This kit is intended for use with Eclipse 322
™
riding greens
mowers.
1. Park the mower on a flat and level surface, verify the
parking brake is engaged, turn the ignition switch to
the OFF position, and remove the key.
a. Wait for all movement to stop before making any
adjustments or modifications.
b. Allow sufficient time for the unit to cool down.
c. Take this opportunity to thoroughly inspect the
equipment and perform other required maintenance.
2. If this kit is to be added to a reel without a Turf
Groomer™ installed, counterweight kit 4261251 must
be installed before proceding. The counterweight kit is
not included with this kit, and must be ordered
separately.
Preparation ___________________________________________________________________
1. Remove reels from Eclipse 322 mower. Refer to the
mowers Parts & Maintenance manual.
a. Disconnect battery power connector(s).
b. Disconnect reel motor connections. Remove any
cable ties securing wire harness to reel or lift yokes.
c. Remove yoke cap and pin.
d. Lift up on lift arm, and slide reel out and away from
mower.
2. Move reel to work bench.
3. If the Bi-Directional Groomer/Brush or the Turf
Groomer is installed, proceed with Rear Roller Brush
Assembly.
4. If the Bi-Directional Groomer/Brush or the Turf
Groomer is to be installed at this time, install the the Bi-
Directional Groomer/Brush or the Turf Groomer first,
then proceed with Rear Roller Brush Assembly.
5. If the Bi-Directional Groomer/Brush or the Turf
Groomer is not installed, install counterweight kit
4261251, using instructions included in counterweight
kit.
Rear Roller Brush Assembly With Bi-Directional Groomer/Brush _______________________
1. Remove and discard zerk bolt (A) from motor end of
reel.
2. Loosely assembly set screw (Item 1) into eccentric nut
(Item 2).
3. Slide eccentric nut (Item 2) onto shoulder zerk bolt
(Item 3).
4. Assemble shoulder zerk bolt (Item 3) through bearing
housing (Item 4) and reel frame into rear roller.
NOTE: There are two different sizes of zerk bolts included
in kit. Use the 3/8-24 shoulder zerk bolt for standard rear
roller, or 7/16-20 shoulder zerk bolt for heavy duty rear
roller.
5. Loosely secure bearing housing (Item 4) to reel frame
using one 5/16-18 x 1-1/4” screw (Item 5), two flat
washers (Item 6), one lockwasher (Item 7), and one
nut (Item8).
6. Slide rear roller brush (Item 9) into housing.

become familiar with the mower, the controls, and
proper use of the equipment.
Stay alert for potential hazards and follow all safety
precautions. Read all instructions completely and make
sure you understand them before proceeding with the
assembly.

WARNING
Before you attempt to clean, adjust, or repair any of this
equipment, disengage all drives, shut down the engine
and allow the unit to cool. Remove the key from the
ignition switch to prevent accidental starting and
potential bodily injuries.

7. Remove and discard zerk bolt (B) from other end of
reel.
8. Loosely assembly set screw (Item 1) into eccentric nut
(Item 2).
9. Slide eccentric nut (Item 2) onto shoulder zerk bolt
(Item 3).
10.Slide bearing housing (Item 4) onto rear roller brush
(Item 9).
11.Assemble shoulder zerk bolt (Item 3) through bearing
housing (Item 4) and reel frame into rear roller.
12.Loosely secure bearing housing (Item 4) to reel frame
using one 5/16-18 x 2” screw (Item 10), three flat
washers (Item 6), spacer (Item 11), shield bracket
(Item 32), lockwasher (Item 7), and nut (Item 8).
13.Assemble 3/8-16 x 3/4” hex head screw (Item 14),
lockwasher (Item 15), flat washer (Item 16), and spacer
(Item 17) to motor end of brush shaft.
14.Slide spacer (Item 18) and spring (Item 19) onto long
end of brush shaft.
15.Place key (Item 20) onto brush shaft.
16.Loosely assemble two set screws (Item 23) into brush
pulley (Item 22).
17.Place belt (Item 21) over Turf Groomer pulley and
brush pulley (Item 22). Slide brush pulley onto brush
shaft.
18.Use a straight edge to align pulleys and tighten set
screws (Item 23).
19.Assemble 3/8-16 x 3/4” screw (Item 14), lockwasher
(Item 15), and flat washer (Item 24) to end of brush
shaft.
20.Assemble belt shield (Item 27) to shield bracket using
two 1/4-20 x 3/4” hex head screws (Item 28),
lockwashers (Item 29), and flat washers (Item 30).
21.Adjust belt shield and shield bracket as required to
provide even clearance for belt. Tighten hardware for
belt shield and shield bracket.

1. Remove and discard zerk bolt (A) from motor end of
reel.
2. Loosely assembly set screw (Item 1) into eccentric nut
(Item 2).
3. Slide eccentric nut (Item 2) onto shoulder zerk bolt
(Item 3).
4. Assemble shoulder zerk bolt (Item 3) through bearing
housing (Item 4) and reel frame into rear roller.

(Item 2).
9. Slide eccentric nut (Item 2) onto shoulder zerk bolt
(Item 3).
10.Slide bearing housing (Item 4) onto rear roller brush
(Item 9).
11.Assemble shoulder zerk bolt (Item 3) through bearing
housing (Item 4) and reel frame into rear roller.
12.Loosely secure bearing housing (Item 4) to reel frame
using one 5/16-18 x 2” screw (Item 10), three flat
washers (Item 6), spacer (Item 11), shield bracket
(Item 12), lockwasher (Item 7), and nut (Item 8).
13.Remove hardware (C and D) from bottom hole of Turf
Groomer cover. Retain lockwasher (C). Discard screw
and flat washer (D).
14.Assemble #10-24 x 2-1/4” pan head screw (Item 13)
and lockwasher (C) to Turf Groomer cover.
15.Assemble 3/8-16 x 3/4” hex head screw (Item 14),
lockwasher (Item 15)
, flat washer (Item 16), and spacer
(Item 17) to motor end of brush shaft.
16.Slide spacer (Item 18) and spring (Item 19) onto long
end of brush shaft.
17.Place key (Item 20) onto brush shaft.
18.Loosely assemble two set screws (Item 23) into brush
pulley (Item 22).
19.Place belt (Item 21) over Turf Groomer pulley and
brush pulley (Item 22). Slide brush pulley onto brush
shaft.
20.Use a straight edge to align pulleys and tighten set
screws (Item 23).
21.Assemble 3/8-16 x 3/4” screw (Item 14), lockwasher
(Item 15), and flat washer (Item 24) to end of brush
shaft.

25), flat washer (Item 30), front shield bracket (Item
26), lockwasher (Item 29), and nut (Item 31).
24.Assemble belt shield (Item 27) to shield brackets using
two 1/4-20 x 3/4” hex head screws (Item 28),
lockwashers (Item 29), and flat washers (Item 30).
25.Adjust belt shield and shield brackets as required to
provide even clearance for belt. Tighten hardware for
belt shield and shield brackets.

Rear Roller Brush Assembly Without Groomer
1. Remove and discard zerk bolt (A) from motor end of
reel.
2. Loosely assembly set screw (Item 1) into eccentric nut
(Item 2).
3. Slide eccentric nut (Item 2) onto shoulder zerk bolt
(Item 3).
4. Assemble shoulder zerk bolt (Item 3) through bearing
housing (Item 4) and reel frame into rear roller.
NOTE: There are two different sizes of zerk bolts included
in kit. Use the 3/8-24 shoulder zerk bolt for standard rear
roller, or 7/16-20 shoulder zerk bolt for heavy duty rear
roller.
5. Loosely secure bearing housing (Item 4) to reel frame
using one 5/16-18 x 1-1/4” screw (Item 5), two flat
washers (Item 6), one lockwasher (Item 7), and one
nut (Item8).
6. Slide rear roller brush (Item 9) into housing.
7. Remove and discard zerk bolt (B) from other end of
reel.
8. Loosely assembly set screw (Item 1) into eccentric nut
(Item 2).
9. Slide eccentric nut (Item 2) onto shoulder zerk bolt
(Item 3).
10.Slide bearing housing (Item 4) onto rear roller brush
(Item 9).
11.Assemble shoulder zerk bolt (Item 3) through bearing
housing (Item 4) and reel frame into rear roller.
12.Loosely secure bearing housing (Item 4) to reel frame
using one 5/16-18 x 2” screw (Item 10), two flat
washers (Item 6), shield bracket (Item 12), spacer
(Item 11), lockwasher (Item 7), and nut (Item 8).
13.Assemble 3/8-16 x 3/4” hex head screw (Item 14),
lockwasher (Item 15), flat washer (Item 16), and
spacer (Item 17) to motor end of brush shaft.

16.Loosely assemble two set screws (Item 23) into brush
pulley (Item 22).
17.Place belt (Item 21) over Turf Groomer pulley and
brush pulley (Item 22). Slide brush pulley onto brush
shaft.
18.Use a straight edge to align pulleys and tighten set
screws (Item 23).
19.Assemble 3/8-16 x 3/4” screw (Item 14), lockwasher
(Item 15), and flat washer (Item 24) to end of brush
shaft.
20.Remove and discard 1/4” hardware (E).
21.Loosely assemble 1/4-20 x 2” hex head screw (Item
25), flat washer (Item 30), front shield bracket (Item
26), spacer (Item 11), lockwasher (Item 29), and nut
(Item 31).
22.Assemble belt shield (Item 27) to shield brackets using
two 1/4-20 x 3/4” hex head screws (Item 28),
lockwashers (Item 29), and flat washers (Item 30).
23.Adjust belt shield and shield brackets as required to
provide even clearance for belt. Tighten hardware for
belt shield and shield brackets.

Brush Adjustment ______________________________________________________________
Brush should be adjusted so the bristles just touch the
roller an equal amount along the entire length of the roller.
Adjusting the brush too tight against the roller will result is
increased motor amperage and temperature, and will
shorten operating time for battery units.
To adjust brush:
1. Loosen hardware (G) and set screw (H) on both ends of
brush.
2. Turn eccentric nut (F) as required to obtain proper
adjustment. Repeat for opposite end of brush.
3. Tighten set screw (H) and hardware (G).
