INSTALLATION GUIDE
General
Unpack the unit from its transportation packing and visually check for any signs of
damage. Site the unit in a convenient location as close to the point of dispense as
possible making sure that a Mains Electricity Supply is within 2 metres and allow
easy access at all times the area should also allow free circulation of air around the
unit. The unit should be fitted with a correctly fused and wired 13 amp plug fitted
with a 10 amp fuse or alternatively a standard Euro Plug to IEC83: 1975.
Installation
1. Ensure the cooler is installed in a well-ventilated location with no obstructions
to the condenser, or front, and side ventilation slots. The unit must not be
installed in an area where it will be exposed to temperatures, which are likely
to cause freezing, (i.e. below 0°C) or are in excess of 32°C.
2. Ensure the unit is installed on a level surface and is filled to the overflow, with
a mixture of water/glycol at 50% concentration and at a temperature below
24°C. The water/glycol levels must be checked and topped up once the lines
have been primed.
3. Dose the water bath with Aquacid CS cooler water control agent in accordance
with instructions supplied on the bottle, taking note of health & safety
instructions.
4. Ensure all tubing connections to the re-circulation pump are well insulated
with Armaflex type insulation to prevent condensation.
5. Ensure that the python run is not excessive, and is routed away from external
heat sources. Maximum lift is 2 meters.
Unit Description
The unit contains two separate baths that should be filled with a water/glycol
mixture as described in “Recommended Guidelines For Use Of This Equipment”.
Cooling for the primary bath comes from the refrigeration system. This bath will
therefore always be the colder bath.
Cooling for the secondary bath comes from the sub-zero glycol of the primary bath
that is recirculated through a cooling coil in the secondary bath.
The primary bath will therefore always be colder than the secondary bath.
PLEASE READ THE WARNING ON SECONDARY BATH TEMPERATURE.
Recommended Guide-Lines For Use Of This Equipment
If the fridge unit is operated whilst the installation is being completed, fit a short
loop to the recirculation pump lines and have the pumps running.
NOTE: The unit should be installed and serviced by a suitably trained person.

NOTE: It is recommended that the unit be filled with a mixture of 50%
mono-propylene glycol and 50% water.
WARNING: THE SECONDARY BATH IS USED FOR DIRECT COOLING, IT IS
RECOMMENDED THAT THE MINIMUM SET CUT OUT TEMPERATURE IS 2

ADJUSTMENT BELOW -2 deg.c SHOULD ONLY BE CARRIED OUT IN
CONJUNCTION WITH AN ASSESSMENT OF THE “CASUAL” DRINK
TEMPERATURE TO ENSURE THAT PRODUCT FREEZING DOES NOT OCCUR.
FOR FREEZING OF FOUNTS, THE MAIN BATH TEMPERATURE SOULD BE
BETWEEN 5 AND 9 deg.c, DEPENDING UPON INSTALLATION
CONDITIONS.
NOTE: Sealed plugs may be fitted to new units.
Ways the Equipment should not be used.
This unit is intended for use as a glycol cooling unit to cool a fount in order to
produce ice on its outer surface and to provide additional cooling for Beer, Lager
or Cider product to the correct serving temperature. It is designed to be installed
in the system within 2 meters of the dispense head.
There are NO other recommended uses for this Equipment.
Correct Safe Handling.
The weight of this unit is such that a single operator when lifting the unit should
take care. Operators should be trained and use correct lifting techniques at all
times. Should the unit need to be transported over a distance then manual aids
should be used. If the distance is long and there are specific difficulties and risks
that prevent the use of manual aids then two people should be considered for this
operation

ELECTRONIC CONTROL SETTING
PROCEDURE
This unit has been supplied with an electronic control thermostat. The electronic
control thermostat will be of the ELREHA type.

The unit is supplied with the baths cut out temperature preset at 6 deg.c primary
and 2 deg.c secondary the hysteresis (differential between cut out and cut in) for
both is 1 deg.c
To change temperature setting, adjustment of the electronic thermostat is as
follows:
With the unit switched on, press button “P” the screen will show P01, using the up
arrow key press in single operations until P23 shows on the screen.
Press button “P” to display the preset code (00) scroll up, using the arrow key,
until 21 shows on the display of the control.
To adjust the temperature setting of the primary (left hand) bath press button “P”
to enter programming mode. Scroll back, using the arrow key, to PO3. Press
button “P” (pre-set temperature will be shown), using the up or down arrows,
adjust the display figure to the required temperature.
To adjust the temperature setting of the secondary (right hand) bath press button
“P” to enter programming mode. Scroll back, using the arrow key, to PO4. Press
button “P” (pre-set temperature will be shown), using the up or down arrows,
adjust the display figure to the required temperature.
To adjust the hysteresis setting of the primary (left hand) bath press button “P” to
enter programming mode. Scroll back, using the arrow key, to P05. Press button

To adjust the hysteresis setting of the secondary (right hand) bath press button

In addition to maintaining the bath temperatures, the control can also maintain
the amount of ice built on the fount at an acceptable level.
To achieve this a real time clock has been built into the control allowing a “defrost”
period to be set.
The “defrost” period does not prevent the compressor from starting, instead it
introduces a second setpoint temperature for the primary bath which is then
maintained during the “defrost” period.
The primary bath temperature is allowed to rise to a level which can no longer
support ice on the fount whilst maintaining a level of cooling for the product bath.
The clock will need to be set when the unit is installed, thereafter a 10 day back up
battery will provide a memory period to cover any site power losses.
Real time clock and “defrost” start time setting
Press the “P” button and scroll down to parameter number 23. Press the “P” button
using the up arrow scroll round to 21. press the “P” button.
Using the arrow buttons scroll to parameter number P18.
Press the “P” button, “H” (hours) followed by a number will be shown.
Use the up or down arrow to set the hour (24 hour clock)
Press the P” button, “n” (minutes) followed by a number will be shown.
Use the up or down arrow to set the minutes.

The Wires in this Mains Lead are Coloured in accordance with the following Code:

As the Colours of the Wires in the Mains Lead of this Appliance may not correspond
with the Coloured Markings identifying the Terminals in the Plug to be fitted
proceed as follows:
a) The Wire which is coloured Green and Yellow MUST be connected to the
terminal in the Plug that is marked with the letter ‚E™ or by the earth symbol,
coloured Green or Green and Yellow.
b) The Wire which is coloured Blue MUST be connected to the Terminal in the Plug
that is marked with the letter ‚N™ or coloured Black.
c) The Wire which is coloured Brown MUST be connected to the Terminal in the

DISMANTLING / DECOMMISSIONING
PROCEDURE
Isolate the unit from Mains Water Supply.
Isolate unit from coolant lines.
Siphon or pump out water from bath.
WARNING: FAILURE TO REMOVE ALL WATER COULD RESULT IN
SUBSTANTIAL AMOUNTS OF WATER BEING RELEASED FROM
THE UNIT WHICH MAY BE DETRIMENTAL TO THE UNIT
AND/OR ITS SURROUNDINGS AND INCREASE THE MAXIMUM
WEIGHT OF THE UNIT.
ADJUSTMENT / MAINTENANCE
REQUIREMENTS
It is not recommended that the End User makes any adjustments or carries out
any Maintenance other than:
Check the mains lead and plug Visually for condition
Check the unit and its pipe work for evidence of leaks visually
Check that the condenser grill and vents are not choked or obscured
NOTE: THERE ARE NO USER SERVICEABLE PARTS
METHODS OF CLEANING
Persons performing Cleansing /Sanitizing operations MUST be
competent and fully trained in safe methods of use of Cleansing /
Sanitizing Agents and their applications.
PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT SHOULD ALWAYS BE USED

DO NOT USE A WATER OR STEAM HOSE TO CLEAN THE UNIT
WHILST STILL INSTALLED
IT IS IMPORTANT THAT ALL THE VENTS AND GRILLS ARE KEPT
CLEAR (including Condenser grills where applicable)
WEEKLY: BY END USER
1. Isolate unit from Mains Electricity Supply.
2. Clean external surface of condenser with a vacuum cleaner or soft brush.
Wipe unit over to remove any substances from the external panels.
3. Reconnect mains power supply and turn on the mains powers supply.
LINE CLEAN PROCEDURE FOR BOTH COOLER WITH PRODUCT COILS
AND COOLER BEING USED AS LOOP CHILLERS.
WARNING: DUE TO THE SUB-ZERO TEMPERATURE OF THE GLYCOL/WATER
MIXTURE WITHIN THE WATER BATH IF THE FOLLOWING LINE CLEAN
PROCEDURE IS NOT FOLLOWED THE LINE CLEAN WATER / SOLUTION
WILL FREEZE IN THE BEER LINES AND PYTHON.
1. 1 to 2 hours before line clean is due to start switch the line clean switch
located on the front of the cooler to the ON position.
2. After 1 to 2 hours line clean may commence.
3. After the full line clean procedure has been completed and beer has been
pulled through from the storage area to the dispense tap the line clean
switch should be switched to OFF position.
4. The unit should be allowed to pull down to its normal operating
temperature before normal operation is resumed.
NOTE: THE MIDDLE POSITION ON THE LINE CLEAN SWITCH SHOULD NOT BE
USED, AS THIS WILL PREVENT THE COMPRESSOR FROM RUNNING.
ANNUALLY: BY A COMPETENT SERVICE / MAINTENANCE ENGINEER
1. Isolate unit from Mains Electricity Supply.
2. Remove any extraneous debris from the unit or its casing preferably using
a Vacuum cleaner or brush.
3. Check unit for electrical safety.
POWER ISOLATION METHOD
The unit is fitted with a single phase 3 pin 13 amp plug fitted with a 10 amp fuse
or alternatively a standard Euro Plug to IEC83: 1975.
1. Switch off the socket that the plug is plugged into.
2. Remove the plug from the socket.

WARNING: IF THE MAINS LEAD FITTED TO THIS EQUIPMENT IS DAMAGED
IN ANY WAY IT SHOULD BE REPLACED. A FULLY TRAINED ENGINEER
MUST ONLY UNDERTAKE THIS CHANGE
Prevention of Freezing / Action required if Freezing occurs.
It is recommended that the unit is sited in such a way as not to expose it to
temperatures likely to cause freezing i.e. belowC. If the Unit is to be sited in an
unheated area then it would be wise to insulate all pipe work and provide some
form of Emergency Heating which should be controlled by a Frost Stat, and sited in
the close proximity to the Unit.
In the event of Freezing Up occurring, the following action is recommended:-
Isolate the unit from Mains Electricity Supply.
Isolate Product Supply from unit.
Apply gentle warmth to the general area of the unit and its Pipe work.
Check for obvious leaks.
Turn water supply on whilst continually watching for leaks
Reconnect product supply
Reconnect Mains Electricity supply
Observe unit running for a short period watching out for Leaks, Strange noises or
any other form of malfunction, if no problems are observed then normal operation
of the unit may be resumed.
