Chapter 1 Introduction
Overview
Energy Management Paradigm Shift from Main Load to Branch Load
In the energy low-cost era, total energy management centered on switchgear panels such as main feeder
(from feeder to ABS) for stable power supply played an important role. However, there is an increasing
demand to manage the branch load electrical energy in manufacturing plants, IDC centers, and the
distribution boards of buildings when the energy costs rise sharply and the CO2 emission reduction policy is
implemented in 2015.
Limit of Application of the existing Digital Power Meter to Distribution Panel
To apply the digital power meter which is long used in the existing switchgear panel to distribution panel has
had the limit caused by narrow space, hazardous wiring of voltage and current, and high installation cost. This
fundamentally makes it difficult for energy management supervisor to access to the energy information of
branch loads in distribution panel.
Distribution Panel Digital Power Meter only for Branch Load Management
Distribution panel digital power meter comprises both Accura 2300[digital power meter] which is mounted on
front of distribution panel, and Accura 2350[power measuring module] which is mounted in branch loads
inside the panel. Accura 2300 collects power data from several Accura 2350s on RS-485 communication and
displays measurements of only one Accura 2350 selected on its LCD screen. This provides energy
management supervisor with the power quality information of branch loads which was impossible to identify.

Accuracy
Recently enterprise energy management system is essential for effective energy use and preventive
management to prepare CO2 emission management in plant, data center and building. The key factor to
determine reliability of the energy management is measurement accuracy. Accura 2300/2350 supports ±0.2%
reading error for voltage, ±0.2%[±0.5% 1] reading error for current, and conforms to IEC62053-22 class
0.5S[Class 0.2S 2] for power and energy. This makes it possible to precisely analyze and diagnose energy
management and various problems with power facilities.
1. Split-core three[single]-phase power measuring modules support ±0.5% reading error for current. And these split-core
modules can increase the maximum ± 1% reading error depending on the penetration position of power cable.
2. Split-core single-phase single-hole power measuring module meets current accuracy ± 0.2% reading error and
power/energy accuracy IEC62053-22 Class 0.2S.
Dip[Sag]/Swell[IEC61000-4-30], Power Quality
Accura 2300 provides a variety of power quality information, including dip[sag], swell and harmonic
information[up to 40th], crest factor, K-factor, and unbalance ratio. This enables the energy manager to easily

identify power quality changes in various power distribution systems in the power plant, thus realistic power
quality management is possible. Power quality information conforms to IEC61000-4-30.
Maximum/minimum/average statistical information in aggregation interval
Accura 2300 calculates the average value for every 0.5-second interval from the cycle-unit measurement. The
maximum/minimum/average values are calculated and provided for the intervals of 1-second, 5-second, 1-
minute, 5-minute, 1-hour, and 6-hour from the average value of 0.5-second intervals. Here, a measurement
interval longer than 0.5-second is referred to as an aggregation interval.
Accura 2300 is capable of measuring the maximum, minimum, and average statistical information for each
aggregation interval and time information about the maximum/minimum occurrence time[time-stamp]. This
includes information of measurement parameters that fluctuate instantaneously with respect to the
aggregation interval, thus enabling accurate trend analysis of voltage, current, and power quality.
CE/UL Safety and Reliability
The structure-framework, circuit, and fire of Accura 2300/2350 conforms to standard CE[EN61326-1,
EN61326-2-1, EN61010-1] and UL[UL61010-1].
Safety Guarantee of Installation by Through-hole Structure
Accura 2350-3P[1P] three[single]-phase power measuring module is structured with through-hole current
sensing without any electrical contact, which guarantees safety of electrical accident and simplifies installation.
TM-3P[1P] is three[single]-phase terminal for helping wiring.
