USE OF APPLIANCE
Before the First Use of the Oven
Remove all packaging, both inside and
outside the oven, before using the
oven.
Before first use, the oven should be heated
without food. During this time, an unpleasant
odour may be emitted. This is quite normal.
1. Remove the oven accessories.
2. Remove any adhesive labels or protective
films, if there are any.
3. Heat the oven the corresponding knob on
position “290” for about 45 min.
This procedure should be repeated with the grill
function for approximately 5-10 minutes.
Clean the accessories with a soft detergent.
Rinse and dry carefully.
Rating Plate
The model number of your cooker can be found
on the rating plate on the lower front frame of
the cooker upon opening the door.
The cooker must be protected by a suitably
rated fuse or circuit breaker. The rating of the
cooker is given on the rating plate.
About condensation and steam
When food is heated it produces steam in the
same way as a boiling kettle. The oven vents
allow some of this steam to escape. However,
always stand back from the oven when
opening the oven door to allow any build up of
steam or heat to release.
If the steam comes into contact with a cool
surface on the outside of the oven, e.g. a trim, it
will condense and produce water droplets. This
is quite normal and is not a fault with the oven.
To prevent discoloration, regularly wipe away
condensation and also soilage from surfaces.
Cookware
Use any ovenproof cookware, which will
withstand temperatures of 290°C.
Oven dishes, etc. should not be placed
directly on the oven base.
Child safety
The door catch
The door catch makes it harder for children to
open the oven door.
To open the door, lift the lever at the same time
as pulling the door towards you.
During cooking in the oven the oven
door is hot. Take care that children do
not play near it.
When using the oven the lid has to be
opened to avoid over-heating.
9
ELECTRIC OVEN
The oven
The oven has removable side racks for the
shelves with four rungs on each side and the fan
with ring element on the back wall of the oven.
The functions of the oven
For all oven functions, the indicator light comes on
when the oven is heating and goes out when the
set temperature is reached (goes on and off as the
thermostat switches in and out). To choose an
oven function, turn the function control clockwise to
the symbol for the desired function (see below).
Oven Function Control Knob
0 - Oven switched off
Oven light
Conventional cooking – used the top and
bottom element; this function will enable you to
use your favourite recipes without having to
adapt the temperatures. It is necessary to pre-
heat the oven in this instance.
Bottom oven element - enables you to
finish off dishes on the bottom onl y.
Fan cooking – Thermaflow cooking; this
system will allow you to roast and bake at the
same time with very little flavour transference,
and on any shelf.
Grill - Using the grilling and top element
simultaneously
.
Turbo grill - Using the grill and top element
simultaneously and the fan out of time.
Pizza function - Using fan-assisted oven
(fan plus an element around the fan) and bottom
heating element.
Defrost – (NB: This is NOT a cooking
position). This position is intended to assist in
thawing of frozen foods.
Caution
Do not place pans, dripping pans, biscuits pans
or aluminium foil directly on the base of the oven.
This could cause a heat build-up which could
affect the performance of the oven and damage
the oven enamel.
10
Thermostat Control Knob
By turning the oven control knob clockwise, you
select the cooking temperature.
Temperature selection starts at 50°C and will
reach approximately 290°C at the centre of the
oven.
The thermostat controlling the temperature is
totally variable so it is possible to select
temperatures between those marked.
The maxim setting is particularly suitable for
grilling.
Things to note
Once the oven temperature has been
selected, the oven thermostat pilot light will
come on and remain on until the oven has
reached the correct setting; after that, it will go
on and off with the thermostat, showing how
the temperature is being maintained.
The oven light will come on when the oven
function control knob is set and lights during
the oven functioning.
THE PRINCIPLE FOR FAN-ASSISTED OVEN
Top and bottom elements and a ring element
around the fan heat the air which then spreads
through the air ducts in the back wall of the oven.
The hot air circulates in the oven before being
drawn back in through the fan grill.
The heat is transferred quickly and effectively,
and often means you can use a lower
temperature than with top/bottom heat. The
temperature can be lowered by 15-20% if the
recipe specifies a temperature between 160ºC
and 225ºC. The higher the temperature, the more
it can be lowered. It is better to use top/bottom
heat for temperatures over 225ºC.
USING THE CONVENTIONAL OVEN
When using this setting, heat comes from both
the top and bottom elements. This allows you to
cook on a single level and is particularly suitable
for dishes which require extra base browning
such as quiches and flans. Gratins, lasagnes and
hotpots which require extra top browning also
cook well in the conventional oven.
This form of cooking gives you the opportunity to
cook without the fan in operation.
How to use the conventional oven
Turn the oven function control knob to the
required cooking function
Turn the thermostat control knob to the
required temperature.
11
Bottom oven element only
This function is particularly useful when blind-
baking pastry or cooking pizza. It may also be
used to finish off quiches or flans to ensure the
base pastry is cooked through.
USING THE FAN OVEN
The Fan Oven
The air inside the oven is heated by the element
around the fan situated behind the back panel.
The fan circulates hot air to maintain an even
temperature inside the oven.
The advantages of cooking with this function
are:
Faster Preheating
Because the fan oven quickly reaches
temperature, it is not usually necessary to
preheat the oven although you may find that you
need to allow an extra 5-7 minutes on cooking
times. For recipes, which require higher
temperatures, best results are achieved if the
oven is preheated first, e.g. bread, pastries,
scones, souffles, etc.
Lower Temperatures
Fan oven cooking generally requires lower
temperatures than conventional cooking.
Remember to reduce temperatures by about
20- 25°C for your own recipes, which use
conventional cooking.
Even Heating for Baking
The fan oven has uniform heating on all runner
positions. This means that batches of the same
food can be cooked in the oven at the same
time. However, the top shelf may brown slightly
quicker that the lower one.
This is quite usual. There is no mixing of
flavours
between dishes .
How to Use the Fan Oven
1. Turn the oven function control knob to
2. Turn the thermostat control knob to the
required temperature.
Grilling
When grilling, the accessible parts of
the appliance are hot and the appliance
should not be left unattended. Take care that
children do not play near it.
The grill pan will become hot during
use, always use oven gloves when removing
or replacing a hot grill pan.
All grilling must be carried out with the
oven door closed.
To switch on the grill, turn the oven
function control knob to GRILL, and then turn
the thermostat knob to the maximum
temperature.
Most foods should be placed on the grid in the
grill pan to allow maximum circulation of air to lift
the food out of the fats and juices. Food such as
fish, liver and kidneys may be placed directly on
the grill pan, if preferred.
Adjust the grid and grill pan runner position to
allow for different thicknesses of food.
Food should be thoroughly dried before grilling
to minimise splashing. Brush lean meats and
fish lightly with a little oil or melted butter to keep
them moist during cooking.
Accompaniments such as tomatoes and
mushrooms may be placed underneath the grid
when grilling meats.
When toasting bread, we suggest that the top
runner position is used with‘the ’rid in its 'high'
position.
Preheat the grill on a full setting for a few
minutes before sealing steaks or toasting. Adjust
the heat setting and the shelf as necessary,
during cooking.
The food should be turned over during cooking,
as required.
NOTE: For safety in use, the thermostat
controls the grill element. During cooking,
the grill cycles on and off to prevent
overheating.
Cooking time depends on the thickness of the
meat and not on its weight.
12
Practical use
Never place aluminium foil, baking trays
or oven dishes directly on the bottom of
the oven. Blocking heat from the bottom of
the oven can damage the enamel through
overheating. The oven gets hot when in
use: CHILDREN NEARBY MUST BE
SUPERVISED .
The baking tray may warp temporarily due to
temperature fluctuations, or if the food, (pizza,
etc.) is unevenly distributed on its surface. The
tray resumes its shape when cool.
How does one know which oven functions to use
in different situations? See below for practical
advice on how to efficiently use the oven
functions for various ways of cooking:
Baking
Use a skewer to check whether sponge cakes
are ready when there are about 5 minutes left.
You can then shorten or lengthen the baking
time. The material, colour, shape and size of the
baking tins as well as the recipe can affect
results. TOP/BOTTOM HEAT gives an even
colour.
Fan-assisted baking
The FAN-ASSISTED OVEN reduces the total
baking time as two trays can be in the oven at
the same time. However, the bread or buns may
not brown evenly particularly if the dough had not
risen well.
Did not you get quite the result you expected? In
“Practical tips & advice” on p. 30, we give you a few
tips on solutions to your baking problems.
Cooking
TOP/BOTTOM HEAT is normally best when
using an oven shelf.
Fan-assisted cooking
Use the FAN-ASSISTED OVEN when cooking
on
several shelves at the same time, e.g.
meatloaf, meatballs and complete meals
(starter, main dish and dessert).
Remember to choose dishes that need the
same temperature. Dishes that need different
amounts of time in the oven will have to be put
in according to when you want them to be
ready.
13
Roasting
Using the TOP/BOTTOM HEAT and FAN-
ASSISTED OVEN for roasting is both easy and
practical. Joints of beef such as topside and
sirloin retain their natural juices best if roasted at
125ºC. However, cooking time is slightly longer
than at a higher temperature. Use a meat dish in
which there is just sufficient room for the joint so
that the juices do not burn dry. Use a large
roasting pan or ovenproof dish when roasting a
joint of ham as there is usually a lot of meat juice.
Be careful when removing it from the oven. If you
are using a roasting bag, cut a hole in one corner
before putting it in the oven. That way you are
less likely to burn yourself on hot steam when
you open the bag.
Grilling
Size, shape, quantity, the degree of fat marbling,
and even the initial temperature of the meat all
affect the outcome and time of the grilling
process. Fish, poultry, veal and pork will not
brown as much as the darker meats such as beef
and game. Vegetable oil and/or seasoning will
improve the colour, but it also increases the risk
of surface burning.
For best results, avoid grilling food straight from
the refrigerator. Dry the surface of the meat,
place it on the oven shelf and season to taste.
Place an oven dish, ideally lined with foil,
underneath the shelf to catch the fat etc. which
runs off. Pork chops, steaks and fish should be
grilled high up in the oven, while meats such as
thick spare ribs are better lower down.
Set the function control to
and the tempe-
ratur control to the temperature require (230ºC
maximum). Preheat the grill for 3 to 5 minutes.
Keep an eye on the food, and turn it at least
once. Grilling for too long makes food dry, dull,
and possibly burnt as well. The oven door should
be closed when grilling.
Turbo grill
The turbo grill cooks food faster and browns it
more evenly than the grill. The grill element
browns the food and the fan circulates the hot air.
Perfect for ‘tall’ dishes such as grilling ham to
give it an even, all-round colour.
14
Defrosting
Set the function control to . When thawing
frozen meat, fish, glazed, iced or filled bakery
products, the temperature control should be off.
Oven shelves/baking trays can be placed on
several shelf positions if you have a large quantity
of food to defrost. The times required cannot be
given here. Test using a skewer.
Pizza function
The bottom element provides direct heat to the
base of pizzas, quiches or pies, while the fan
ensure air is circulated to cook the pizza toppings
or pie fillings.
To obtain the best results use the lower shelf
levels.
Hints and Tips
There should always be at least 2.5cm between
the top of the food and the element. This gives
the best cooking results and allows room for rise
in yeast mixtures, Yorkshire puddings, etc. When
cooking cakes, pastry, scones, bread, etc., place
the tins or baking trays centrally below element.
Ensure that food is placed centrally on the shelf
and there is sufficient room around the baking
tray/dish to allow for maximum circulation.
Stand dishes on suitably sized baking trays to
prevent spillage onto the oven base and to help
reduce cleaning.
Enamelware, dark, or heavy utensils increase
base browning. Shiny aluminium or polished steel
trays reflect the heat away and give less base
browning.
DO NOT place dishes directly onto the oven base
as it becomes very hot and damage may occur.
DO NOT use the grill pan or meat tin as a baking
tray as this will increase base browning of the
food.
For economy leave the door open for the shortest
possible time, particularly when placing food into
a preheated oven.

maximum (6) for a short while to boost the plate,
and then adjusted to the required setting.
Rapid Hotplate (Front left)
The rapid hotplates indicated by a red spot, will
heat up more quickly than a normal plate.
Over a period of time the red spot may
disappear, this will not affect the performance
of the hotplate.
It is important to note that the hotplate
may smoke and produce a slightly
unpleasant odour when used for the first
time. This is quite normal and will disappear
after some time.
Do not put anything on the hob that is
liable to melt.
Suggestions for the correct setting of the plates

Hints and Tips
Saucepans for use on solid plates should have
several characteristics:
They should be fairty heavy duty.
They should fit the heat area exactly, or be
slightly larger for efficient use, NEVER smaller.
They should have a flat base to ensure good
contact with the plate. This is particularty
important when using pans for high
temperature frying presure cooking.
As soon as liquid starts boiling, turn the plate
control knob so that it will barely keep the liqiud
simmering.
You can switch off the plate a short while before
you finish coking, and the final stage wil be
completed on the accumulated heat.
Ensure pans are large enough to avoid
liquids being split into the plates. Never
leave the plates on without a pan on them
or with an empty pan on them.
Take care never to lean or reach over a
hot electric plate. Always point panhandles
inward or over the work surface next to the
hob to avoid accidentally knocking over a
pan as you pass by.
Take care when frying food in hot oil or
fat, as the overheated splashes could
easily ignite.
If the control knobs become difficult to
turn, please contact your local Electrolux
Service Centre.

Accessories delivered with the appliance
The following accessories are supplied with your
appliance.
Shelf for placing dishes on (roast, pastry
mounds)
The dish should be put in the middle of the
shelf to balance the weight.
Backing tray
Roasting tray
It is used to collect juice when cooking in it,
place it on the shelf 2 from low.
In addition to the accessories supplied we
recommend you only use heatproof dishes/pans
(according to the instructions of the manufacturer).
19
Removable drawer
The removable drawer is located underneath the
oven cavity.
During cooking the drawer may
become hot if the oven is in use for a long
period of time. Flammable materials such as
oven gloves, tea towels, plastic aprons etc.
should not be stored in the drawer.
Oven accessories such as baking sheets, will
also become hot, therefore care should be taken
when removing these items from the drawer
whilst the oven is in use or still hot.
To opening
Catch the drawer from bottom and pull it out.
To remove the drawer, pull it out till the stop,
than lift it slowly and pull it out completely.
Reassemble the drawer following the same
procedure in reverse.

MAINTENANCE AND CLEANING
The oven should be kept clean at all
times. A build-up of fats or other
foodstuffs could result in a fire.
Before cleaning, ensure all control
knobs are in the OFF position, and the
appliance has cooled completely.
Before any maintenance or cleaning
can be carried out, you must
DISCONNECT the cooker from the
electricity supply.
Cleaning materials
Before using any cleaning materials on your
oven, check that they are suitable and that the
manufacturer recommends their use.
Cleaners that contain bleach should
NOT be used as they may dull the
surface finishes. A steam cleaner is not
to be used. Harsh abrasives should also
be avoided.
External cleaning
We recommend for cleaning cleaners type
AXION or CIF that do not scratch the surface;
after that rinse and dry with a soft cloth.
Avoid use of metall objects (knife, edge), steel
wool or nylon pads, abrasive or caustic products,
or diluents.
Oven Cavity
The enamelled oven cavity is best cleaned whilst
the oven is still warm.
Wipe the oven over with a soft cloth soaked in
warm soapy water after each use. From time to
time it will be necessary to do a more thorough
cleaning, using a proprietary oven cleaner.
Oven Shelves and shelf support
To clean the oven shelves, and shelf support soak
in warm soapy water and remove stubborn marks
with a well-wetted soap impregnated pad. Rinse
well and dry with a soft cloth.
Cleaning the Oven door
For a more complete cleaning of the oven door, it
is advisable to disassemble it in the following
way:
- Open the door completely.
- Turn the two locking parts on the hinge arms
to 170°;
- Partially close the door, to a 30
o
angle;
- Lift the door and pull out.
locking parts
Refit the door by reversing the operation
described above.
The Hob Top
The hob is best cleaned whilst it is still warm; as
spillage can be removed more easily than if it is
left to cool.
Regularly wipe over the hob top using a soft cloth
well wrung out in warm water to which a little
washing up liquid has been added. Avoid the use
of the following:
household detergent and bleaches;
impregnated pads unsuitable for non-stick
saucepans;
steel wool pads;
bath/sink stain removers.
The Hotplates
Spills onto the actual plate should be removed using
warm water and a soft brush, nylon or plastic
scourer. To keep the plates looking as new, hotplate
conditioner can be purchased from most hardware
stores, e.g. “4 Hob” by HomeCare Products (follow
the manufacturer’s instruction for use).
Alternatively, wipe the plates with a drop of olive
oil on a kitchen towel to avoid rust. It is important
to note that the plate will smoke a little and
produce a slightly unpleasant odour when next
used.
