Water Overflow from Air Gap in RTC/WTC and WTM
Model
Modular Rack Type range (WTM series) and Compact Rack Type range
(WTC series and RTC series) with atmospheric boiler.
Problem
Water overflow from open window on the rear of the machine.
Reason
It may happen because of:
1. dirt inside the air chamber
2. air leakage from any connection between air chamber (fitted inside the air
gap) and level sensor
3. wrong level sensor calibration/adjustment
4. wrong water level setting
Action in
Field
1. dirt inside the air chamber
Check that the air chamber is free from dirt and scale.
Scale may be a problem in case of machines without Energy Saving Device,
i.e. machines whose rinse module is filled with hot water.
2. air leakage from any connection between air chamber and level
sensor
Check that all parts fit to each others and there’s not any air leakage from
connection. We suggest avoiding hose clamps.

3. wrong level sensor calibration / adjustment
Level sensors are fitted on electronic board, either MEC board (available in
every module) or air gap board.
They need to be calibrated – according to service manual instructions – every
time that one of these boards is replaced.
Empty completely the air gap before any board replacement!
In case, increase the “Drain delay airgap” from 32/40 sec to 60 sec before
emptying the air gap, then reset to 32/40 sec (see RINSE MODULE
parameters and CONFIGURATION parameters).
In this way the rinse pump will run for longer time.
The rinse pump may work without water if the “Drain delay airgap” is
either too long or not reset to 32/40 sec after having emptied the airgap.
The “Drain delay airgap” is 40 sec in machines with 4 l/min rinse flow (WTM140 and RTC90-
140-180) and 32 sec in machines with 5 l/min rinse flow (remaining models and WTM140 with
heat pump). See RINSE CONTROL parameter.
The altitude (e.g. installation on a mountain resort) does not influence the
calibration / adjustment since level sensors detect relative pressure.
4. wrong water level setting
Check that parameters set are according to the service manual:
In case, decrease the “Max level airgap” from 90 mm to 80 mm and the “Work
level airgap” from 50 mm to 40 mm (see RINSE MODULE parameters).
The rinse pump will switch off/on much more than foreseen (therefore its
working life decreases) if the “Work level airgap” has not been
decreased too.
