Installation Procedure for ESX, ESXi from vSphere Client
Restoring your current vSLM configuration on the new vSLM 4.x.x.x (Note: Restoring configuration to
vSLM 4.x.x.x is only supported for vSLM versions 3.4 and above)
1. Install vSLM 4.x.x.x following the vSLM Installation Guide based on your platform.
2. Follow the vSLM Perpetual License Activation Guide to convert the trial version to the full version.
3. Remove any SLC 8000 or SLB 882/8824 if they had previously been added.
4. Save the configuration file (vSLM/SLM 3.4 and above) to an external drive of your choice by
selecting To Client under Services Maintenance.
5. Shut down the previous version of vSLM.

6. Power on vSLM 4.x.x.x and Restore Configuration From Client under Services Maintenance.
7. Establish a Secure Channel session to each SLC 8000 and SLB 882/8824 by clicking Secure Channel
for each unit. Rediscover and detect all SLC 8000 and SLB 882/8824 units.
8. vSLM 4.x.x.x is now ready to use. For further instructions please refer to the vSLM User Guide.
