Dock Descriptions
Single Dock
The single dock is intended for a fixed location. A single
dock contains:

A power connector.
"
The ability f or the mobile computer to receive both
charging and operating power.
"
The capability to connect your mobile computer to a
network.
"
The capability to connect a printer, ActiveSync, or
RS-232 device.
"
A compartment for charging a spare mobile computer
battery pack.

CAUTION: The Model 700 Dock with Charger is suitable for use only with
Intermec battery pack part numbers 318-011- 001, 318-011-002,
and 318-011-003. Use of any other battery pack may present risk
of fire or explosion hazard.

Charge Status LED
The Charge Status LED on your single dock lets you know
the status of t he spare battery pack inserted in the holder.
The Charge Status LED is not dependent on having a mo-
bile cmputer inserted in the dock. The conditions of the
charge status are indicated in the following table.

NOTE:
If there is no battery installed in the extra battery compartment the
LED is Off. If a battery is fully charged and installed into the
compartment the LED shows red for about 10--15 seconds and then
turns green.

Condition

Battery Bounce
If you partially install a pack but not enough for the pack to
“click” into place, then remove it and immediately reinstall
this fools the charger into thinking that the battery is bad.
Remove the battery wait until LED stops flashing and then-
reinstall. Condition should go away, if not then it is a bad bat-
tery pack.
Battery Dead
(Bad)
Times out for qualification with initial charge being a trickle
charge until capacity reaches about 5%. LED continues to
flash red this indicates the battery won’t take a charge.
Battery will not
complete a
charge (Pack is
Bad)
After charging five hours and battery has not completed its
charge the LED changes from a solid red to flashing red. This
means the pack is bad.

If you encounter one of the problems described in Table 1-2,
try charging t he pack a second time. If the battery fails
twice then discard the battery. You should also try another
battery, if another battery fails, then the problem could be
with the charger. In that case contact Intermec Customer
Support at 800-755-5506 (US and Canada) or 425-356-1799
elsewhere.
Multidock
The multidock is normally mounted on a countertop or wall.
Features of the multidock include:

Specifications
For building your shelving, keep in mind the dimensions of
the dock. Shelving needs to include room above the dock for
inserting the mobile computer and behind the dock for con-
necting the cables.

Single and multidock units are intended to be installed and
used in environments that remain at about room tempera-
ture (0--50

C) as opposed to high and low extremes.
Places to
avoid
when planning your installation include:

Wall mounting your dock involves a suitable structure to
hold the weight of one or several docking units. Wall mount-
ing kits are available that contain the brackets and hard-
ware necessary for this purpose. This section contains the
instructions for mounting single and multidocks.
