The BC-232
The BC-232 (BUS CONVERTER) is a standard level converter for DCE to DTE in any
media for communication via an RS-232-C (IEEE Standard). Whether this media incorpo-
rates a computer or a simpler device of communication it must have an RS-232 socket for
proper function. Violating this standard may cause a hazardous situation, resulting in dam-
aged property and a non-refundable product.
The BC-232 must have +15VDC & GND on ADABUS side to operate.
Please note: Settings for any communicating device are 8 Bits, 1200 Baud, 1 Start bit, 1
Stop bit, No Parity for all ADA Products. Unless otherwise specified.
RX TX
These 3 Pins;
1. PIN 2(TX) - Used for Transmitting to the ADABUS via
the BC-232.
2. PIN 3(RX) - Used for Receiving from the ADABUS via
the BC-232.
3. PIN 6(GND) - Ground.
Are the only pins that will be used for any application.
LOOPing is a method of testing the port. Pins 45, 78 are internally tied together within
the BC-232.
The other pins (CTS, DTR, and RTS) are not used at all.
