #3 blue terminal block.
Note: Refer to the manual for further wiring instructions.

120v Motor: Disconnect the four motor wires from the Terminal
Block Assembly.
a. Insert a small flat-blade screwdriver into the correct terminal
blocks to unscrew the screw inside the circular holes and
loosen the wires.
b. Unscrew the blue and white wires from the #1 gray terminal
block and the brown & black wires from the #3 blue terminal.
Note: Refer to the manual for further wiring instructions.

Remove the two drive belts.
a. Open the Daisy cabinet door.
b. Remove the top drive belt from the top drive roller and center
drive pulley.
c. Remove the bottom drive belt from the bottom drive roller
and drive pulley.
5.
Remove the drive pulley.
a. Loosen the hex screw on the inside of the drive pulley using a
3/32 hex wrench.
b. Remove the drive pulley from the shaft and set it aside for
later.
6.
Locate and remove the three motor mounting screws.
Use two technicians for this step and the following step.
Technician #1 will be located in the back of the instrument and
Technician #2 will be located in the front of the instrument.
a. Locate the motor mounting screws by pressing through the
insulation with your finger (marked by three X’s in the image
to the right). You will feel a rounded screw head. Use a
Phillips screwdriver to push through the insulation.
b. Technician #1 holds the motor on the back of the instrument to
support and remove it after the screws have been taken out.
c. Technician #2 unscrews the three screws on the front inside of
the cabinet, using a Phillips screwdriver. Set the old motor and
three screws aside.

Install the new 120v or 220v Motor. (The example image shows
a 220v Motor being installed)
a. Technician #1 mounts and holds the new motor in place on the
back of the instrument.
b. Technician #2 uses a Phillips screwdriver to secure the motor
with the three screws on the inside of the cabinet.
8.
Reattach the drive pulley.
a. Place the drive pulley back onto the center shaft inside the
cabinet.
b. Tighten the hex screw on the inside of the drive pulley using a
3/32 hex wrench.
9.
Reconnect the two drive belts.
a. Place a belt around each of the drive rollers.
b. Line the belts up with the bottom groove on the drive rollers
and pull the belts, one at a time, around the drive pulley. One
belt will be placed in the bottom groove and another will be
placed in the top groove of the drive pulley.
10.
220v Motor: Reconnect the two motor wires to the Terminal
Block Assembly.
a. Twist the wire ends to prevent fraying as they are reinserted
into their designated slots on the terminals.
b. Place the wire ends in their correct terminal blocks one at a
time. Using the small flat-blade screwdriver, screw the white
wire into the #1 gray terminal block and the red wire into the
#3 blue terminal block.
c. Gently pull each wire to make sure they are secure in the
terminal.

120v Motor: Reconnect the four motor wires to the Terminal Block
Assembly.
a. Twist the wire ends to prevent fraying as they are reinserted into
their designated slots on the terminals (as shown in the above
image for the 220v Motor).
b. Place the wire ends in their correct terminal blocks one at a time.
Using the small flat-blade screwdriver, screw the blue and white
wires into the #1 gray terminal block and the brown & black
wires into the #3 blue terminal block.
c. Gently pull each wire to make sure they are secure in the terminal.
12.
120v Motor: Fan installation.
Install the fan, which was sent with the new 120v motor, onto the
motor shaft by pushing until it securely snaps into place.
13.
Test the motor.
a. Turn on the instrument and test the motor.
b. If the motor is running properly, proceed to reinstall the back panel of the instrument.
14.
If the motor QC Test fails:
a. Check to ensure that the above steps have been performed
correctly and that all parts are securely installed.
b. Perform a second motor test. If this fails, contact ANKOM

Reinstall the back panel.
Replace the back panel of the Daisy instrument securing it with
the four screws removed in step #1.
With this completed you are now ready to return your Daisy
instrument to use.
