Magnetic Stripe Reader (MSR)
The built-in magnetic stripe reader incorporates a 3-track magnetic read head, which requires a single swipe of a card to read data on all three tracks.
Near-Field Communication (NFC) Reader
The optional NFC tag/card reader incorporates several NFC formats depending on your model. The built-in contactless card reader receiver/
transmitter is on the back of the unit below the LEDs indicated by the WiFi symbol.
To read a magnetic stripe card, slide it through the reader with
the magnetic stripe facing downward. The magnetic read head
faces upward toward the bottom cover of the cradle.
Keep the edge of the card at on the inner base of the reader.
This ensures the stripe passes over the read head evenly.
To read a card/tag, tap the contactless reading option on your
iOS device.
Place a card/tag over the WiFi symbol keeping the face of the
card/tag at with the receiver and as close as possible. Data is
sent from the Innea Tab C to your iOS device.
SRED Encrypted MSR Information
Integrating the PTS 4X SRED certified Infinea Tab C into your solution requires proper maintenance of the unit. This includes maintaining proper
battery charge to prevent the unit from unintentionally entering tamper detect mode. When the battery becomes depleted or if it is removed, the
magnetic read head becomes disabled and renders the unit unusable. This requires the unit to be returned to Infinite Peripherals for servicing.
If the magnetic read head security feature is disabled, follow these guidelines to prevent downtime:
Do not allow the battery to fully discharge
Do not attempt to remove the battery
Always place the unit on the charging station when not in use for extended periods
Note:
When the battery is fully discharged and in the tamper detect mode, the unit may only be reactivated by Infinite Peripherals.
