Introduction
Thank you for purchasing this digital camcorder. Everything you need to take quality digital photos
and videos is included with your camcorder.
Vivitar makes capturing those special moments as easy as possible.
Please read this manual carefully first in order to get the most out of your digital camcorder.
NOTE: Your camcorder requires a Micro SD Memory card (up to 16GB) for normal use.
Micro SD Memory cards are not included and need to be purchased separately.
A Class 4 Micro SD card or higher is recommended.
IMPORTANT:
- Do not open the battery door underwater.
- Close the battery door properly for best water sealing.
- Rinse the camcorder with clean water after use and keep the camcorder dry for storage.
- After using the camcorder underwater, the recording quality will be affected as there is still
water inside the microphone and speaker compartment. The sound will resume to normal
once the water has dried out.

Powering the Camcorder ON
Battery Installation
Make sure the batteries have been inserted properly into your digital camcorder.
Use 2x AA (1.5V) batteries. Alkaline batteries are recommended. (Batteries not included.)
1. Release and open the battery compartment door.
2. Install the batteries into the battery compartment as illustrated above.
3. Close the battery compartment door.
NOTE:
Remove the batteries from the camcorder when not in use for an extended period.
Do not mix alkaline and non-alkaline batteries.
Some features will not work if the battery power level is low.
The energy status of the battery power level is displayed on LCD screen as shown below:

Micro SD Memory Card
Make sure a Micro SD card up to 16GB has been properly inserted into your camcorder.
Class 4 or above SD card is recommended. Micro SD Memory card not included.
You must insert the Micro SD Memory Card in order to record and store your VIDEOS and
PICTURES.
To properly insert the Micro SD Memory Card:
1. Power OFF the Camcorder.
2. Release and open the Micro SD Memory Card slot cover.
3. Insert the Micro SD Card into the Micro SD Card slot in the direction as shown on the
camcorder (see SD icon by the Micro SD card slot). Gently press the Micro SD Card until
you hear a slight clicking sound. This indicates the memory card has been inserted
correctly. Make sure that the Micro SD Card is not in LOCK position (see tiny slider on the
side of the card).
4. Close the Micro SD Memory Card slot cover
NOTE:
There is only one right direction to insert the Micro SD memory card into the slot. Do not
force the card into the memory card slot, since it may damage both the camcorder and the
Micro SD memory card. Re-align the Micro SD card position (as marked) and try again.
After the camcorder is powered on, a memory card icon appears on the LCD display
indicating that the Micro SD Memory card has been properly inserted and identified by the
camcorder. If you do not see the SD icon on the display, please check if the card was
inserted properly.

IMPORTANT: The Micro SD memory card must be formatted before capturing videos
and photographs.
If your SD card is new, or if it was used with other camcorders or devices, you need to
FORMAT the card - see simple steps below. If the SD card was previously used, make sure to
save all needed photos and videos before formatting the SD card.
Formatting the Micro SD Memory Card
1. Press the MENU button in Photo Capture or Video Capture Mode.
2. Select the Camcorder Setup’ Menu ( ) by pressing the UP or DOWN button.
3. Press the OK button to enter the Camcorder Setup’ Menu options.
4. Press the UP or DOWN button to highlight and select the Format option and
then press the OK button to confirm.
Then select ‘SD Card’ by pressing the OK button.
5. To format the Micro SD Memory Card, select ‘OK’ and press the OK button.
To exit the menu without formatting the SD Memory Card select ‘Cancel’ then press the
OK button. Alternatively, you can press the MENU button to exit.
NOTE: During formatting of the Micro SD card, all data (pictures & videos - if present) will
be erased. Make sure you save your valuable data before formatting the memory.
Remember, all your files will be erased during formatting!
Power On
Press the POWER button to turn on the camcorder.

Main Camcorder Modes
Your digital camcorder has different modes for the various camcorder functions.
Video Capture Mode
Use this mode to capture videos with your digital camcorder.
This is the default mode when the camcorder is powered ON.
To take a video, aim your camcorder as desired and press the Shutter button to start
recording. A red, blinking icon appears while the recording is in progress. To stop recording,
press the Shutter button again. The video is automatically saved to your camcorder’s
Micro SD Memory card.
To access the various menus for the Video Capture Mode, press the MENU button
while in the Video Capture Mode.
Photo Capture Mode
Use this mode to capture pictures with your camcorder.
After turning on your camcorder, press the MODE button once to open the Photo Capture
Mode.
To take a picture, aim your camcorder as desired and press the Shutter button.
The picture is automatically saved to your camcorder’s Micro SD Memory card.
To access the various menus for the Photo Capture Mode, press the MENU button
while in the Photo Capture Mode.
Playback Mode (Videos & Photos)
Use this mode to view and manage the videos and photos on your camcorder.
After turning on your camcorder, press the PLAYBACK button to open the Playback mode.
You can scroll through the images that you’ve previously taken to view or delete them as
desired.
To access the various menus for the Playback mode for videos and photos, press the MENU
button while in the Playback mode.

To be able to download photos and videos to your WINDOWS OS or MACINTOSH OS computer
using the Vivitar Experience Image Manager Software, you will need the following minimum
configuration:

Powering the Camcorder On/Off
Make sure the batteries have been inserted properly into your digital camcorder.
Make sure the Micro SD card has been inserted properly into your camcorder.
Micro SD card up to 16GB - not included.

Powering the Camcorder ON
Press Power button to turn your camcorder ON.
After powering on, the LCD screen turns on with your camcorder in Video Capture Mode to start.
Powering the Camcorder OFF
While the camcorder is on, you can press the Power button down again at any point to turn your
camcorder OFF.
Auto Off Power Saving
Your digital camcorder also has an Auto Power Off feature that automatically turns off your
camcorder after a specific period of time that your camcorder is left idle. The Auto Power Off
settings can be set from the ‘Auto Power OffCamcorder Setup menu.

Changing Camcorder Mode
Your camcorder has three main modes:
1. Video Capture Mode - Use this mode to capture videos with your camcorder.
2. Photo Capture Mode - Use this mode to capture photos with your camcorder.
3. Playback Mode (for photos and videos) - Use this mode to view the photos and videos you
have already taken with your camcorder.
When the camcorder is first powered ON, the Video Capture Mode will be active.
The icons that appear on the LCD screen are the best default settings so that you can begin to
capture and enjoy clear quality videos and photos.
To change the active camcorder mode, make sure the camcorder is powered ON and press the
MODE button.
When in Video Capture Mode, this icon is displayed on the top-left corner of the LCD display.
When in Photo Capture Mode, this icon is displayed on the top-left corner of the LCD display.
Press the PLAYBACK button to enter the Playback Mode.
When in Playback Mode, this icon is displayed on the top-left corner indicating that the image
being viewed is a video file.
When in Playback Mode, this icon is displayed on the top-left corner indicating that the image
being viewed is a photo file.

Video Capture Mode
The Video Capture Mode allows you to capture videos with your digital camcorder.
When the camcorder is first powered ON, the camcorder will be in Video Capture Mode.
Taking a Video
1. Power on your camcorder.
2. Use the LCD display to direct the camcorder at the scene you would like to capture.
3. Press the UP or DOWN button to Zoom In or Zoom Out in order to better set the
camcorder display if desired.
NOTE: The Zoom magnification is indicated on the bottom-left of the LCD screen.
4. Press the Shutter button to START the video capture.
5. A red, blinking icon and the elapsed recording time appear on the top-right of the LCD,
indicating that the recording is in progress.
6. To STOP recording your video, press the Shutter button again.
7. The video is automatically saved to the camcorder’s Micro SD Memory card.
Photo Capture Mode
The Photo Capture Mode allows you to capture pictures with your digital camcorder.
When the camcorder is first powered ON, the camcorder will be in Video Capture Mode.
Press the MODE button once to access the Photo Capture Mode.
Taking a Picture
1. Power on your camcorder.
2. Press the MODE button once to enter the Photo Capture Mode.
3. Use the LCD display to direct the camcorder at the scene you would like to capture.
4. Press the UP or DOWN button to Zoom In or Zoom Out in order to better set the

Playback Mode (Videos & Photos)
The Playback Mode allows you to review and delete videos and photos that you’ve already
captured with you camcorder.
Entering Playback Mode
1. When you first turn on the camcorder, the camcorder will be in Video Capture Mode by
default.
2. Press the Playback button to enter the Single View Playback Mode.
The latest captured video or photo appears on the LCD screen.
Thumbnail View
Easily navigate and select the image (video or photo) you wish to view by using the Thumbnail
View.
The images on your camcorder will be displayed in a 3 X 3 matrix where you can scroll and select
images from the thumbnails.
1. While in Playback Mode, press the Playback button to enter the Thumbnail View.
2. All captured images appear in the Thumbnail View.
Videos appear with the Video Icon on the Thumbnail.
Photos appear without an icon on the Thumbnail.
3. Press the UP or DOWN button to scroll and select the image (video or photo) you
wish to view.
4. Press the OK button to enlarge the selected image to full screen size.
5. Once the selected video is full size you can play the video.
Once the selected photo is full size you can zoom in or zoom out.

Playing Videos on Your Camcorder
1. Selecting your video:
Once in Playback Mode, press the UP or DOWN button to scroll through the
captured images until you find the video you would like to view.
Videos appear with the Video icon on the top-left of the LCD screen.
2. Playing your selected video:
Press the OK button to START playing the video.
Press the OK button again to PAUSE the video and to continue playing and pausing as
desired.
When playing the video, press the UP button to fast rewind or the DOWN button to
fast forward the video.
Viewing Photos on Your Camcorder
1. Selecting your photo:
Once in Playback Mode, press the UP or DOWN button to scroll through the
captured images until you find the photo you would like to view.
Photos appear with the Playback icon on the top-left of the LCD screen.
2. Zooming In/Out of your selected photo:
Press the OK button to enter the Photo Zoom Mode.
Press the UP or DOWN button to Zoom In / Zoom Out of the picture.
When the picture is zoomed in, press the OK button to move the picture:
Press the UP button to move Up.
Press the DOWN button to move Down.
Press the MENU button to move Right.
Press the Playback button to move Left.

3. Viewing your photos as a Slide Show:
The Slide Show feature enables you to playback all your captured still images
automatically.
Once in Playback Mode, press the UP or DOWN button to select a photo.
Press the MENU button and select ‘Playback’ ( ).
Press the OK button to enter the camcorder Playback options.
Press the UP or DOWN button to select ‘Slide Show’, then press the OK
button.
Press the UP or DOWN button to select the desired interval time, then press the
OK button to begin the Slide Show.
To stop the Slide Show during playback, press the OK button.
Deleting Images (Videos & Photos)
1. Press the Playback button to enter the Single View Playback Mode.
2. Once in Playback Mode, select the video or photo you would like to delete.
3. Press the MENU button and select ‘Playback’ ( ).
Press the OK button to enter the camcorder Playback options.
4. Press the UP or DOWN button to select ‘Delete’, then press the OK button.
5. Press the UP or DOWN button to select from the following options:
‘Delete Current’ - deletes the selected image.
Delete All’ - deletes all (unlocked) captured videos and photos.
NOTE: Before deleting an image or all images, you will be asked to reconfirm:
Select ‘OK’ then press the OK button to delete all images.
Select ‘Cancel’ then press the OK button to exit without deleting and return to the
Playback menu options.
6. Once a selection has been made, press the OK button to confirm the selection.

NOTE:
To exit the Delete Menu at any time and return to the Playback Mode, press the MENU
button.
Images that are protected/locked cannot be deleted. First unlock the image, and then delete the
image.
Protecting Images (Videos & Photos)
1. Press the Playback button to enter the Single View Playback Mode.
2. Once in Playback Mode, select the video or photo you would like to protect/lock.
3. Press the MENU button and select ‘Playback’ ( ).
Press the OK button to enter the camcorder Playback options.
4. Press the UP or DOWN button to select ‘Protect’, then press the OK button.
5. Press the UP or DOWN button to select from the following options:
‘Lock Current’ protects/locks the current, selected image.
Unlock Current’ – unlocks the current, selected image.
‘Lock All’ – protects/locks all images (both videos and photos).
‘Unlock All’ – unlocks all images (both videos and photos).
6. Once a selection has been made, press the OK button to confirm the selection.
NOTE:
To exit the Protect Menu at any time and return to the Playback Mode, press the MENU
button.
Images that are protected/locked cannot be deleted. First unlock the image, and then delete the
image.
