OPERATING PROCEDURE
StartUp
● T urn onthepowerswitchandcheckifthemainunitdisplays
atemperatureonthereadout.
● Oncetheunitisswitchedon,thefanwilloperatetocoolthe
Solderlight gun.This is normal. Select t he corre ct operating
temperatures for the Preheater and the Solderlight gun.
Leavetheequipmenttostabil izeforabout10minutesbefore
starti nganyrework.
Soldering/Desolderingacomponent
● Set the Temperature (Solderlight gun 220
°
C 380°C, Pre
heater180°C)
● AlwaysplacePCBonboardsupport,withthecomponentover
thecentreofthePreheater.
● Alwaysapplyfluxtojointsbeforereflow.
● Before replacing a component, check that there is enough
solderonthe padstosoldernewcomponent.
● Beforereplacingacomponent,checkthatthenewcomponent
doesnothaveanybentleads.
Removing/Replacing acomponent
● Applyfluxtosolderjoints.
● Preheatwaiting3090secondsforthefluxtoturnintoliquid.
● Reflow use the Solderlightgun (there will be two bursts of
smoke(fluxflumes),andonthesecondone,youshouldhave
reachedreflow).
● RemovecomponentwiththeSolderlightraised about30mm
abovethecomponentandusingtweezers,oravacuumpen.

Equipmentmustbeplacedona flatstablesurfaceofatleastone
squaremeterandataheightthatsuitstheuser.
Thelightingshouldnotbesobright.Itshouldnotaffecttheuser
fromviewingtheI.R.spot.
Theelectricitysup plymustbededicatedandfreefrominterference
ofotherdevices.
Setup
The Solderlight Gun and the Preheater should be placed close
togetherandaccessibletotheuser.
ConnecttheSolderlightguntotheba ckofthemainunit.Connect
thePreheatertothebackofthemainunit.PlacetheFootswitch
on the ground where it cannot be accidentally ope rated. Then
pluginthepowercords.
T heSolderlightisdesigned forreworkondoublesidedandmixed
technologyprintedcircuitboards.Thetopheatisderivedfroma
200Wattshortwave I.R.lampfocusedthroughasystem.The
bottomheaterdeliversamaximumo f650Wattsmediumwave
I.R.Innormaluse,approximately25%oftheene rgyisprovided
bythetopheater,and75%oftheenerg yisprovidedbythepre
he ater.
